- Some of my first shots with the new Schmeisser SP9, the new 9mm AR-style straight pull rifle from Germany, designed for the restricted UK market. Trying this out to see if it will work well for PCC competitions.

1:14 Is UKPSA finally going to add a straight-pull category? Straight-pulls are common for IPSC rifle matches in Australia & New Zealand, and it would be fantastic to see the UK adopt something similar!
I don't know of any plans, but I hope so! Would be great, I agree :) what I don't know at the moment, is if a straight pull is going to be faster than lever actions, which is what most people use in the UK for the rare PCC comps... The lever action is debatably faster, but perhaps time saved on mag changes vs hand feeding into the tube on a lever action makes up for it... Yet to be seen heh.
@@asgrimpews Shocked to hear that PCC matches in the UK are actually a thing😂 Hopefully this becomes a real discipline and we start seeing 9mm lever guns competing against 9mm straight pulls in the UK very soon🇬🇧
Yep! It's not super popular, I only know one range that puts them on at the moment, and they're all lever action shooters heh. I hope this Schmeisser 9mm SP, and also the SGC 9mm straight pull (made in UK!) will change that :)

This is a straight pull, so not likely to beat a semi auto MP5 😂 but Schmeisser does the AR9 in semi auto in countries that allow it. Polenar Tactical did a video on it a while back 👍
@@asgrimpews lol i was thinking in terms of less recoil due the locked breach design vs roller locked .
In semi auto 9mm PCC's with a locked breach , they always have less recoil / muzzle rise etc then blow back or roller locked blow back designs. It would not surprise me that in a few years , if schmeisser will use a locked breach (same as this but with a gas system) on they 9MM PCC for EU / US shooters
Magpul 21rnd mags run well, but lack the metal feed lips of the Glock ones.
That's good to know! I got some Glock mags, and they are much better. May pick up a Magpul one at some point, someone else said they're good too! 🤘
Hi mate can you swap out the handguard on these for any milspec one on the market, as if I do go for one Id like to put a BCM on it
I'm not 100% sure, but I'd expect so! Might be worth checking with Edgar Brothers to be sure 🤘

would be nice if PCC makers stop using glock mags and use instead sig mpx or colt mags instead , looks better.
how is the feed ramp like?
does it throw the cases a good distance ?
can you get the option of a flash hider instead of having a muzzle break ? which looks ridiculous on a 9mm
Sure, Glock mags are ok though. Beggars can't be choosers in the UK I suppose 😁 Feed ramp seems sufficient, most of the internals are very similar to an AR, including feed ramp (but a single ramp unlike an AR dual feed ramp, naturally). Ejection could be a little better; I mentioned in the video you gotta make sure you pull it back reasonably fast or ejection will be poor. Once you're in the habit, it'll be ok I think. As for muzzle devices, it's threaded 14x1 I believe, so you could replace the factory muzzle brake if you wanted. I've not done much from the factory yet, beyond fitting the Holosun 👌
The straight pull handle looks stupid, I would remove it.
The side charging handle is removable 👍 can still be charged with the usual T handle still
