Compressor/Limiter settings for FM Radio

quick disclaimer ### These settings are very subjective and open to much debate. It's the settings I like and use, that's not to say they are what everyone would or should use###
Very quick tutorial on setting up a Compressor/Limiter for FM, or online radio. the compressor in video is the Behringer MDX 2200.

I have used an Alto CLE 2.0 Compressor/Limiter/Gate for 15 years. I now use it with home hifi. I too, like compression. I've always liked the sound of processed fm stereo.

I'm the same I love the warmth of compression. Compression done correctly, done wrong it sounds dreadful

Ciaran, Thanks for this I have found it invaluable. I'm a volunteer at Radio Saltire a Community radio station on the East Coast of Scotland. We have had one of these Compressors sitting in the corner doing nothing for ages.... Now up and running in 1 of our Studios..... mostly thanks to your wee video, so thanks.

@@C1CRN-u4e Thanks Ciaran. SO We have just installed a new Playout system and in migrating all the Music over and using the new system to normalise I've found that although normalised to the same RMS level that because production techniques have changed over the decades that to the listener then can sound quite different in volume. So wanted the compressor to help normalise that and today is the first time we have broadcast live with that and I'm happy with the overall balance. If anything the sound might be a bit thick but we are using Analogue mixers, they have a hiss and the compressor is getting rid of that but maybe also a bit of top end. However, a big improvement. But will let it settle down for a couple of days to see how it all works. Thanks again as I said invaluable.

I have one of these on my podcasts if you set the attack and release on the left you can press dual so the left and right are the same so you wouldn't have to set them both

I think, if you press the "couple" button, you can control both channels with CH1 knobs.
