@@WhimsicallyMacabreMusic I've been practicing it the past couple days and I love it even more. The intro you made for it is especially beautiful, could play this for hours.
That’s lovely to hear, thank you. I’m so glad you’re enjoying playing it! I’m planning on arranging more of his songs soon, have done four so far. When I’m making the arrangements, I end up listening over and over, and even though I love the song already, I end up more in love with it the more I listen.
It's four in the morning, the end of December I'm writing you now just to see if you're better New York is cold, but I like where I'm living There's music on Clinton Street all through the evening I hear that you're building your little house deep in the desert You're living for nothing now, I hope you're keeping some kind of record Yes, and Jane came by with a lock of your hair She said that you gave it to her That night that you planned to go clear Did you ever go clear? Ah, the last time we saw you you looked so much older Your famous blue raincoat was torn at the shoulder You'd been to the station to meet every train, and You came home without Lili Marlene And you treated my woman to a flake of your life And when she came back she was nobody's wife Well I see you there with the rose in your teeth One more thin gypsy thief Well, I see Jane's awake She sends her regards And what can I tell you my brother, my killer What can I possibly say? I guess that I miss you, I guess I forgive you I'm glad you stood in my way If you ever come by here, for Jane or for me Well, your enemy is sleeping, and his woman is free Yes, and thanks, for the trouble you took from her eyes I thought it was there for good so I never tried And Jane came by with a lock of your hair She said that you gave it to her That night that you planned to go clear
Beautiful cover! In the original version this is one of most emotional songs I know, and I think it is very difficult to do it justice. Really well done.
beautiful... I love it.. love it. Every single time I listen to this song I feel so hard that it resonates my time. No one ever should treat anyone as the flake of his/her life.......
Hi! Do you mean you'll sing and use this as your accompaniment? That's fine with me. I'm curious to hear it when you're finished if you're willing to share it with me!
This solo can prove that Leonard Cohen has a very unique style of singing. You'll either love or....love it? Haha. He takes breaks and makes pauses to make the song more felt and strong. It seems a little offbeat and it's hard to copy as a singer.
@@WhimsicallyMacabreMusic BTW, great cover. I don't really think I even need to say that. You caught and maintained the originality of the song, with finesse! Beautiful.
Hi! I was wondering if it would be possible to use your beautiful recording as an accompaniment? Like an earlier poster I am working on a vocal version of this song. Best Regards!
Such a beautiful song. And it's beautiful on the piano as well. Thank you.
yesididitverywell Thank you!

This song always hits me pretty hard emotionally as well, so that means a lot. Thank you so much!
I've just started learning the piano, and I hope one day to be able to play this song as beautifully as you. It's one of my favourite LC songs

Thank you so much! Cohen's lyrics are so evocative & say so much with so little.

Interesting, I agree, to me his singing feels improvisatory even though it's carefully planned.

Any chance we can get the notes? This is amazing and I want to play it too :(

Hi! Yes, that's fine with me. Please do give credit to me, Stacy Fahrion/Whimsically Macabre Music. I'd love to hear your performance! :)
The bass line is identical to Schubert's Serenade. Looks like Cohen was inspired by Schubert
Very beautiful cover wouahhhh !!! :) +1 sub !
Thank you so much, Jean! :)
