    You deserve a trophy for being the first person I've seen on UA-cam to get a fire extinguisher out before you start working with a chance of spark or fire. Nice job!
    For everyone please else make sure you have a "charged" extinguisher handy.

      Bad things happen, you learn. lol I just have more experience (good and bad) than most. lol I already have my trophy, a burned headliner. Had I not had an extinguisher close by, I would have an entire car.

    terminal connector crimp tip. After you crimp the wire in the metal part of the connector ,move the crimp pliers away from the metal part and give the insulation part a squeeze enough to grab the insulation on the wire. This will help prevent the wire from separating from the metal part of the connector over time. Similar to using a clip to hold the cable to the solinoid. Unless you use heat shrinkable connectors

    • @vehcor
      @vehcor  5 років тому

      I usually use heat shrink connectors but they are not really necessary since the other end of the connector is wide open to the elements anyway.

    Was going to suggest putting some weather strip around the top of that battery box to keep the weather out, and keeping the rattle noise down. I have a 20 foot PJ car trailer that has a similar pump and control system. Pretty nicely built trailers!

    • @vehcor

    Excellent video. One thing I would l would like to point out there is no ground on those controller. The red is power to the switches, black is power to the motor solenoid, yellow or blue is power to the up/down solenoids. Good tips on the wire clamp and air removal. They probably loosened that hydro line to drop the body after the accident. Good job on the adjustments. Lol for the Snap On welder. Can't wait until next week.

    • @vehcor
      @vehcor  5 років тому

      I didn't really check, I just put them back where they went or I thought they went. I do like to be accurate in my statement so after reading your comment I decided to check in case I had to correct myself. The test light as well as the negative sign on the solenoid seem to agree that it is in fact a ground. lol I was thinking they may have loosened it and to lower it would be the only reason I could think of. I can't see it being wrecked in the up position. Someone had to loosen it, they could not have been using it like that.

    • @valtimontejr8071
      @valtimontejr8071 5 років тому

      Unless when it was hit it jolted the body up slightly or shifted the load causing the body to unseat from the frame. could also be non-damage just to get a new trailer. You are correct on the solenoid also. I checked my cousins dump trailer and learned something new. Most of the hydro pump motor solenoids are power to operate just like a snow plow. learned that one the hard way. kind of.

      I did, it worried me that a seal was blown out. Someone had to loosen it, possibly to lower the dump if it was up for some reason and the pump was not operational. Still a pleasant surprise to not have to spend money for what at first looks to be a big problem.

Personally I don’t let anyone work on anything of mine unless I absolutely have to. Even then I’m super critical of the work, which is why I do it myself. It is hard to find people that care more about the work than the money these days. I know what you mean, it hurts to watch people do something I could be doing if I had the tools or the time at the time I needed them. Thanks for the support!

    Too many 're-builders' just do the basics to get it out the door, but you went all over that trailer to fix everything, the chains, the safety cable, the bent door, the locking bar, even the loose line under it! (even the battery hold down, the 'loose' lid & the lock) Way to set yourself above the rest!

      Rebuilds are about saving money, sometimes you have to find alternatives to make it work. I have seen a few of these low quality weld jobs. I have had to fix them on a few of my rebuilds before I could sell them as well. Sometimes when I was working on a different part of the car. lol

    Those whom post criticism about a brand of tool you happen to have used presumably don't realize that an adequate tool in the hands of a craftsman or craftswoman is far better than a premium brand tool in the hands of someone incompetent, ignorant or lazy!

      Yes, they are douches. They got paid for the trailer and all the parts. It could have been the tow yard it was at too. Who knows? Since it only cost $25 to replace it new, a used one is not worth the time to steal.
