I dont know if y’all realise this : but this is one of the most accurate drum covers for this song available out here on UA-cam. Note by Note.
Yeah,.. True.
@@Brattleborg yeah true, i give you that. But pretty consistent in comparison to other covers.
Huge fan of these guys, are their songs generally that complicated?
The Hi Hat part on the second part of the verse should be straight quarter notes, not Eighths. He nails the guitar solo part exceptionally well. Really a great cover.
@@ScaryMonster616 They have songs that are more complicated haha :p
I’ve been listening to this song for years, but every time I see someone execute that double bass pedal so flawlessly, it literally leaves me in pure awe. Well done man!
pppl
That is you whos leaves me in pure awe lol
@@nikoslepoulpe1392 Epic fail
This must've been a *nightmare* to afford
😂
EXACTLY WHAT I WAS THINKING BRO
True, but it has brought him critical acclaim!
3:48 I've always loved that kick drum pattern. Simple yet complex and still so beautifully designed to go so well with the rhythm guitar in the background but still allow the guitar solo to still shine. The Rev left behind this gem.
The Rev? Correct me if I'm wrong, but the Rev passed away before this album, no? Wasn't the drums by Mike Portnoy?
@@jiggy300608 Yes it was Mike Portnoy on the album. But from what I know he still based his part from old demos of the songs with the Rev playing them. I may be wrong
I try playing like that. very difficult for me hehehe
@@somefuckindumbass6547 He did, if you listen to The Nightmare demo it's pretty close to the finished song. Portnoy just fleshed it out
ive done, its whatever man :smh:
Dude setting up that set has to be a nightmare in of itself
Lol that's an understement

that comment is perfect
Lol
My 3 year old is obsessed with your videos... so much to the point that I went and bought a drum set for him today. You’ve inspired a very very young man.
Finally a toddler Who doesnt fall for Ryans toy reviews shit and does worth a while like listening to real music!
Popped up in my UA-cam algorithm and I'm happy it did
Man, every aspect of this takes so much dedication. From the drum accuracies to the mic placement, editing, money to accumulate all the cameras, cords, mikes, and to get it on a DAW then send it out. Its perfection at it greatest. Props to you friend. I enjoyed this video more than you know
You know it’s gonna be good when you see a full kit. There’s a few pretenders on UA-cam that think they’re good with just a snare and a kick. This right here is the business.
How fast his brain works in playing. Even though its sheer practice, it's a commendable effort and he is extremely talented
This had to be the most perfect cover I've ever seen. Note for note. You FC'd this thing. Earned a sub
Thanks a ton BluRzZ __!
Absolutely flawless
Brooks is proud for sure! This music is crazy hard to play without getting excited and RUSHING! You are totally awesome, I'm sure you've come across Murray Spivack who teaches to relax while playing.
dream theater done by him, so just a7x is easy for him,
how can you tell? hes got the actual song blasting so loud you cant even hear his shit.
Whenever I watch something like this, it just blows my mind how the original artist ever came up with it! Excellent cover, by the way 😁
This, Tarn Softwhip, and maytalll have one of the greatest drum covers of Nightmare by Avenged Sevenfold. Congrats to all three of you.
Your description said “forgive the mistakes” bro, what mistakes?! Lol
@6:17
@@jamesnewdick7847 you win comment of the year
The mistake is you only can hit the like button once.
Ikr?! lol
5:27 weak transition of the cymbal part, but it's forgiven :D
Was curious how the footwork at 3:34 would go and he nailed it! Wow
Yeah, that part turned me gay.
@@ryskbotvladimirivanovic1767 r/suddenlygay
My favorite part is that segment, he nailed the entire song
Same. His legs must have been shot after this lol…
Mans gots machine gun legs
I love when my recommended videos shows me something like this. Nice work, sounds incredible.
The rev would be proud ❤
Mike Portnoy added the flair for all of this.
The bass drum comes through so clear in my headphones and I absolutely love every second of it.
After all these years, such a clean version exists. Love your playing as always.
Man, that's solid as hell.
I'm a bit envious of your drum kit and overall setup as well. Awesome video.
This is literally phenomenal, this blows me away. I play drums myself but it's nothing compared to this cover. Well done!!!!
I know the feeling. People like this are INSPIRING. I think to myself, if I put my ass in that chair for ten years I might possibly be as good as this guy one day!
These are some of the best covers I've ever watched 🤘
I’d love to see you do Save Me from this album
Same! Save me is the best!

This drum cover is by far the best out there.. it takes no. 1 spot imo.. the perfection in every beat and note.. sir you nailed it and I think u.deserve go reach the top.. all the best..
Hey, Alexander Paiva., don't get shaken by those 1.5K jealous haters, they're totally WAY OFFBASE. I'm sure of that because I've recorded Mike Portnoy before, at least three times, with John Petrucci, and Jordan Rudess by himself twice. Your footwork was exemplary, and this cover was outstanding. 'Nightmare' itself is a much more difficult heavy rock selection to perform than many people realize. Prior to running FOH live sound at major venues, recording, and eventually becoming an Audio Mastering Engineer, I was a double technology Masters graduate from MIT and accomplished keyboardist that hung around with many musicians from Berkley in the Boston area. When I got tired of the 'think tank' jobs in my late 20's, I joined a touring rock band on the road with an exclusive booking agent out of Chicago. THAT agency would have hired you in a heartbeat for a tribute band, or any traveling progressive rock group. Your chops appear to be outstanding, and taking the time to learn such an intense tune such as THIS one says a LOT about the determination and drive of an individual. I'm retired now, but I sure as hell can still recognize and separate bullshit from real talent. I believe YOU'RE the real deal kid. Best of luck in whatever you decide to pursue for a career. FalconEddy
I really appreciate that FalconEddy! Thank you very much!
I agree with every word, Alexander is a really great drummer i think he can play everything perfectly anybody badmouthing him can fuck off to the moon!
You are grate Alexander so keep up the great work you rock man!!!
@@APT0491 Oh, by the way, guess what brand mics I used on stage and in the studio??? Same as you've got on your kit! They were outstanding. Micing Scott Rockenfield's kit from Queensrÿche with them at The Pavillion outside of Boston came out incredible, although he had reservations since he'd never had them on the kit before. He was VERY happy with the results. Loved those mics!!!
And in 99% of Alexander’s covers - I don’t see many differences from the original drum sounds. It sounds way better in some covers! Especially in this one.
Wow. You seem to have shared a background similar to Tom Scholz in terms of MIT and being an engineer/musician from the Boston area. Do you know him personally?
That was absolutely incredible. Totally awesome 😮
That’s amazing his whole body is synchronized with the different movements. Not skipping any beats.
Man that double bass hitting made my calves hurt, good job
xherdan shaqiri could do that with ease
True 😂
Pretty easy song as far as double kick goes. But damn they sound good on this drum kit!
if you want double bass check out dan presland (he recently made a video doing 215 for a minute long, in 16ths of course)
His timing is definitely on point he played that very well I'm surprised anyone put a thumbs down! thumbs up at 3:00 min for me
Jealous people. Only jealous people dislike.
Cover limpinho, execução impecável, sem exibicionismos! Estás completamente de parabéns! Dá gosto ver um vídeo assim!
thats amazing! ive been playing that song forever and i love it. You did the song so much justice, i cannot play it nearly that spectacularly
So nobody is gonna acknowledge how muscular this dudes calf's are?...1:55
He has trees for legs
came to the comments to see if anybody else said something
bro has abs on his calfs
That's how my calves got from drumming
He is Thai Boxer.
probably one of my favourite sounding setups I've heard, well balanced and crisp, NOICE, VERY NOICE!
7.6 million well deserved views. You nailed that cover so well that it left a wet spot.
10m views now and I need a towel.
this guys kit is insane love the cover absolutely perfect im a drummer as well and when i see people play that double bass bass pedal that fast I'm just in awe
The most accurate version I have heard of this song and I don’t play any instruments but I can tell from ear, a7x are my favourite band in this whole entire world. Well done
same dude same
Wow! Nice job man! This is by far one of the most accurate covers I've ever seen of this song. Fantastic job! Keep it up!!
Alex Paiva is the textbook definition of absolute unit. This man is insane.
Nice to see people enjoying drumming to hard rock music. Glad to see the genre is here to stay
spoiler alert: his feet are the explicit part. crazy on beat.
ua-cam.com/video/Am9k8xUgNeg/v-deo.html
Damn you nailed that and your set sounds so clean and beefy! That solo part is the epic.
This is the kind of guys the neighbors call the police when he is not playing
1st time watching this drum solo on my custom car stereo. Dude you are so on your game! Great breath taking performance!!!!
i dont understand why people hate avenged sevenfold. its good to see someone do a cover on one of their songs
The reason the drums are so different on this is because it was mike Portnoy who filled in after the rev died. Rip.
The Rev and Mike Portnoy is very proud of you.
Amazing cover!
It’s the soundtrack. So happy to see him live the music. Starts at the heart and out the arms to the hand to our ears. Equals Happiness
I am 4 years late but I was listening to this video in the background while working (it randomly came up after listening to Avenged Sevenfold on Autoplay) and I really thought this was the original song. So good man!
Dude, I love your drumming so much I watch your videos to learn these songs. Keep it up
Maaan, you, Matt Grubs and Josh Steffen are the drummer I enjoy the most on UA-cam!
SebaTheRed No Samus66 in there??? You’ve gotta have Samus66 in there man.
Charles Wagner oh yeah samus is in there too, but these were my top three :)
This is phenomenal drumming and sound!!! You keep taking it to a next level!!!! Thank you for your continued hard work🤟🤟🤟🤟🤟🤟🤟🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🥁🥁🥁🥁🥁🥁🥁
AWW YEAAAHH!! THIS is a cover. No inventions, no unecessary pedals or attacks, just the damn song as much equal as it can be!
NICE!

The camera shake when he goes in on the bass drum is so badass
I love these drum covers I just can’t stop watching them
I had to say that when I need inspiration in my day, I came to watch your cover. It's so damm amazing
Wow, this is just amazing brother!!!! Love your kit!!!!😊❤
How you play a hi-hit so far from the snare is beyond me dude.
that explains his wrong posture..
@@marcuse.9522 could you post a cover of this song showing what the correct posture would be?
Depends on the drummer. Maybe he's more comfortable in his own set up
- How many cymbals have you got?
- Yyyyy... Yes.
Congratulations dude, that's an awsome drum cover! it's not easy to play it and you did it very well!! Long live rock n' roll! \m/
Yo! That was a seriously good cover man. Double bass pedal work was flawless and beautiful accents on the ride cymbals
Subbed.
One of my go-to playalongs. Always gets me pumped
this guy has more cymbals on his drum set than life in my body
Oscar Salvatierra it’s a joke
The quality level is sick on this set, and he makes is sound worth the money!

Amazing cover man. You nailed it so precisely. Hard work and practice pays off, good work my friend.
Dude, that was awesome. Great job~! Watched the entire performance. Loved it.
This is an AMAZING drum cover. The best I’ve ever seen of this song. Hope you make a video of Save Me
Amazing, been waiting for this for a bit, rock on man!
Best cover I have ever seen by far, GREAT WORK BRO!
As a guitar player this is the one song that makes me want to master the drums, Portnoy is amazing.
Jimmy stoll wrote all the drums for this portnoy is just the one who recorded it
Still amazing he recorded it
@@matthewbartlett3442 yea fr, jimmy is a beast, but if you can play his songs on drums perfect then your also a beast
Beautiful double bassing at ~3:56. Thanks for letting me see how Portnoy did this drum track from close up!!
My dude over here has those calves of steel bro! great cover, absolutely love this song and you did amazing on it!
i'm sure the Rev is smiling down on you since you absolutely killed it.
Nice cover, most people miss certain notes and patterns but that well played. Great job dude!
this dude rocks
Awesome job. So relaxed and fluid. I completely see the ergonomic advantage Danny Carey speaks of in his Vic Firth profile regarding the remote hi hat being in the center of his large kit. If you got one and moved yours to the center, you’d eliminate that long crossover reach, bring in the left components, and ultimately increase the force behind your left hand snare attack. Relocating the existing center splash wouldn’t be hard.
Muito bom cara, e a bateria é linda meu velho, parabéns.
One of the best A7X covers I’ve seen. Great work!!
Everytime i hear this song, just thinking how the double pedal works, and you did it well good job!
First time I've seen you & I've got to say..."AWESOME! PERFECTION! ASTOUNDING! FRIGGIN' FURIOUSLY PLAYED!" Dude, you seriously ROCK!
That kit sounds dope. Good job man. I had a set of paiste signatures too. Best soubding cymbals Ive ever played.
That kit is worth more than my house lol.
Damn good job! Much respect, I know how much time and effort goes into this!
Fr bro this is the best drum cover of this song ive seen
The amount of practice that went into perfecting this is truly amazing. Fuckin kudos man
that sound quality is golden, these drum sound amazing on mix.
So clean bro! Congrats! 👏🏻💪🏻
Your drumming is just mind blowing 😊😊 you played note to note I was lost in your drumming keep it up its just awesome 😊😊😊👍👍
Such talent! I wish I had a fraction of your skills!
This literally put a smile on my face.
I usually only watch up until half way most videos but dude i couldnt stop watching this 👌👌👌🤙🏾🤙🏾🤙🏾
Hail to the king of drums 🙌🏻

I’m not even commenting on the drumming, the equipment setup in the room is live concert worthy.
That’s like 100 thousand dollars XD
