There's also several excel functions that can look for the RMSE in a single command, the std dev, the square root, etc. As i said earlier, Excel is meant to be user friendly and can work just as well if you're good or bad at programming. What R does better is to allow you to run Machine Learning algorithms and automate tasks for large (400k +) databases but recently Excel introduced Python integration so i guess the only difference is the size of the database. I would still teach all my students with Excel first to understand the structure of the database first then switch to R/Python.
Awesome. R is by far superior beyond any reasonable doughty specially on mosaic (maths operations, stats computation....). From my experience, one can easily appreciate the advantages of R over Excel once he has experienced Excel. I had to put on hold my training of advanced/expert Excel just to experience R capabilities even not diving deep. It is absolutely mind blowing. I am easily playing around in R with a dataset with over 5 millions data points/observations. I have no coding neither cs background. Just intermediate alegra!

With the way this contrasted script flow versus programming with addresses, I was somewhat expecting you would go on a tangent about Fortran programming style.

This is just something I put together in a few minutes to show my intro stat students why I teach with R instead of excel.
One might do it in power query and all looks a bit different in Excel as well.
