Hi Scott, Thanks for responding to my request. This video was helpful and will be kept for future review. It would be interesting to have a comparison of the same tune in 6/8 and 12/8, jig and slide. And in a post below markc asked about foot tapping. This would be a great video lesson. In relationship to the written music, where does the tap or click fall? Keeping rhythm is my musical downfall! And another video request. A video about you! Are you a professional music or music teacher? How did you begin your musical pursuit and such? Michael
Keeping rhythm is my musical downfall! Same here mine also. you can actually do a test here on youtube and that was the outcome for me as far as rhythm is concerned .
Yes, unless the rhythm dominates the emphasis. For example, in a march or reel the cadence dominates as the pace. In a hornpipe, however, the horn pipe rhythm gives the cadence a different feel.
could you show us the notes for this?? Maybe that would help? Although i HEAR it whenever i first look at a piece of music i can't figure out where to put the emphasis on which notes? I hope i am not asking too many stupid questions here...
how the heck do you tap with foot and play... i can't do that lol, this is what i struggle with the most. The entire music theory i have forgotten all of it and i find it extremely hard to pick it up again.
Tapping the foot while playing is quite essential and well worth practising. A good tune type to get starting with would be polkas. Best of luck and stomp away!
Things we all learned years ago do tend to fade. If you’ve tried a metronome, turn up the volume and tap at least a toe or the tip of your foot to the metronome. Some use the heel. Do that for a bit, and then start playing. After a bit your foot will take the place of the metronome. I first learned to do this when I was seven, so life long habit. Play something fun that is foot stomping worthy like Petter said. If it’s too frustrating don’t worry about it.
I find the foot tapping perplexing. How does the tap relate to both playing and notation? It is hard, if not impossible, to divide my attention between playing and keeping time.

Michael, wonderful ideas and recommendations. If I introduce myself better you know I’ll ask folks to do the same. 😂
I should add, if you are playing by yourself, even recording you could say it is a means of personalizing.
@@markc1234golf Maybe we could go philosophic and say time is an illusion...
🤣😂
Kadence is where you put Emphasis right?

I love your questions! I am so glad you asked this. That will be a great clarification to provide.
@@LowDWhistle thanks look forward to that

@@LowDWhistle 😂😂haha good idea . yes heels is easier for some bizarre reason
For me it depends whether I’m sitting, standing, and even how I am balanced
I wish you can deep into this lesson mostly the 1.2.3 rhythm how to play it it's not that easy
Good idea. Thanks for asking. I'll add that to the list of topics of things we need to talk about.
