I like your reviews and the sample photos just remember these lenses are more for people like me a hobbyist who wants good picture quality without the cost of more expensive lenses which don't raise the image quality that much but do increase the prices a lot. I don't need a $700 lens with all the bells and whistles, I do need something that takes really good pictures for a cheaper price. We not so rich people need to know how well the lens will perform for the price and I think you do a really good job of explaining the good and not so good of each lens. Please keep reviewing some of the lesser expensive lenses for people like me. Thank you.
This reply says a lot, so I can type less :) I'm lucky that I have all the lenses i need, but with the review you hit the nail on the head, this is ideal for a student along with some other budget friendly lenses that have been released. Several years ago, I went back to university as a mature student to study, Photography, Video and Digital imaging. On the first day on the course my house was broken into and all my gear was taken (camera, lenses, video camera, and lots of other stuff) I had no insurance to cover that, and at this time I changed from Sony to Fuji, the reason for the change, I could not afford any lenses and a friend shot on fuji and would loan me lenses till i could afford to replace my gear, so I got an X-T10 body only. If theses lenses had been about then it would have been great for me at that time. But a student starting out, can pick up a used X-T20/30 X-E3/4 or X-S10 (maybe even an X-T2/3) for around £500 get the 35 and 56 and be set with change from £1000 to pick up some accessories. But I will say none of this gear stops you doing professional work (paid) a few years ago I was doing a portrait/headshot job, with all the expensive Pro gear... but I also had a 7Artisan 55mm F/1.4 manual focus lens i put it on an X-T10 and took a few photos. I sent a contact sheet with them all to the client (who had no idea what cost what or which camera took what photo) and he chose the headshots from the £100 lens on a camera that would cost £200, (granted he took others too)
Hello Kirk, Thank you for the video regarding the new product from Viltrox. I own a few lenses myself and love your work on the photos and they turned out very well. Additionally, I would like to wish you and your family a Merry Christmas. Thank you for the effort you have put into the channel and providing us content to enjoy. Cheers.
Hi Kirk, This review is just in time to be added to my possible Christmas list. I have a Tamron 18 - 300 that has been Attached to my XT5 five since I unboxed it, but I am looking for a lens to use on my XT3, and the Viltrox seems like it would be a good candidate.
There's definitely a market for these lenses. Not everyone wants to have to sell a kidney to buy top rate glass. And I think that's good. It's for those that value the picture and the moment, rather than the technical precision. Happy Christmas to you and your family Kirk. I shall look forward to seeing more of your videos in the new year.
Hey, I have the Vitrox 56 mm f1.7 on my Nikon Z50 II and absolutely love it to take shots of my Samoyed and Husky Sled Dogs and portraits in general. What is the filter you did use on the 35 mm? Cheers from Switzerland
Those are lovely images from that lens, and it's a great price. If I didn't already have the Fuji 35mm 1.4, then I'd consider this. These lower priced lenses definately have their place. Viltrox seems to be the best of them.
Drew I used to be dead set against these Chinese lenses until I saw how good they are at such a low price point. For people new to photography or students it’s a great deal.
Seems like a great lens for the price. If you are on a budget, or even if you want to use a prime that you may not be fully committed to at first, this might be a good option. Thanks again for the great video Kirk!
I'd love to see lenses that are truly small for when we really want a nearly pocketable dslr. I'm totally willing to compromise on aperture speed to get a nice small lens. Have you seen the pentax 40mm 2.8 pancake? That's what I'm talking about!
I have not seen that one. I'm betting that there is something out there for Fuji or other cameras that is a pancake. Fujifilm makes a 27 mm 2.8 weather sealed lens which is a 41 mm full frame very small and flat.
Really like what I’m seeing here with the Viltrox, but do you think it’s worth the extra cost over the TTArtisan 35mm/f1.8 Mark II? Both seem like good options for different reasons.
For some reason I settled on only reviewing Viltrox and no other Chinese brands as their offerings seemed better. But that being said I have not used the TTArtisan.
Am looking to add a 35mm for my X-T50. Was looking at the Fujifilm 35mm f/2 , but your review has me reconsidering. Do you have any thoughts on how the two compare?
Going to be honest here if you can spring for a little more money buy a mint used Fuji 35 f2. Much better built and the results will be just a bit better but hardly noticeable. The Viltrox is pretty dam good for what it is but its not weather sealed and the fuji is. Plus the Fuji is much smaller and has more metal in it.
@ thanks so much for your prompt reply. I knew the Fuji was weather sealed and that was one of the reasons it was on my list. I am looking at used in like new or mint condition. Thanks also for your great videos. I appreciate your insights as I learn more about my Fuji gear. Happy Holidays!
Hi Ken just watched your video on the viltrox 35 m Great lenses for the price Ive got the 13m 1.4 fantastic lens and built like a tank ! My name is Michael and I shoot with an xt5 just a novice but your videos really help me I live in Nottingham in the UK best wishes
At the moment I’m going to try to find a cheap wide angle short focal length lens but not sure which one to get. This viltrox seems pretty decent for the money though.

@9Mtikcus Thanks for the real world experiences it really helps others with their choices!
Now we need Viltrox to do an 18mm and 23mm f1.7"s to make a great light weight travel kit.
Yes Dave an awesome idea!

Viltrox now sells a Pro UV filter which is very slim and light. You should be able to find it anywhere.

Looks to have great colours, have the 56mm looking forward to your shootout with Fuji's own plasstic fantastic. All the best , Tim.
I’ll be doing that soon with Fuji’s 35 f2. Stay tuned.

The Viltrox seems like a nice mix of quality and affordability. Any thoughts on how it matches up with the new TTArtisan 35mm f1.8 II?
No idea really but my guess is they are similar with the TT costing less but build quality is not as good.

Would be great to compare with Fuji xf35f2
Luis I’ll be doing that next.
@ really enjoy your videos by the way!
Curious how this compares to the Fuji 35mm f2?
Stay tuned I’ll be testing them side by side.
? Can it resolve 40mg on the XT5.
Yes it can. I used it on my X-T50 without issue.
@@KirkWilliamsonphotographyThanks for the reply..I will get one.

I’m just guessing here but I bet a 23 f1.7 is on their list.
For the price point, the lens handles well.. I have the same gondola, where did you get yours?
Mark - No idea the wife grabbed it from some place around here. 🤷♂️
IS IT ONLY FOR APS-C CAMERAS?
Yes only for aps-c - good point I should have mentioned that.
5:27 Too wide and stable for this lens
K.R. Williamson 2024 ; "its well worth the money, dont know what the cost is yet!!" :))))
