190 Years old Pickle Shop I HIDDEN Food GEMS of JAIPUR I Malpua & Tipore + Malai Roti & Sev Bhaji

- Along with our host Vinayak we took a trip down the historic lanes of Jaipur to relish some of the incredible dishes from there and to gather the stories behind their lasting legacy. Let's acquaint you with some of these legendary places.
The first stop was Vijay Lal Achar Wala whose pickles have been tantalising the taste buds for the past 180 years. Here we tried the garlic, sweet lime, mango laccha and ker ka achar. The taste was just phenomenal.
The second stop was Pannalal Kulfiwale where we tried a glass of creamya and luscious shahi rabri. The rose flavour added a refreshing touch to this rich drink.
The third stop was Shri Radhe Govind Puri Bhadar where we tried some home style malpua with mirchi ke tapore and desi ghee puri with aalu dum. The taste of both the combinations was homely and super gratifying.
The fourth stop was Kalkatta Chaat Bhandar where we polished off a flamboyant plate of dahi vada that was topped with generous amount of smooth beaten curd, lip smacking chutneys etc.
The last stop was Baba Ka Dhaba on Jaipur Kota Highway. They are renowned for their malai roti and different curries like dal and sev bhaji. The malai roti was an acquired taste for us because it is topped with salt and chilli powder. But the sev curry was very toothsome.

There are many places in India, especially in Punjab, AP & TS, where you get to try the pickles before you buy.
Gassa / nivala / mudda / mudde / bukka / ghaas / kaur etc., are a morsel of food.

Not just that there s history about food, but also about any old food store, or in the pursuit of a food vendor... it for sure brings a smile to the listener, wen they say they ve finally accomplished n are happy n content wth there work....
The grandeur of the pink city, reflects in its beautiful architecture, its cuisine, n the folk art n crafts... infact the 'band of musicians' is so famous, that it is replicated in wood craft products, promoted from Jaipur, and adorns the living rooms of many a homes...
I would say, tht "DFW"... not just focuses on food, but blends the traditional culture n heritage along with it....😊

Love the video, though i do have to tell you... this is not the only shop doing specialty aachars or letting you taste them. there is a Sindhi area newr Bombay, called Kalyan/Ulhasnager, where in one of the major markets, you will find not one but multiple shops like this but much bigger, with more variety and unimaginable types of Achaars. they too have been around for 100's of years... you can go inside each shop, they let you taste whatever you want. I am usually mesmerised whenever there!
