And I fear this is just a starting point for an eventual mandatory fee-based revenue source for the US Government. Most cities require businesses to apply for a license and/or registration already to conduct business. Why don't they just use this information? Mind boggling.
Don't these companies file taxes? If Criminals can hide from taxes, what makes you think they won't lie about registration? Just another regulation for small business to become accountable to the Federal Government or incur fines.
It is possible that FinCEN has no legal access to tax documents. In the past the IRS has taken their confidentiality agreements with taxpayers seriously. Not sure if that is still the case.

Larger businesses have had this requirement under different rules for years. That being said, it seems their threshold for the large company exemption might have left out some businesses that fall in between.
Keep forcing new rules saying transparency but I noticed all types of financial institutions are exempt. why is that? I don't feel I need to register with you to prove that I am not a criminal. I hope someone bigger than me has the financial resources to fight this.
