David Jiricek once again finds himself swung in trade rumors! So let's talk about where he could up! What are YOUR thoughts on this Jiricek situation? And what would YOU trade for him? Let me know! #GravGang #RoadTo80kSUBS
@@irishninja9040 fair - that is probably the biggest question mark. We have plenty of picks/prospects but no one that we'll readily part ways with. Would hate to see Musty go but I can see CBJ asking for him. Would be an absolute win if we could offer Mukhamadullin or Bystedt and a 2nd - but I'm probably over-rating our own prospects. Somewhere in between is a realistic offer
Of course I'd part ways with anyone on the roster not named Celebrini, Smith, or Eklund. But not sure if CBJ is looking for win-now pieces, they are in a rebuild of their own
Hard to count out Big Money Mike from going after an area of weakness in our prospect pool, and RD is a big area of weakness. I've only heard speculation on what CBJ wants so I'm not sure what the Sharks would offer, but you hafta give to get. Ferraro, Blackwood, and Musty for Jiricek and a 2nd RP? 🤷
I think that you’re working from a false premise, Grav. The Jackets have a number of RHD/players who can play RHD right now, between the current roster and Cleveland. Meanwhile, Waddell has been talking since before camp broke that he really wants to add a top-6 forward-specifically a winger-to his squad. And it’s worth noting that Waddell prioritized speed and skating ability during many of his recent drafts (in CAR & CBJ both). If I’m looking at, for instance, Buffalo, I doubt that he would be looking at grabbing a player from the D corps. I think he’d be looking for a “toolsy” young winger with good to high-end skating who isn’t fitting in with the system in Buffalo. You’re likelier looking at a Quinn or maybe a Benson than someone like Byram. And I think the same reasoning would apply to the other teams mentioned in insiders’ comments & rumours. When a deal happens, it will be built around a winger.
I can see a Sens trade for the Jackets to get a guy like Ridly Grieg. There have been rumors of a potential Josh Norris trade, but I dont see Columbus going after Norris with his injury-proned status and had a bad year last year at an almost 8M cap hit. Ridly Grieg I can definitely see as he isnt going to get top 6 minutes and at his peak, could become another Brad Marchant who is just a player everyone will hate and Grieg can definitely draw guys to the penalty box. For the Sens, I can see this move also as he would be a good fit with Kleven, and is a project to develop, while Columbus has an NHL ready winger who can also play center.
wait..flyers gives frost(1st round pick), zamula who has value and col first round pick for jiricek who cant skate?...i dont know man...thats a lot to give.
I don't understand why any trade where the Sabres are mocked in starts with Byram...he's fit in fine on the Sabres blueline. He has played well and I can't see Adams part with him after trading Mittelstadt to get him.
As a Jackets fan, I think the most probable destination for Jiricek is Minnesota. Why? Because Minnesota is a Western Conference foe and as such, there is less chance he'd come back to haunt the Jackets. Secondly, current Jackets coach Dean Evason spent the last few years in Minnesota and knows the organization along with the available players well. Evason could best identify what player or players best fit the current scheme Evason and Waddell are trying to build in Columbus.
I kinda like him going to Edmonton he could slot in on that 2nd pair and probably help cover up some of nurse’s defensive problems and he would be playing in the nhl like he wants.
@brevis5089 broberg had some nhl games here and there over a handful of years and was in oilers system the entire time so it was a much easier transition ....oilers need battle tested dmen , top 6 wingers , better bottom 6 and goaltending cus their window is almost closed , not a project dman
Seems like the Wild have the most to offer. I really hope they don't give up Rossi. Their best playmaking center since Koivu and they want to give him away for a guy who might be no better than a 3rd pairing d-man. What about Khusnutdinov + Lambos for Jiricek? Khusnutdinov would provide more depth to their bottom-6. Lambos has more offensive upside, but hasn't done much in Iowa.
Philly has all the assets to make it work. Just have to not be scared to pay the price for these kinds of players and he fits in perfectly in the top 4
Flyers make the most sense to me I think he would be a good fit and they could use a bit more help on that blue line with young talent. Oilers makes no sense imagine how bad defensively and at skating that right side would be with Bouchard and then Jiricek in the top 4 don't see that going well
Idk exactly what Columbus would want but if I’m Montreal I’d probably offer Struble, CGY 1st & a middling forward prospect like Kapanen I think that’s decent value but I’d also be ok switching Struble for Xhekaj or Barron
The Sens aren’t trading JBD or Ostapchuk for Jiricek. The Sens are weak on their right side to begin with, and they’re looking for someone to fill in for Zub who is a T4 on LTIR. Moving JBD would make them weaker or neutral down the right side. As for Ostapchuk, they’re very high on him for a B6 centre. He’s a big body who plays a good defensive game and has some offensive touch. Jiricek might fill a role there in 3 years, but he would be mired in a similar situation to Columbus: bouncing back-and-forth between 6th defenseman, the press box, and the minors.
I'm kinda for San Jose taking shots at random players that are struggling. If it doesn't work out, so long as it isn't expensive, there is not really a downside.
Sens make no sense Grav Jiricek is just a worse version of Yakemchuk don't see why Ottawa would want 2 RHD that both have mobility issues and play the same style of game with Yakemchuk having a higher offensive ceiling would be weird to get a 20 year old dman to fill a 1 year gap until Yakemchuk makes the Sens next season and then Jiricek is useless and back in the minors or on the trading block again
I think it truly depends on Yakemchuk's development tbh.If he is ready next season then of course but if he needs one more year after then Jensen's contract is up and the right side will be Yakemchuk Zub and Jiricek. I will say depend on the price bc if you are just going to pull JBD in and out of the lineup might as well put a flyer on a younger one. If they want to do JBD+Boucher and maybe a 3rd I think it kinda worths a shot but that is probably all I want to offer.
@jq7352 Ya of course I just see Jiricek as probably getting cast aside once Yak is ready because teams typically prefer the players they draft but ya you're right it all depends on how they develop
I see Jiricek to the Sens. They badly need a replacement for Artyon Zub since Zub cant stay healthy for a 6-game spurt. Jiricek can be a good fit with Kleven and doesnt have to rush up development in Belleville as Yakemchuk could make the roster also next season. However the Sens badly need decent prospects, and this is a good player to develop.
Buffalo gets Jiricek and Columbus gets Jokiharju, Jack Quinn, Isak Rosen. Columbus gets 3 young pieces. 2 to help now and one for the future. Buffalo solidifies the top 4 with a bigger more physical player they definitely need.
Sabres won’t trade Byram for Jiricek, they are trying to make the playoffs, there’s no way they trade their 3rd best defenseman for a prospect. I still think they should be in the sweepstakes, but with a package of futurers, either Wahlberg and a pick, or Östlund.
It's too bad it doesn't seem to work out in Columbus, where three coaches in three years did him no favors. I feel like Minnesota has the best possible outcome, if they wanna swap straight up players.
I’m a Sens fan and I would actually prefer not to pursue Jiricek, which is probably a hot take in the fandom. I’m frankly tired of the inexperience I see on the blue line, and I don’t think that bringing in another young guy is going to help regardless of how good he’s projected to be. There’s a reason that Nick Jensen has been arguably our best defenseman this season, and I think it’s because he’s had time in other teams’ systems. If the Sens were to get a defense, I’d much rather them pursue a veteran defenseman that can still play well like Andersson or Weegar in Calgary.
Col has no 2nd rd picks this year or next, chi has multiple & needs a left handed playmaking center & phi needs a right d to replace “playoff” Risto when we move him at the deadline for another 1st
Rossi has been very good for Minnesota. The talk around him being traded is that they really like Danila Yurov, they might sign Brock Nelson and/or Brock Boeser if they become available in free agency, and especially if they get Nelson, they don't see much of a spot for Rossi in the top 6.
David Jiricek once again finds himself swung in trade rumors! So let's talk about where he could up! What are YOUR thoughts on this Jiricek situation? And what would YOU trade for him? Let me know! #GravGang #RoadTo80kSUBS
For the Wild I think it would be Liam Ohgren since they don’t really have a spot for him and we are high on Yurov.
Love the Wild getting him without giving up Rossi. Big package but holding Marco is huge
Does every trade rumor have to include Rossi? He just turned 23 and is on pace for almost 70 points, trading him makes zero sense.
He’s gonna want $$$$
Jiricek to the Sharks 🦈
I was thinking the same thing - surprised I have not heard too much activity surrounding Jiricek to SJ. Just hoping GMMG is cooking something up again
@@ericcalbonero146What SJ give up for him?

Broberg would've been the exact piece to use to get Jiricek for the Oilers, had they not mismanaged that situation
I think that you’re working from a false premise, Grav. The Jackets have a number of RHD/players who can play RHD right now, between the current roster and Cleveland. 10:14 We were on the same wave length! Plus David was born in Cbus when his dad was a Jacket!
As a Habs fan... Reinbacher's knees scare me a lot and I think Habs even trading Reinbacher straight up for Jiricek would be smart
As a Jackets fan, I think the most probable destination for Jiricek is Minnesota. Why? He doesnt fit edmontons window
@ I would say he is nhl ready
@brevis5089 nhl ready and playoff run ready are 2 totaly different things, he cant even crack columbus line up....can you even skate?
@ Look how proberg did in the playoffs, when some guys are given a chance they run with it and he wants it so he could very well step up
@brevis5089 broberg had some nhl games here and there over a handful of years and was in oilers system the entire time so it was a much easier transition ....oilers need battle tested dmen , top 6 wingers , better bottom 6 and goaltending cus their window is almost closed , not a project dman

Would St Louis be interested in getting both Jiricek brothers?
I would hope so but we probably wouldn't like the high cost it would take to win this auction.
If the Sabres offered Byram for Jiricek, I don’t think Columbus would let the ink dry on the deal before they swooped him up.
GMKA would be insane of he trades Byram .... never happen
Philly has all the assets to make it work. Just have to not be scared to pay the price for these kinds of players and he fits in perfectly in the top 4
He will be excellent defenceman matter of time
To the sens for a Greig or Pinto based package makes a lot of sense for both teams.
Great Video, as usual, Nathan

Marcus Pettersson and Sam Poulin for David Jiricek.
in Montreal for
Mailloux and 1st pick of Calgary!!!
jiricek to the blues for jiricek...
Jiricek to Buffalo for Jack Quinn
Idk exactly what Columbus would want but if I’m Montreal I’d probably offer Struble, CGY 1st & a middling forward prospect like Kapanen I think that’s decent value but I’d also be ok switching Struble for Xhekaj or Barron
Welcome to Pittsburgh!
Marcus pettersson for david jiricek!
Throw in the pens unprotected first next year and sure
Columbus is looking for a top end prospect in return. Pittsburgh has very few outside of McGroarty

Byram > Jiricek. It would be a bad trade for the Sabres. I might go Jiricek for Samuelsson and a 2nd round pick.

MTL gets: Jiricek and 2026 4th rounder

Thoughts on a Reinbacher for Jiricek trade 1 for 1
No way lol

Jamie Drysdale for David Jiricek
Jiricek and 2 2nds. I'll give them marco rossi. 👀 .
Jan Rutta, Cody Ceci, and a 4th for Jiricek make it happen GMMG 😂😂
The wild trade is the only trade I would remotely consider as a jackets fan
It makes too much sense for the Blues to throw a solid offer their way to unite the brothers
i pray for Preds!
I agree
I hope pittsburgh gets him!
They have no prospects to offer except Mcgroarty
Buffalo gets Jiricek and Columbus gets Jokiharju, Jack Quinn, Isak Rosen. Columbus gets 3 young pieces. 2 to help now and one for the future. Buffalo solidifies the top 4 with a bigger more physical player they definitely need.

To the sharks for Rutta, (Thomas Bordeleau or Danil Gushkin) and a 4th round pick calling it now
What about a trouba othmann package?

Spacek’s dad was former blue jacket 👀
Zamula is Michkov’s buddy. They aren’t trading him
Mcgroaty and any of the pens defence man if bluejackets will take them for jiricek
Nah, I dont think the Flyers are in on that....
Red wings would be great for him
Why would oilers trade for a 21 yr old who cant crack a columbus line up when the oilers window is now
I’m hearing it’s Detroit
WINNIPEG
To the SHARKS! 🦈
He will be excellent defenceman 👍💯 he is all ready
Jirchek joins his brother with the Blues.. 🔮 🤔
Marco Rossi would be perfect
Mukhamadullin and a 2nd for Jiricek
Jiricek to phi - frost to chi - 2x chi 2nd rd picks to col
Col has no 2nd rd picks this year or next, chi has multiple & needs a left handed playmaking center & phi needs a right d to replace “playoff” Risto when we move him at the deadline for another 1st
He ends up in IOWA
Henoila and a pick
Jiricek over Severson and Gudbranson. SUUUUUUUUURE!!!
Sabres 2025 Top 10 protected first, Ostlund and Neuchev for Jiricek. Who says no?
The sabres should say hell nah
Silly.
Blues trade Theo Lindstein + 2026 3rd rd
