Creativity is very hard to measure, it's not like here's a number your x creative, your y creative
Look at the recent open source lz hack, the ability to think and came up with such ingenious exploit has truly left the community speechless
That's a new type of attack vector
Ai just captures the pattern and reiterate on that pattern (for ex: let's say da Vinci's art style), it cannot make a totally novel & unique pattern, it needs existing knowledge to train on, it cannot create new knowledge, because that requires research, creative thinking.
Automation cannot replace the ability to think, think for different approaches to solve a problem, a desire, a need. Think for overcoming the obstacle that hindering the desired outcome

For example, I REFUSE to work with HF and t-Bu-Li. If we can get robots in the lab to work with those more dangerous chemicals, I'm all for it.

I disagree with the sushi example. It can be personalised as well, and you can get sushi with a small difference you prefer. But, new problem appears there - privacy. Also, you mentioned that people still chose interaction with human in McDonald’s. I would say it is just matter of time, because people’s brain want to have familiar experience, and interaction with robot is still kind of exotic. It is not about willingness to interact with people, but simply a habit.

I make sure I stay up to date with these trends and look at new released tools in this realm as a financial analyst, yes, I'm very well aware. AI isn't just any technology, it's the real game changer in just about every aspect of our lives. Robots are NOT the problem (I've always been fascinated with them too), it's people who keep using them in an attempting negative fear instilling context or who just want to use them to gain or retain their elite power money hungry status at the expense of everybody that are the problem. AI is a good thing, not a problem, it has to be used the "correct" way for the "correct" reason(s). Embrace and awareness of AI, not avoidance or the status quo.

But I think you're right Mosh in your assumption that people will know intrinsically what is right-and they'll probably want to point that out when some company that you've already mentioned may also want to go down a certain path that'll feel decidedly cold. LOL
Maybe it'll be only acceptable to have robots that behave in a more human-like way when around people making sure that the robots are restricted in what they can do. I mean, say it was possible to get a 'top of the range' robot that could do everything. It's only going to be a matter of time before someone starts to abuse its capabilities, right. ;)

Its a matter of normelisation, currently many perhaps won't accept having a robotic restaurant however there should be incentives for one to choose a robotic one over the one run by poeopel, one of it is pricing. Restaurants biggest cost is primarly people who work there, rental cost and perhaps location taxes however of these cost can be reduced or eliminated with the benefit of cheaper food, many might prefer this also considering many do takeouts. Also remember a robot can't spit in your drink

Coders today are the assemblers of the American manufacturing workers of the 1960's, then automation came. If you can do your job at a desk, you will become replaceable. As I told many kids that want to get into science, "Make sure you're not at a desk 8 hours day, but in the lab testing, deploying the instrument that farms the data, you're the guy who isn't just at the desk, but hands on too."

Been working with IT since early 90's. There's been several "nah... not gonna happening" moments.
Nah, color monitors are too expensive, not gonna happen...
Nah, DOS systems work fine, we don't need windows systems...
Nah, 540MB is more than enough, we will never need that much space...
Nah, 8MB RAM is perfect, I can't see a scenario where we will need much more than that...
Nah, internet is only a dream, just a flex for rich people...
Nah, browsers don't need javascript, static text and pictures are good enough...
Nah, people won't use bank systems over the internet, can't print money, we'll always need to go to a bank...
And many others we use on a daily basis and don't even pay attention anymore.
For more than 25 years I've seen trends come and go and I've seen shunned stuff coming to stay. To me, the golden years of developing are over. AI tools will become so advanced and so strong, that developers will be little by little becoming obsolete. In a few years, a simple user will just make crude sketch of what they want and a whole thing will be made. Code, database, services, testing, CI/CD and all those little things we mend together to make a big thing will all be done and running with a simple "yeah, put it online".
And for the video topic, robots already have taken and will keep taking jobs. The more repetitive ones are already taken, the not so much repetition too. I've seen whole sectors of people being replaced by robots, not only administrative positions, but tech too. Don't lie to yourself, IT will someday become so advanced that machines will build machines, code will build code and people, well, people will still be arguing about it.

People like familiar experiences, if we were born in a world where the sushi chef is a robot, it would be only natural to us. In that case, we would also prefer a robot instead of a human, the same way for us there are numerous jobs that are done by robots today that we don't care anymore. I much more prefer a robot to do the quality control of the wings of an airplane, than a human. We rely on automated tests on our softwares! We don't want robots as recepcionists because they touch the uncanny valley. The moment they feel natural enough to humans, they are going to take over those jobs. I think it's naive to think that creativity can only be a human thing. Our brain uses the environment and all the readings of what it thinks to be the reality to create new things based on that. It's always based on past experiences. The moment an AI has enough sensors to understand the world, it will have everything to do a creative task, and it certainly will. And when it does, the next step will probably be: why do I serve such inferior beings?

The same with petrol stations, fully automated not a single manned lane and either pay with card at automated lane or leave if you have cash and need to pay at a manned till. Most jobs have a significant repetitive element and are done in a predictable environment. Therefore, most jobs will be taken by AI. This would apply across all sectors from warehouse operatives to surgeons. That's what I like about AI, it doesn't discriminate! Mosh is correct about AI not replacing software engineers but that's based on current capabilities. AI is advancing at a staggering pace and the jury is still out on the impact on jobs. Personally, I wouldn't be too optimistic because the point of AI is to replace human intelligence and therefore to cut the cost of staff. Customers may like to be served by humans but business owners care only about profits. Customers won't pay more simply to have a human serve up their burger.

First issue why is there a labor shortage in warehouse? Because there are horror stories of people being overworked, underpaid and treated badly. Second, A robot could definitely remember your name, face and make your food exactly the way you like it and people love robot servers, Hotpot places use them all the times and those restaurants are always packed. Third, Companies only care about one thing and that’s profit they don’t care how many people are unemployed as long as they make more money than the year before

How do companies make money? By customers. If customers don’t want what a business offers, that business will be out of the game no matter how much they optimized their costs through technology.

@@programmingwithmosh Everyone is still going to buy from Amazon even if all their warehouse workers are robots even if all their delivery vehicles are autonomous because they're monopolies or Oligopolies. How are all those unemployed people going to afford anything? The same way people living in poverty do now credit cards, title loans, more debt and more homelessness.

Even a chef gets bored making the same menu. Consistency is also very important in food service. If I am craving something I had before, I want it to taste the same or better. Robots will allow this to happen and chefs can focus on menus. Talk to chefs, you will hear them say that making the same food everyday is boring and finding line staff is an ongoing battle as there are not enough of them to go around so poaching has to happen.
Also if robots can help tame prices, consumers will eventually accept them. Right now with our high inflation, people want deals, that is driving people.

its all a matter of perspective and cost...Yes i would prefer man made sushi, But if robot can make it much cheeper, and ppl get used to it you will still see a mass reduction of 'sushi chefs' needed with time.

While we were still weak, at the right moment, Christ died for ungodly people. It isn’t often that someone will die for a righteous person, though maybe someone might dare to die for a good person. But God shows his love for us, because while we were still sinners Christ died for us. So, now that we have been made righteous by his blood, we can be even more certain that we will be saved from God’s wrath through him. If we were reconciled to God through the death of his Son while we were still enemies, now that we have been reconciled, how much more certain is it that we will be saved by his life?
