I was there as a civilian contractor working at the Satellite tracking station, was an interesting experience. Definately not for people who cannot handle the insolation, you are cut off from a lot of the amenities one might expect back in the states.
Camp Century, only about 150miles away: Upon its abandonment only the reaction chamber of the nuclear generator was taken. 9,200 tons of physical waste (building infrastructure), 200,000 liters of diesel fuel, 24,000,000 liters of biological waste, and 1,200,000,000 Bq (unit of radioactivity) of radioactive material were left at Camp Century. What will happen when it gets warmer? I wish you folks would have asked the commander about this. Check out operation Iceworm
Nike/Ajax missile site. The clamshell doors would open, a huge elevator would lift the entire launcher with missile to ground level, missile fired... These were really large Sam's. (Surface to air missile's) and they're not just in remote forward area's. They're all ACROSS the U.S. you still see the now surplus sites( some in perfect condition with functional launch elevator's) coming around for sale every so often.
The USAF is phasing that pattern out, it's called "ABU". I googled "ABU extreme parka" and only got the normal hits, not what he's wearing. You can get the gray ones online, I can say I never wore them as they were too bulky but are warm.

@@superchuck3259 Please, these are all over where I live. I scrambled through a few as a kid. There's a one as a restored museum near the Golden Gate Bridge. Ahh I dunno about 1000 miles away. Is this on a mountain? Unless the missile is way up there above the ground. Weather radars can only see clouds about 80-140 miles away. Not sure if the Media is exaggerating here.
Ballistic missiles fly pretty high... and those radars are powerful... If the aliens spot us it won't be the TV-signals, it'll be the US and Russian early warning radars blinking like a lighthouse as the Earth rotates.
On November 16, 1957, Minister of State and Foreign Affairs, H.C. Hansen (S) a note to the American ambassador to Denmark, Val Peterson. The note was a response to a question as to whether the Danish government wanted to be informed if the United States stationed nuclear weapons in Greenland. H.C. Hansen indirectly agreed that the United States placed nuclear weapons in Greenland. This was an extremely controversial decision, as the official Danish policy was that no nuclear weapons should be stationed on Danish soil in peacetime. Neither the government nor the foreign policy committee was informed of the decision, which was therefore contrary to the democratic principles. The public first became aware of the memorandum in 1995. The letter from H.C. Hansen to the American ambassador to Denmark, Val Peterson: "16. november 1957 During your visit here some days ago you made some remarks about the possible storing of supplies of munition of a special kind on the defence areas in Greenland. I gathered that your Government did not see any problem in this matter, which in its opinion was covered by the Agreement of April 27, 1951, according to which each Government will take such measures as are necessary or appropriate to carry out their responsibilities in Greenland and the U.S. Government is entitled to store supplies, provide for the protection of the area etc. and all materials, supplies etc. shall be permitted entry into Greenland free of inspection. You did not submit any concrete plan as to such possible storing, nor did you ask questions as to the attitude of the Danish Government to this item. I do not think that your remarks give rise to any comments from my side."
sweetgrab333, Maybe we should drive to the nearest foreign government military base here in the USA and ask if they are doing that to us. What? There ARE no foreign military bases here in tne USA? Just US Military Bases in 188 foreign countries? I don't suppose that costs far more than what we're told, does it?
The original name was Camp Century, worth looking that up. Perhaps the world is mostly worried about the country that did use a nuclear bomb against a country, twice?

Nuclear bombs have never been used. Get your facts straight.
