  • In this video, i teardown a 66RFE out of a Ram 2500, This ran away in 4th gear and found the overdrive as well as the underdrive clutches no good. Remember to do a Quick Learn after doing the overhaul to reset the C.V.I of the clutch packs. Thanks for watching ,please Like ,subscribe and enjoy the video.

    Thanks for this video, easy to tell that Gary knows his craft. I have 2018 ram 3500 with this transmission, with P07029 and P0735 which are 5th and 6th gear speed mismatch. Dealership want to replace solenoid valve pack. I'm wondering if I skip that $2200 and am better off to go to a full transmission replacement.

    Hi, I have some slippage when I Gas the truck in 1st and second and it seems like truck doesn't go past 3rd gear, just stays in 3rd, I have code p0733, I have rebuilt transmission before but not this one and I'm trying to see what I need to look for when I take it apart? Bad torque converter, accumulators? Or plate? Pump, or just replace solenoid pack? What should I start with before removing trany and doing whole tear down?please advice

      65RFE is mor like a 545RFE while the 66RFE is more like a 68Rfe with one sided clutches

    Very informative, great video! What would cause a 66rfe to shudder at light throttle when shifting from 1st-2nd and 2nd-3rd? It recently had the solenoid pack replaced by the dealer and started doing it…. Also hard downshifts into 2nd and 1st when slowing down.

      @@GaryFerraro went into limp mode, so I only had 4th gear. Showed code P0750 which was “Shift Solenoid A”.

      @@troyd.521 That is an electrical code, have to address that first

      @@GaryFerraro that’s why the solenoid pack was replaced. An electrical issue with it and caused the code. The solenoid pack replacement fixed the issue of it being in limp mode, but now the other issues such as studder when shifting have popped up.

    I live in South Africa ha have a 6,5ton rv with a om352 mercedes engine and a 4 speed mercedes auto transmission. Would like to upgrade to an overdrive transmission like a nag1. What do you think? Thanks for al the great videos. Regards Hendrik

    There is 2 small blue orings that came from my transmission rebuild kit, from the valve body overhaul kit that I can not find where they go.. Can you assist thank you!

      they will be for the pressure sensor. It is a black electrical connector that goes on the driver side of transmission.

    On the interwebs, many dodge truck enthusiasts change the one sided clutches to the two sided clutches and steels. They usually do them all though, not just a few. Maybe some were good and they left them🤷‍♂️

      That is a mechanical code, for internal problem, what happens on 4 to 5 shift@@KingManga360

      Hey, I Remembered, The 68RFE and 2013 and up 66RFE are the same overhaul kit (clutches may be different but overhaul the same) @@debrisremoval3151

      Thats it, drop pan, filter and 6 bolts. Disconnect solenoid pack too

      @@wolfmanking100 , if your changing the solenoid pack, do not touch the detent roller, it is very hard to see if it's lined up

    should 2nd. clutches all fall on splines of reaction planet 1clutch band floates free

      No clutches should float free, need to be splined in

    Junk transmission, they want 7k to overhaul mine. 7k for another 150,000 miles isn't worth it.

      yup, my local transmission shop is 3+ weeks behind and he wants 8000 Canadian to rebuild my transmission. Looks like ima have to do it myself and I've never done a transmission before. I have a 66RFE
