In this video I show you the correct way to cack PSA, BGS and SGC cases. This is the most efficient and safe way to crack open graded card cases. Let your mind at ease knowing this method is the safest and easiest way to crack a PSA case. No need to fear damaging the card as long as you go slow and use caution.

I never understood cracking them. Take a pocket knife and follow the seams and wiggle side to side. It opens right up. No mess, no cracking, and no card damage. Also guys if you crack it, you can tell psa or bgs you did and they fix the pop report.
When people crack the cases open can they close it back up? I always wondered if people can swap the real card with a fake card and then sell it. I’ve gotten burnt a few times ordering cards off Amazon. But in the slab tho
@@philsbarbershop4229 not the same case. They get to damaged after cracking them but people do sell fake slabs to put cards it. That's why its important to look up the ID number on the slab and cross reference with the pop report. (Or grading company PSA,BGS,SGC ....etc)
@@philsbarbershop4229 you could do that with SGC, those cases open very easy to open with a knife going around edge, youd just have to be careful

Nice! Thanks for the feedback! I would practice on a cheap PSA 5 or 6 case first bc those SP's have some very sensitive foil edges. You gotta be extra careful with those types of cards.

Thanks for this video!! Just bought my first PSA Graded card. A Luka rookie base GM 9. Should I resubmit for regrading?
Not sure if anyone else mentioned this but if you want to keep the pop reports as accurate as possible please please please keep the labels. Once you have a few send them in to the grading company and they should remove them from the registry. Otherwise all that's happening is your inflating the pop reports and dragging the potential resale values. Thanks and may it rain 10s.

Awesome tutorial Matt!!! is there any difference with thicker graded card stocks to be aware of when we decide to crack em open should we know about?
It's going to be the same for the most part. The cases are a little thicker so you may want to put a couple more cracks in the label part before you try to separate the two. Don't be afraid to shred it, I was being careful bc I wanted to save the cases for props later on down the road lol.

Hey Matt - I'm pretty sure with PSA when you crack a case PSA wants you to send the label in to them so they can take it off the POP Report. I've got several I'm going to send in when they open back up.👍

@@millersbarparis Is there a certain address to mail them to? Or does PSA receive them and throw them away? lol
I do not have the address since I've only cracked 2 or 3 cases so not worth sending in yet. I read on the blowoutforums of people doing it and will try and find you the address. I heard they actually do take them off the pop list if they have the flip.
Another strong video, and great tips!! Any thoughts with PSA being closed, could lead to rushing inaccurate grades when they reopen?
This closure is going to kill their grading times. I'm not sure how they will handle it. For now SGC will be getting all the business lol
I doubt PSA will rush anything once they re-open. I think for them the clock will start on submission once they reopen and they will have an even larger backlog which may lead to longer wait times. I had sent a sub missing to them on March 9th on 20day turnaround hoping to get it back in June.
90s Bball Cards someone on Blowoutcards forum said they PSA sent them an email that their grade submission was almost done.

So, I have a sgc 9.5 Mahomes sage hit but I want to crack the case to have PSA grade, is this possible to do and is this what you call cross over grading?

Hey Matt-- thoughts on how best to go about grading a 2019 Panini Flawless Collegiate Team Logo Signatures Auto card? Comes sonically sealed in an official Fanatics PSA-like slab.
Wouldn't cracking this potentially hurt the value of the card inside as it is no longer sealed?

Hey man- really love the videos and as a new collector these are great.. Just curious- what are your thoughts on purchasing cards graded by companies like GMA and other - then re-submitting to PSA .. Curious if there's a big discrepancy between the grading
The grades are no where close. Look at the cards in the GMA 10 cases and they look like PSA 8's. Don't buy the GMA cards or any other cheap third party grading company cards UNLESS you can visually see the front and the back of the card and it looks to be in gem mint condition... I have seen some good looking cards but also have seen some terrible cards in those GEM 10 cases. So if a seller doesn't have good pics of the front and the back then move on.

Hi, have you ever cracked a serial numbered card graded by psa (9) and try to resubmit to shoot for a psa 10? Is this possible being its numbered and they’ll know that they originally graded it a 9! Thoughts please 🙏🏼
If it's a ultra rare 1/1 or /5 they may look and see if it has been graded but I have seen many examples when a card has been resubmitted and gotten a better or worse grade. In all honesty, I don't really think it's best practice to do this because you never know what you're going to get. It could come back a 7 or it could come back a 10. Grading is too inconsistent nowadays. I would just keep it in a PSA 9 case.

Hey brother. I need some advice. I have the option today to purchase a Charizard Reverse Holo from Legendary Collection from what appears to be a somewhat newer grading company called BSG (Best Grading Service) and I was hoping maybe you had some knowledge of them and was wondering whether you could give me any advice on if I should go through with the purchase with them or not? I was considering buying the card and then cracking it open and then re-submitting it to Beckett or PSA to increase the value. Do you have any knowledge of this newer grading company?
My LeBron 2003 upper deck rookie head of the class is in a case the fits it's description from wcg and it says it's a gem mint 10 should I leave it ?

I’m trying to purchase a gem mint 10 blue eyes white dragon and it has a crack on it. Does small cracks lower the value? If so should I resubmit it?
Tile cutters are a great idea mate. I've been using side cutters and they fire off pieces of case like shrapnel. 👍

I used wire cutters on a SGC and 2 PSA. The SGC, the top cracked right off and the card slid out. Both PSA cases, the crack went straight down the middle; I had to do a very careful small crack at the bottom to separate them. No Beckett slabs, I'd be scared to mangle one of those thick slabs (BCCG should be easy though.)
Trying to find the the over head set up for your phone in the gear section but I think it’s custom right?
Tin snips worked great for me to clip the top off. Then I used a small flathead to pry them open.
Just curious, if you bought pga graded cards, for cheap, and resubmitted them to a Psa or Beckett , because the value is so much higher,

Submitted a Brady Fleer Mystique RC to BGS, I didn't do a whole lot of prep before submitting, but it came back with three 9.5 sub grades...and a 7.5 on surface for an 8.5 overall. In your experience, does that feel like a good crack, clean correctly, and resubmit candidate?
You have to be exceptionally careful when cleaning the surface, it's very easy to damage it that way. It may just have damage that isn't visible to the naked eye.

I only cracked opened a couple of cases but I had it easy they were t-206 cards lots of room to break it open. I think I just used a pair of needle nose pliers and a flat head screwdriver.

You mean like listing cards %1,000 above market value, taking dark shady pictures of a card and claiming it's a PSA 10, listing a regular issue Topps card as a Topps Tiffany or Desert Shield?

Tough call, man. Only time will tell after this season starts back up, if it ever does. There's no way to tell. I've been getting asked about him a lot so he seems to have some healthy "hype".

Yeah you just submit it as a crossover. The downfall is it has to be submitted on its own and can’t be submitted under bulk submission so you’s pay the $20 which isn’t bad depending on the card but also shipping there and return shipping is paid by you as well.

Thanks for letting us know how to do this. But do you know HOW MANY POINTS AT THE MOST CAN INCREASE overall from the start of a card’s lowest subgrade? For example if the lowest subgrade starts out as a 5, the FINAL OVERALL grade can be no more than a 7 (two points higher than that subgrade 5), 8 (three points higher than that subgrade 5), 9 (four points higher than that subgrade 5) etc etc? I already asked PSA and BGS these questions but they still haven’t responded! Maybe because if they give me the answer and if I get disappointed, I won’t be spending my money on them every time like a sucker. But anyway please respond back as soon as you can.

You may notice SGC is the only one that really protects the card inside the case with those rubber inlays to hold it in place and show the corners plus it was also sealed in a sleeve where as the other two, PSA had nothing but the card inside and Beckett did also have the card in a sleeve inside the holder. So this proves that SGC has the most protection for the card inside the holder.
They look like rubber but it’s actually plastic so there goes that theory

Always better to crack the case and re send much higher odds of the grade improving

SGC and PSA not slabbing them in protective sleeves is bizarre. I want to send cards to them but I don’t like that.
If everybody would make an effort to do this the POP report would be way more accurate👍
4:16 finger prints on the card now! Better to use a lint free/microfiber cloth or hold card by the sides. Fingerprints are the second worst next to scratches and fuzzy edges/corners.
People IF you’re going to do this, PUT TAPE ON THE CASE SO THE PIECES ARENT FLYING AROUND! MUCH SAFER, AND THE CASE ISNT BROKEN INTO SO MANY PIECES..

PSA will not cut the sleeve if you submit it like that. They will send it back.
