Wunderschöne Aufführung dieses perfekt komponierten Sextetts im Kammerorchesterstil mit gut harmonisierten und perfekt balancierten Töne aller Streichinstrumente. Die intime und perfekt vereinigte Mitwirkung zwischen den allen Spieler ist echt bewundernswert. Ausgezeichnet!
Isnt it lovely, the second movement, introduced by the alto violinist? I have been there, in Concertgebouw, for an afternoon concert, zaterdag 20 mei 2017, so it stand on my ticket.14:15 uur. But at that time the piano refused to come up from the underground, we had a break, and was offered a glas of wine, thank you, and after the break, when the piano still refused to come up from the cellar floor, the piano consert was inhibited, and it was Bruckners eight symfoni, so well played with Christoph Eschenbach as dirigent, that all is forgiven! We swedes had great moment! And if we believe the introductor to this consert, it was the first time in history the piano elevator didnt work! Yes, memorys can be of different type, and this is apparently of a different type. And, as I said earlier, since then I always listen to Avrotros Classiek.

A versão do Sexteto para Orquestra de Câmara conseguiu manter a delicada transparência sonora da obra, mantendo, ao mesmo tempo, a condição de conjunto solístico pluralizando o formato instrumental do concerto barroco com seis solistas acrescidos do tutti. Neste dia, 10/12/2019, em que consta "14 não gostei", seria esclarecedor que cada um dos 14 que não gostaram apontasse os motivos, que, certamente, seriam absorvidos como enriquecedores de conhecimento.
Very interesting this orchestra version, although it sounds me a little bit odd and less brilliant than the original chamber work. Basically some of 1st cello part here has been assigned to altos with a slightly different sound. Overall nice to hear but without being as "spring" as the original sextet was supposed to be, in my humble opinion.
Neil, it is not the first time in history chamber music is played by a bigger ensemble than the notes say. It is not a big deal, I think. This 18 can play really well.
Since the String Orchestra repertoire is small when compared to the enormous number of strings chamber works(quartets, quintets, sextets and octets), String orchestras will offer their audiences more variety by playing works orginally written for small chamber groups. It's always a treat! I have programmed Death and Maiden and the Mendelssohn Octet with my String Orchestra of 21 players.

A quand les sonates pour cordes de Rossini, sur instruments d'époque, avec le même genre de formation que pour ce Sextuor de Brahms ? En nonet : 2×2 violons, 2 violoncelles et une contrebasse.

De plus j'aimerais savoir si en 2021, il y aura au Concertgebow, des concerts en hommage à Alphons Diepenbrock (1862-1921), avec par exemple l'Ouverture : Les Oiseaux, qui va si bien avec l'Afsluitdijk et ses lumières divines ou celles de Zélande et également Marsyas. I count eighteen players and Avrotros says six. An explanation would be nice.

I preffer it played the way Brahms intended, to be honest. A sextet should be played as a sextet.
