    Tough to hear but appreciated as a newbie copywriter.
    But I’m def doubling down on copywriting. Why? Because I really just enjoy writing.
    Secondly, motivation.
    I’d rather continue and level up my writing skill and leverage or pivot to other areas I enjoy whether that’s content writing, scriptwriting and building up my audience on my socials.
    I think if I purposely went into TT shop knowing it feels like a temporary cash grab I’m going to perform poorly anyway since I just won’t be as motivated. And if I’m half assing it I for sure won’t be acquiring any skills.
    I see the main point though, if everything is in a temporal state then why not put your effort in the one that may succeed more.
    I’m on a couple email lists for copywriting recently. Guys like Derek Johansson promoting CopyHour mentioning people who have gone on to do other things outside of copywriting after taking the course (peculiar angle). or Ning Li mentioning that you’re gonna have to beat AI to make it and be in the top 15% (Not sure if I really wanted to be a top tier copywriter)
    So I’m ultimately appreciative for an additional perspective.
    I’ll make it work somehow.

    Only 8 minutes in, but I'll confirm that April - May has been the hardest month for my crew and I to get clients despite an otherwise good year. Mario touched on this, and I think that it's all coming to a head. The thing that I'm STILL hit up for is funnel buildouts, but I've yet to be taken up on anything else. I interpret this to mean that full-stack marketers have an edge, and that strategy is more important than copy. Fortunately, I've been collaborating with a massive fitness brand, and have struck a profit sharing deal. Going forward, all client work will be in support of that project. Then, once I'm ready, I'l launch some offers that I've had on the back burner.

    Hey Stefan, thanks for the video. I've been following all the emails you send and I just had to watch today's video. Apart from the main message of the video, I've just learned from you that sending cold traffic to a VSL doesn't work as well as it used to and that 1-2 minute ads may be a better strategy. So thanks for that information. I was sending traffic to a VSL a few months ago and it wasn't working, and I actually switched to 1-2 min ads on FB and Instagram. So it's great to hear that it wasn't just me being bad at writing long form VSLs and stuff. Cheers, Emiliano

      You definitely are not crazy - and also good on you for following your instincts and switching up the strategy. I think traffic to long-form VSLs is really fatiguing in most cases. I personally feel like that model isn't great. The reason why is a lot of businesses already have designers they work with, or email people they work with, etc. They don't always need all three things. The type of client who does need that is usually pretty early on and low level and can't pay a lot. Plus when you do that model - now you're responsible for three things working instead of just one thing working. So this means if any of those three things goes wrong, the client is unhappy and you're spending a ton of time working for free to fix it, or you lose the client.

      @StefanGeorgi1 4 місяці тому

      @@NicolettePanico I overall agree with this sentiment. I do think you can get quite good copy from AI that isn't generic though. And so I personally think there's a pretty good chance AI will replace most copywriters in the next few years. I think that the role of "copywriter" will evolve to be more about big ideas, strategy, and "judgement." Meaning you either come up with the big idea on your own, or you pick from the ones AI has presented based on your experience. One could argue though that in 3-5 years from now AI is so good that it can use its judgement and essentially create and test multiple Big Ideas/scripts and then report back the winner, and after that just continue to further refine it and run tests on its own. I don't think that's a "certain" future but I think there's a decent chance TBH.

I'm saying that planning on getting a bunch of clients if you're brand new is perhaps not the best bet. If you were to do something like TikTok Shop, the entire thing is copywriting. Coming up with hooks, writing scripts, testing opening sentences, etc. The medium/format has changed and there is less demand for copywriters from clients. • @realheckertrustmebro
      @realheckertrustmebro 5 місяців тому

      @@StefanGeorgi1No, of course not, but it's a performance game, and like any other performance games, you get paid on the value you provide, if someone doesn't plan on scaling it by becoming greater because they don't like doing it, then maybe it isn't for them, but for the ones who want to scale beyond 10k, they can surely do it by becoming great at it.
      And passion is not a metric that can be measured, you get passionate about things you're good at. One should avoid copywriting if they completely hate it, but they shouldn't disregard it just because they can't be passionate about the thing as they suck at it in the beginning.

    • @StefanGeorgi1
      @StefanGeorgi1 5 місяців тому +3

      So first off, I do get your frustration and I emphasize with it. At the same time the reality is that AI has changed things dramatically. For 30+ years you would have been pretty safe in becoming a copywriter. Now it's a much less safe career choice. I've answered questions about TikTok's longevity in replies to other comments here so I'd recommend reading those. The difference between this and an affiliate marketer is pretty straight forward though: as a copywriter you're competing against dozens or hundreds of other copywriters for a single client. As an affiliate you aren't really competing against other affiliates - it doesn't matter if 500 people or 50,000 people promote a product. In fact, the brand would generally prefer that 50,000 people do. So it's nowhere close to a zero sum game. The problem with affiliate marketing historically though was the cost and also knowledge of media buying. TikTok Shop is an equalizer. It may not be "the thing" in 6-12 months but for most people who are brand new to copywriting, realistically copy won't be "the thing" for them in 6-12 months anyways. And my entire point is that there's a higher probability of success for the average newbie with TT Shop than there is with getting clients as a copywriter.

      @@FaizanMehdi-t7o here's a section from an email I just wrote to my list about this, I think it'll help you have a better perspective:
      And to kind of bring everything full circle…
      Here’s another piece of advice I’ll share for the copywriters out there who feel uncomfortable with what I’m saying:
      Obviously, you don’t have to make this pivot if you don’t want to.
      I’d basically look at it like this:
      If you are currently making $5k+ a month as a copywriter, and you’re consistently getting work or have solid retainers, and you’re happy with what you’re doing, and you see a path to getting to $10k, $15k etc per month…
      Then maybe just stick with what you’re doing.
      You’ll definitely want to keep using AI to improve speed and efficiency, but it might make sense to not get “distracted” by TikTok Shop.
      Conversely though…
      If you’ve been in the world of copywriting for 3 months, 8 months, or 12 months…
      And you’ve never gotten a client, or you’ve only gotten a few clients…
      Or it just feels like this constant struggle, or like you’re always swimming upstream…
      Then you might want to consider making a pivot…
      And at least trying out the path of being a TikTok Shop Affiliate for the next 90 Days.
      With TT Shop you’re going to end up writing your own copy anyways…
      And you’ll also probably become a better copywriter as a result of doing this…
      Because YOU will be the one who is responsible for your success…
      And YOU will be the one coming up with different hooks and angles for the videos you make…
      Then measuring results based on how many views they get, how much engagement they get, and how many people end up buying.
      That data is super, super valuable…
      So even if you do ultimately decide to keep doing some copy work for clients in the future…
      You’ll probably be a much better copywriter based on this “in the trenches” experience you got with TikTok Shop…
      Plus you can take your knowledge about TikTok Shop to all the businesses out there who want to be selling on TT…
      And probably charge higher rates while being a more valuable asset to them as not just a copywriter but also a consultant…
      Which is pretty dope, right?

      @@StefanGeorgi1 it really is, im a big fan. quick question... how will you respond to other big dr copywriters responding to this video like zarak claiming that tt shop gives you no skills and is just a shiny-object model, whilst claiming the copywriting market is actually growing and that ecom and dr brands will always need copywriters for advertorials, UGC scripts, ads, sales pages, and checkout pages and to manage email lists? interested on hearing back from you

      @@ajevvachher I like Zarak a lot, he’s a super smart and talented kid. As to the argument presented here though: I think there will continue being some demand for copywriters for a while, but that it has shrunk and will continue to shrink . The issue is that if we just look at probabilities, the odds of the average person making $5k a month consistently as a copywriter are lower than they’ve ever been, and those odds will continue to get worse. We’re already seeing pretty decent copywriters get squeezed by AI more and more too, thus increasing competition while demand shrinks. So you’ve got lower than ever demand, higher than ever supply, and more competition than ever. Plus Ai will keep getting better.
      So to me all this means that most people really shouldn’t plan on a long term career as a copywriter. And if they are getting into copywriting for short term financial gain, TT Shop has more upside and probably gives them a higher chance of success.
      This doesn’t mean everyone who does TT Shop will win. But they are probably more likely to win with this platform than with writing copy for clients.

      lol, I've been creating content and teaching for several years. Copywriting is still a good skill, trying to be a copywriter to generate an income is probably not the best path for most people who are early on. So if anything it's good you're watching this vid now vs. going down the rabbit hole for the next 6-12 months.

      Honestly the best answer is to pick one thing and stick with it. If you are smart enough and hard working enough and committed enough you can succeed with most things. I'm not advocating for everyone to go be a TT Shop Affiliate as much as mentioning this as a viable option. And also yes, if I was starting from scratch it's probably what I would focus on at this place and time. I don't think copywriting is a viable long-term (or even medium-term) option for most people. I think this was true before AI TBH but I think it's especially true now. Also another really good (but very unsexy) option is to go work with a company that's having success right now and learn both valuable skills and how to run a business, so that when you go out on your own you have a higher probability of success.

      @@StefanGeorgi1 So how is tt shop a viable long term option when taking account that tiktok might get banned soon in the us, and also that this whole tt shop thing is relatively new and that the wave might soon be over...?

      @@MarkZenkins I address the ban stuff at the end of the video and also psychology about “long-term.” To be honest I don’t know if TT is a long term solution but it might be a good option for people for the next 6-12 months. And you are going to learn a lot of skills that will be transferable to other platforms. Ultimately my point though is not that TT Shop specifically is “the future,” but that getting into copywriting to have a long career definitely is not the future. And short term I feel like avg person probably has a higher probability on TT Shop than becoming a copywriter.
