Moat / competitive advantage - as far as metrics we can evaluate peer group as part of it - if there are many similar companies with great metrics, then the industry as it matures may present lower margins.
Where can I get the data of insider shares percentage, or just how the shares are between individual investors . The Operating breakdown chart in the video
This is one of the best videos I ever watched… yes, most ppl treat value investing and growth investing exclusive… actually, they sometimes go hand in hand…
Do an update on Csiq, they have a lot of positive news and revenue for the next quarters will be huge increase year over year. I’m not sure why the stock is so low.
@@Kondziu99PL that’s the most regarded answer ever. By what metric? Everyone know the stock is stupid cheap especially when considering the massive growth in revenue
@@anandbeniprasad3409 Solar module manufacturing, despite the popularization of solar energy, can still be difficult to operate in. The competition is tough and most revenue are contract based. I understand csiq is expanding its revenue sources to become more like a holding company but that takes time. Frankly I would rather own other renewable holding company like $AY for immediate 4% dividends.
Most of the Solar companies are down from their highest price and volatile (JKS, FSLR, SPWR). I like CSIQ but I aim for the future and I don't worry too much about the present price. Also do not forget that the competition in this sector is huge. I would love to see a review about REGI in this channel. With an ownership breakdown of 97% in Institutions and 2.3% of Individuals looks crazy.
What I thought was so good about this video was that none of your 3 criteria entail complicated accounting , especially what management are doing with their money vs what they are doing with your money . It is often not easy to spot share ownership from published annual reports . From South Africa , great video.
really appreciate you laying out the bullet points at the end there, really helps for taking clear and concise notes. The attention to detail does not go unnoticed
Great to focus on future potential earnings rather than present earnings. But how do you determine that? And you failed to mention Covid's role in boosting Amazon sales. Pretty big omission.
Great video, as usual! I think that when many people talk about value investing vs growth investing, they are primarily considering whether or not a large margin of safety is applied. A value investor would only buy if it is available at a big discount to their estimation of its fair value, whereas other investors might be happy to pay fair value or even pay a premium if they were confident it will continue to grow. That’s how I currently see the difference, anyway. But you’re right, either way, both investors want the same thing: buying something more valuable in the future than it is today.
Investing is as much an art as it is a science. There is no certainty in investing. Only possibilities and probabilities. If you have vision and can see the probabilities of outcomes and can get a feel for how competent and driven the management is at a company , then you may have a winner. It isn't rocket science but it isn't easy either.
This was very helpful. I try to focus on forward P/E, if rev is growing, and debt. Sometimes i feel i look too much at debt and lately been trying to focus on FCF.

Have a look at Jaguar gold JAG.TO 98% insider ownership. The CEO was buying heavily two months ago . The cash flow is fantastic! Amazing deal in my opinion.
Hi Daniel - Just read in the intelligent investor: “One fairly dependable sign of the approaching end of a bull swing is the fact that new common stocks of small and nondescript companies [IPOs] are offered at prices somewhat higher than the current level for many medium-sized companies with a long market history.” What do you think about this? It seems to completely describe today’s market conditions.
The most important one ☝️ for is the forward P/E to the average sector plus the full valuation if I own the full company also yours are important which TCNNF is similar investing to TTCF IMO!!!
Great video As always Daniel. I also like to consider the "financial crisis" survivability of the business, in times of poverty people will still spend their last money on cigaretes, mj and a fresh Coca Cola, not on a new car
lol you recommending analysis...how come you analysis failed for stocks that are (were) largest position in your portfolio, e.g. Trulieve, Canadian Solar, etc... :). Reason I put in "were" in bracket", since you are not updating us on your portfolio since months and not sure where you stand as of now.
As far as I know, Trulieve and Canadian Solar are still large positions in his portfolio. Not sure what you mean by “analysis failed”? If you mean the stock price is going down, it’s worth noting that a business’s current value and its current stock price frequently get out of sync in the short term. That’s why I think it’s best to look mostly at the underlying business and only consider the stock price for buying opportunities. Does this seem reasonable?
@@JeanOfmArc How long actually is short term, more than 4 months? Both those stocks are down since March, while majority of the market recovered from March setoffs. So you mean its just these stocks out of sync since 4 months :)
@@KD-il8ys If you can predict the bottom of the stock as nobody can then please inform the rest of us. Daniel is looking for 10 + years holding Trulieve. He calculates what the value the company will bring in terms of growth, revenue and earnings to its shareholders against what the current share price would be worth then vs what you pay today hence what value you get. If you buy a tv for 200 USD you might think it's a great value. Then the same tv goes further on sale to 180 USD. It doesn't mean that the first purchase price was expensive, it means the new lower price is EVEN better value. In the short term, a stocks share price is a voting machine. In the long term, its share price will reflect fundamentals.
I'm not taking about prediction here, its more of a question on past, why those stocks are down? Any dummy would know that no one can predict market in future, can you tell me why they been down, since you seems quiet smart to understand analysis, so must have an idea. If you dont, then not sure what you are learning from these analysis, than wasting time.
@@KD-il8ys I'm not knowledgeable on Canadian solar but in Trulieve case they are down recently because they ran up quickly late last year with heavily expecting full federal legalization. It ran up fast and people took home winnings then the news came up about it probably taking a few years for legalization to happen and it's oversold. It really isn't a big deal for Trulieve since they are already operational and profitable and continuously executing accordingly. I personally think they got a good chance at 6-15 x in value from its current share price over the coming decade. FYI I bought in at 36.50 USD.
