    We are already under rationing, its done by price. Have started switching off and unplugging from the wall to prevent vampire energy loss. If it is electronic or has a motherboard it constantly drains energy.

    What ive seen from multiple sources now is that power cuts and restrictions is now inevitable, not a matter of if but when.

      We have power cuts all the time anyway, whole road was running off a generator a couple of weeks ago. goodness knows what would happen if they forced a smart meter on us, or did away with gas, wood stoves etc

    I got to be honest I will be the last possible person to switch to smart anything, if it’s smart it means it can be controlled by outside influences be that government or hackers, also picture this, a family member has been rushed to hospital at 3am and you need to get to hospital quickly, jump in your EV and boom it’s flat as a turd because some AI thought you might not need it. Definitely not for me.

      I was watching a YT video about smart meters and how insecure they are all it would take is to compromise a small percentage of them and rapidly switch them on and off to trip the grid out. People just don’t realise how fragile the system is especially as utility companies haven’t been doing enough maintenance I couldn’t believe it when my local water pumping stations failed again! Things are only going to get worse if you’re not prepping then you will be in for a big shock one day and that day is closer than you think!

      Imagine being dumb enough not to accept a smart meter lol.
      The only thing they control is access to cheaper tarrifs, so we now get 5 hours from midnight at 8.5p kwh.
      So dishwasher, tumbler, washing machine all run at night for pennies.

    I have always bought second hand cars. To buy a second hand electric car the problem is it will (or soon) need a new battery which costs a huge amount of money. Hence low resale values. If you have the money to keep on regularly updating them, then fair enough, but I couldn't afford it.

    You understand that the Government do not have any money? They have tax payers money. When the energy company are given money by the Gov to pay you to lower your energy usage, they are giving them your money. All the money given back to customers is recouped via the tax we pay and our energy bills.

    I've been completely off grid for 13 years since I was flooded in Brisbane in 2011. It was hard working it all out as low voltage DC systems were not really a thing. But slow and steadily, I managed to get everything up and running. When you live this way you don't need to prepare, you just live. Helps the planet, helps your wallet, and puts the control back in your hands. Then you can do food, water and transport and anything else you can think of.

      Over panel the system. Just keep under max OC voltage with a 10 percent margin for low temp conditions for safety.
      Ignore max wats / amps mppt be in separate or intergraded into a power bank.will handle that.

    • @paulgrandy1670
      @paulgrandy1670 Місяць тому +2

      I solved this problem 13 years ago. It is just simple maths and measurements. On a sunny day how much do you need? For me it was 18amps at 24v (3 x 36v panels). So on a cloudy day through testing I worked out I needed twice that. On a rainy day I needed 6 times that. Dark heavy rain is like night time, you will get nothing. But you could have a pedal generator, wind generator, petrol DC generator or just size you battery bank to cope. I have not used a backup generator in 13 years. Anyone can charge on a sunny day but, bring fridges and freezers into it and they need to run 24/7/365, it not as easy. But it is also not that hard. You just need the roof space. Panels are cheap. This is for an all DC set up no AC.

    Hi steve,
    Good video bud.
    Octopus do it as you've said, demand side manipulation be in civil or industrial has been in place for a few years now.its here here to stay and is largely encouraged by money rewards .
    I totaly agree folks , mostly, don't understand how the grid works, how relay under invested in our grid is..I could go on and on.its video in its self .
    This month alone we had two converging weather fronts which ment wind generation died, this coupled with a few outages etc ment the black out warning alert and DNO intervention was triggered.
    The targets are pie in the sky , the infrastructure is simply not there, it can take 10 years to get a plant or project connection to the grid atm it's awfull.

    It may be voluntary now, but when energy pressures get worse it won’t be an option. They won’t however turn my power off unless they turn power off for my whole region (there are emergency plans for that where regions have their energy turned off grid by grid check your energy bill to see what your region is and there’s a website that provides info on this these provisions date back to the last war) as I didn’t let them install a smart meter 😁 and even if they do pull the plug I’m already prepared and have been doing energy arbitrage with my off grid battery storage to save money so bring it on Ed M. 😂

    Thank you for the level headed video,
    I was wondering what the approach to nuclear is going to be, it is a hugely vulnerable power source in an age where hackers can reach into any country, or straight forward missile attacks can devastate an area with nuclear facilities.
    The diminishing oil and gas in the North Sea are being sold off to the highest bidder, so sooner or later the only realistic option for cheap energy will be nenewables.

      Yes the fast charging or fast discharging shortens life. Extra cycles shorten you usable life. Over or under temperature shortens life. Are you going to be compensated for a new 16k battery? My first 2011 lifepo4 lasted 12 years. My newer ones should be 18 years before they die. But that is because I know how to look after them. I'm sure the grid won't be kind to your battery.

    • @bordersw1239
      @bordersw1239 Місяць тому

      The maximum they could take out would be 7KW per hour, probably much less due to wiring constraints. You would still have ultimate control - don’t plug it in during the hours they want you to send back to grid.

    Great video Steve.
    My two pence worth.
    Net zero is a complete none sense. Carbon dioxide levels are 0.04% of the atmosphere. At 0.02% plant life dies. Temperature in the UK in the Roman times was 2 degree higher than now. Not one person has ever explained how this can be fact but that we are causing climate change and the planet is not just going through another temperature cycle that has been ongoing for billions of years.
    I agree green energy is a good thing but it is not reliable 100% of the time even if wind and solar are utilised. Battery storage is a big help to these systems but battery technology and availability is no where near the required standard for grid size usage. And the raw materials required to build them to get anywhere near the required sizes require massive amounts of energy to mine for them in places like chile. Which then take huge amounts of power/energy/fuel to get them here. Not to mention huge amounts of money to purchase them when every other country needs them too.
    Ed Miliband is a complete moron. In fact the whole Labour government have no idea how to manage money let alone manage our energy security. This is why our electricity prices are the highest in all of Europe. Dark times ahead. Literally.

    • @everydayprepper
      @everydayprepper  Місяць тому

      Thanks for the comment. Would you please clarify your CO2 figures? Currently the percentage of carbon dioxide in the atmosphere is just over 0.04%. Plant life can tolerate a max of around 0.5%. What you are saying is that we are already at double the amount plants can endure. I still see thriving plant life so your numbers don't add up, please clarify.

    • @borakian
      @borakian Місяць тому +1

      @ hi Steve. The 0.02 is the minimum. Below that plant life dies. And the establishment along with mindless sheep in our society seems to want a reduction. People need to get back to researching things for themselves.
