    Why not prime and paint the underside of the plates? Also why not weld over the paint? Would that cause problems with the welding? Thanks.

      They make a weld able primer. Shoot the primary to seal the metal, then you can weld where the primer is. I still grind back the primer because I want to minimize any contamination in the weld.

    Hey question did you prep the patch metal

    • @Poweraddicts
      @Poweraddicts 3 роки тому +2

      I grind all the loose flakey rust off the parent metal. I use a flap wheel to prep the patch metal and parent metal.

    Ooof, that's a lot of rust. Planning on taking off the bucket and getting a powder coat over the frame to keep it from rusting more?

      Nah, not yet. The jeep's back in Texas and I'm out in California at the moment. I'll be getting back at it in about five weeks. Thank's for that vid by the way.

    Hmmm. Could it be a comanche/scrambler or some type of pick-up/extended bed in the near future? Will it only have 2 seats?

    • @Poweraddicts
      @Poweraddicts 6 років тому +4

      You are on the right track! Sort of a stretched flatbed truck style. Mainly the 2 front seats yes. I'm thinking about making the bed section with side walls high enough to hold the factory rear seat, haven't totally decided on that yet. Thanks for dropping in!! Have a great day!!

    Great vid. I’ve got a 93YJ in a similar issue. My goal is either repair and stretch the frame to CJ8 length or part it out and buy an LJ.
    Heads up, you can buy new framehorns from autorust.com. you’d still have to cut the old and weld in the new.
