I still really wish they remade it or make some spin-off based on this game. It has so many potential that GTA III didn't have, the casting were good although the story and dialogue kinda wack, and the world is pretty good for that time and I felt like TCNY captures New York more than Liberty City of the GTA III.

Man I remember this game. I remember really liking it lmao, def because nostalgia. Cleaned up every block but can’t remember if I beat the story or not
Got a playstation 2 emulator working on my computer just to replay this game. I've never been more disillusioned about my nostalgic memories
@@Nothing2Interesting So true man. Loved this game as a kid- even played it more than GTA. The first thing I noticed when loading up the game was that anything beyond 50ft would not render in and it was such a massive turnoff I couldn't get immersed into it again.
Was it X-Box version that is literally so broken that you cannot complete it? LUL

What pisses me off the most about this game is that I absolutely love it and it really could have been something if it wasn’t rushed, should have had another year or 2 and released on ps3/360, it’s obvious it wasn’t great despite my nostalgic bias towards it.

I definitely liked the main character in this game and the different fighting styles
And then we got Sleeping Dogs, one of the best open world games.

the devs were cheap they bought the game but not the True Crime name....sad really they killed a franchise and created one that probably won't get a sequel

I must have been really lucky, I bought the game for Xbox back in the day and completed it, and I don't remember encountering any major game effecting or game breaking bugs. I actually enjoyed my time with it. I didn't even know how much of a buggy mess it could be.
We need a new True Crime game so badly.
true crime 3 went bankrupt but a company bough it back and renamed it sleeping dogs, its out since 2012

So it is possible to complete the game on XBox. I did it (somehow) multiple times when I was a kid; the only way I could get the pushing minigame to work was to load and unload the fight several times, but I did it.
I hope I have a run at a charity marathon one day and I can't go and frew has to sub in for me.

25:55 I played the game so much, I actually also found that out of bounds clone. I beat the shit out of him for being an impostor (I guess I was ahead of my time) and if I remember correctly, it has a woman voice for some reason.
I actually did beat this game on the xbox, and I should still have the completed save file on my old xbox, too.
I very specifically remember the human traffic level with the boss fight on the cargo container, because I thought it was actually impossible when I got to it, but I did manage to beat it on the second day of me playing it. It was one of those "screw it, I'll try again later" moments where you beat it immediately on the first try in your next session. Always thought it was way too hard, so good to know that it was broken from the start, I guess.
I love this game, I used to play it a ton on the gamecube, for all the funny glitches. The things you can do with the debug mode are also a lot of fun, but i think it only exists on consoles.

How do you do for play this game without controllers-bug ?
With 360-controller i can't shout and aim at the same time... And with a pc-mouse i can't turn the camera because of bug with sensivity...

I remember doing a PIT manouver in this game - with a bike on a bus. And spinning it 720°. Good times.
@27:24 and @29:38 I actually beat the regular Xbox version. Yes, the stupid crate fight was glitched. Yes, it took quite a few tries to get through that part. It IS possible, just not easy.
God the Background Noise is so annoying, please fix this some way. Especially around the 30:00 Mark.

I'm new in the speerun ''world'', can someone explain to me why everytime has a person aside the speedrunner? i'ts like a judge or something?
People aside can help with explaining things, sometimes runner don't talk much so they help. But mostly they just make run more intresting and fun.
This game probably wouldn't be too accepted at this point in 2020

Spent so much time playing this game, loved going to new dojo’s and learning fighting techniques, I’d just go kick the shit out of everyone. The psych ward mission was my favorite.

You know, everyone keeps saying you can't beat this on Xbox, but I swore as a child I remembered beating it. So I dug out my old dusty trusty OG Xbox and found my copy of True Crime: New York City and after some long hard hours (no clue how I found this tedious game fun as a child) I beat the game. What's supposed to stop you from completion on Xbox?
You have barely any time to shove the guy off the container.
It IS Beatable but it's going to be some serious trial and error as you only have a frame or two for the input to shove him off.
