    Hello, I have watched this video tour over and over again. She is stunning. I envy the people who have the honour of taking care of her, by living on her and loving her. The world of Narrowboats as a lifestyle is new to me. My family rented a small peniche in France and lived that experience. I am delighted to become a fan. Lucky lucky you to live on the canals.

    WOW. They pulled off a classic looking boat that looks classic and not well gaudy? Not a fan of the bright color boatman cabin look. I know it's period looking but these guys pulled off a beautiful classic looking theme. Very nicely done. Really like the offset engine room and the hallway.

    I don't know a thing about boats. With that said, does it matter that all the heavy things are on the port side of the boat? Does it make the boat lopsided or hard to handle? Thank you for your help.

    It’s easy to overuse the descriptor "stunning", but I must say that the word certainly applies to this boat. It may well be the most unique narrowboat I’ve seen presented here. It seems like the washer/dryer might be difficult to access, but hey - it’s got one, and that’s the main thing. The bottom line: this is a thoroughly beautiful boat, and I’m guessing it will sell quickly.
    One question that this boat reminded me of (if you have the time to address it): When the engine needs to be removed, for overhaul or replacement, how on earth is it done without tearing up the boat?
    Anyway, it’s a remarkably lovely boat, indeed.

    • @Crimsonedge1
      @Crimsonedge1 6 років тому +5

      Agreed. The furnishings and fittings are amazing. Despite all the naysayers these days who would disagree with me, you can't look at that style and say Britain has no history or culture of its own. Old country manor type. It really is beautiful.
      As for the engine, I'd imagine the only way is to strip it and take it out in pieces. Cylinder head cover, cylinder head, engine block, bottom end etc etc... Clean and fix and/or replace any parts and then reverse the entire process to get the engine back in. A good weekend worth of work at a steady pace with plenty of brews if you're not shy with a ratchet and wrench. Hell, if I was lucky enough to own it, I'd strip it down and rebuild it every month just for the pleasure of doing so. Those old engines, as simple as they are generally tend to be a lot more civilised to work on than their modern counterparts. Solid too.

    • @flat5sharp11
      @flat5sharp11 5 років тому +1

      Stunning indeed. I imagine all engine overhaul is done in situ. There's plenty of space around it, though not as much as the classic engine room layout (which has no separate corridor) For replacement it looks like the side hatch is large enough 0:20 to crane lift the engine out - with some dismantling.

    A gorgous narrow boat, I am excited about getting my first narrowboat, I am going to constantly cruise around the Bristol Bath canals or alternatively get a mooring, the thing is I want to get a narrowboat that is about 50ft long but I can only afford up to £15,000 or at the most 20K, hopefully my ideal narrowboat will find me !!!

    Being from the USA I am fascinated by these works of art. This is by far the finest example I’ve seen after years of touring these boats online.
    I have a question:
    Is it just me? Or does that boat SIT VERY LOW IN THE WATER. I see others with a few feet of boat off the water from the pilots station, the floor of the pilots station is only 8-10” off the water. Why??
    Thanks 🇺🇸

    • @sharonwebster454
      @sharonwebster454 5 років тому +1

      I agree, I thought the same in fact I thought it appeared lower at the back, Ok I don't know bow or stern but anyway I was thinking, Is that because of all the oak used in the parquet flooring, the built in furniture like the dressers the bed and the panelling throughout as well as the range in the galley and those purpose built brass radiators plus the rest of the beautiful characteristics have an effect on how low the boat sits? I was also thinking about the effect if any on the amount of fuel this would use compared to the more modern looking boats, this isn't the first one I've seen low in the water but I can't remember now how it was decorated inside to compare. Maybe somebody can help us? I will have a look for some answers also. X

    Love the woodwork, but the dark tone of it makes the interior too dim and claustrophobic. The paneling color of the walls and ceiling needs to be several shades lighter - a costly proposition if it’s to be done right.

    nice boat but i wouldn't be able to buy one in this style as i would be so scared of taking her out and go cruising all summer because of the gear changing mechanism's, also if i was to win the lottery i would design my own boat which would incorporate both stern & bow thruster for easy mooring whether in a marina or out on the cut
