Remember the old… “bricks in a box” scam that was going on years ago during the ps4 launch? How about the guy buying a Xbox One and getting a paper picture of it instead lol. eBay can be a scammers paradise but Facebook marketplace is FAR worse.
I’ve not had any issues on Fb marketplace. Look at the seller’s feedback and reviews. Don’t buy from people with no reviews or multiple 1 stars. It’s pretty simple.
My favorite , and probably the most widespread one was the people who would list the console box shortly after the consoles were released . They would make the title appear to be for the whole console , but at the bottom of the page there would be a very brief mention that it would just include the empty box . They would list item for a few bucks less than retail and people would be so desperately trying to get one , they wouldn't scroll down to read everything and would just immediately hit the BIN button .
Jus scrolling through, this jus made me think of the PS5 pictures that were set up to catch out the bulk buyers and it worked! And I wouldn't mind, but it was clearly marked as a "picture of a PS5" but their bots still picked it up! Karma!
I know you can afford buying a "new" PS4 off eBay and you get content out of it, but even if you're not getting your money back on a return from the seller I hope you're at least leaving negative feedback with proof of what they sent you when they claim "new". People like that need to have consequences. They need to not be on eBay at all.
@@MythicalAngler "Only problem"??? It's *THE ENTIRE* thing. It was listed as "New" and clearly was not. That is the *ONLY* thing that matters in this situation. Not that it "technically came with what it needed".

Why don't you quit buying from people that have terrible feedback and use generic photos? I sell on eBay, and I take multiple pics of everything I sell. I have had buyers tell me that they preferred my listing over others selling the same item because of all my pics.
bought a snes off the bay. got sent in those bags that usually are meant for shipping a t-shirt. no bubble padding..nothing. it literally was dripping pieces slumped over in the mailbox. seller made me jump through hoops just to get a refund. no longer do i take those risks of buying from sellers with sketchy to no feedback, and or no experience in shipping electronic item's etc..
An Amazon seller charged me $20 to ship an anime figurine, and they put it in a bag like that. The box, which is part of the collectible, was utterly destroyed. Fortunately the hard plastic inner shell protected the figurine itself. Speaking of Amazon, if the order is shipped by Amazon itself, have it delivered to the nearest Whole Foods. Don't let the postal service get their hands on it.
That Pro is probably 5 years old right? That box is not “sealed” in the literal sense that there’s no gaps for anything to get it. So it’s very possible that in 5 years of sitting on a shelf that a bug crawled in there lol
Oh, yeah. I've bought legit "brand new" consoles off ebay before that had clearly been kept in the garage for 10+ years. Definitely never opened before, but definitely infiltrated by bugs and/or moisture. That PS4 Pro is basically mint by comparison.
Maybe these videos are for entertainment purposes only? and what you see in the videos may, or may not actually be true? Maybe it was all just set-up... just saying
I had a similar issue on eBay where I bought brand new ps5 paid for it , but the seller was doing a scam and putting it back up on auction scam more people out of money. At least I was able to get a refund back. They were never going to send the item they were gonna keep doing the scam.
One Ebay problem is you can't report a seller for fake photos unless you log in. They are supposed to have actual pictures of the item. Which also means they can't be drop shipping.
From selling experience on eBay ALL new eBay members or those who have little selling history will have funds held by eBay until the item is delivered and in some cases positive feedback received as well. This is the case here in the UK especially where I have sold used/spares & repairs mobile phones and eBay had held funds until delivered
I’ve had this issue with Japanese eBay listings when buying consoles. So many of them say new when they’re not, even tho they do price it at the average new price. They also steal and use each others photos which makes it hard to tell what you’re gonna actually be getting.
90% of the time the Japanese sellers don't actually have the item you bought, they take your payment then scrounge their local market for the cheapest variant of what you bought
People's definition of "Brand new" is weird. Most electronics have some sort of seal on box flaps that open, to allow you to take the product out. The moment you break a seal, it's no longer brand new. Even if you never take the item out of the packaging/box. That's specifically why "Open box" and "Like new" categories exist.
Bought a Super Nintendo off eBay once. When it come in I opened the box and inside was one little piece of plastic and a broken SNES. Told the seller it was broken and he replied back with impossible I put in packaging. I told him one ziplock bag inflated isn’t nearly enough. Took a bit to get refunded for it. Some morons think bubble wrap is not important.
Stuff like this is why I go to CEX and TMI for all my gaming needs, or one of the many side shops we have in Leeds when they're not helpful... A friend of mine bought an Xbox series X and the seller tried saying "if you have any problems, please return console to me"... while it was still under manufacture's warranty. ... I sent it to Microsoft and they repaired it.
I like your content, just an idea though if you could make a video showing how you go about opening a case with eBay and getting a refund from these scammers when they don’t reply would really be super informative and helpful too
Don't update that 1st Slim. It appears to be on Software version 11.0, which is the last current version that can be jailbroken. You might be able to resell it as a low firmware PS4

The first PS4 was on firmware 11.0, the seller didn’t know and sold you a hackable system, of which will probably update when the seller boots it up again as you let it download 11.52 in the background.

I usually buy broken or for parts items on ebay mostly. Or random car parts like tail light and headlight housings, grills, window motors stuff like that i usually find ebay to have the best price. I had a voice recorder that I'd used about 5 times from new and didn't need it any more, I put it on Ebay but before doing so I put some new batteries in it and checked everything was working. Then marked it discreetly and even photographed the serial number. It sold so I packaged it up and sent it on it's way, couple of days went by and I got a returns request for that item, description stating it doesn't work it's dead. They sent a couple of pictures and after asking them to put fresh batteries in rather than different mixed types that they put in it, they still stated it didn't work, since I'd listed it as working pre-owned I had to pay return postage so I contacted the buyer, stating once the item has been returned and inspected and if in the unlikely situation it's suddenly defective, I will refund them. They cancelled the returns request ... hmmm wonder why!
Bc you atleast aim for 99% or 100. There is no guaranty that a seller will stay and if that person leaves you can never contact that person again. Its full trust or no trust.
Yeah 99 is even sus. 99.9 99.8 maybe a few bad reviews, bit you can look at the negative comments and their dates and figure out pretty quick if legit. I havnt sold in years and have a 99.8 or 99.9 with almost 1000 feedback, granted some were purchases.
I agree. Ebay needs to ban generic photos. It also amazes me how many sellers don't follow the proper listing listing criteria. The best thing, though, is Ebays buyer protection.
eBay's buyer protection is a joke if the package was sent but delivered to a different address in a different town. they basically told me since it was delivered (though they acknowledged it wasn't to the right address) it is my problem, and that I should install cameras. had to go through my credit card company to get my money back. Oh, and UPS paid the seller for losing the package. eBay is total garbage compared to what it used to be.
I buy from eBay all the time have had nothing but great experiences with them. Never buy from people with stock store pictures for every item. Buy only from people with actual pictures of the products you buy and good ratings/reviews and you usually don’t have problems outside of shipping issues which are usually out of the sellers control unless it was their clear negligence when packaging the item. 🤷♂️
I dunno why but I noticed this alot from ebay lately, and as a seller myself. I believe ebay updated what can be sold as used and new, and seems alot of categories do not allow you to list it used items. Brand new only option. I'm not saying they should list it as that as its wrong. But sellers need spend a extra 5 minutes and list it in a section that allows used or ebay need to soften the criteria and bring back used section for certain categories.
*proceeds to buy products from eBay with piss poor feedback/or none* *receives pourly packed item and isn't what was listed* *insert "Who Killed Hannibal" meme* Jacob: Why would they do this?
I got a strange ebay story that happened last week, possibly was trying to scam me. I ordered a n64 game and it shipped to Flordia but I live in Minnesota. When i asked the seller what was going on he manually changed the address saying I asked him to change it. He then said he realized the message to change the address didnt come from me but from someone else and he was confused on how they knew to message him about the product and change the address at the same time he was printing the label. I got my money back but he assures me he had no idea I wasn't the one who messaged him and he escalated the issue to ebay.
I don't buy from eBay sellers who use stock photos. I want to see what I am buying. I mostly buy video games and I want to see the disc. I want to see how scratched the disc is. A lot of eBay sellers don't show the shiny side of the disc. I believe because the disc is scratched so they are hiding the condition of the disc sooo, I keep going through the listings until I decide to just buy a new copy of the game if I can't find a good used copy with barely any scratches. I don't understand how everybody scratches up their discs. None of my discs are scratched and I have been playing using discs since the Wii and the PS1. No scratches on my discs so, I don't understand how people are treating their discs.
To be fair. The seller has 4 days to ship an item not quite sure how long you waited but. Basically they have a notification at the app all the time to ship the item
I know we had this conversation about words and their meanings before with DkOldies and the whole use of the term "refurbished", but i dont think there is any room to argue that something isnt new if it already has saved data on it lol. Had he factory reseted the console ( which anyone should do if they plan to sell their stuff for data security ( unless it's a PT type of situation i guess)) then i would consider room to debate the use of the term " new" lol.
"Amazon Refurbished" and "Ebay Refurbished" mean exactly squat. Those items are sold by third party sellers, and neither Amazon nor Ebay does quality control on them. They may provide the sellers with guidelines, but the sellers ignore them.
Back in July i bought a wii u listed as working, but when i got it it overheated. Seller was very responsive tried to help with the problem and sent me another that worked.

How’s an 93.3 Positive Feedback not good?
Bc you atleast aim for 99% or 100. There is no guaranty that a seller will stay and if that person leaves you can never contact that person again. Its full trust or no trust.
Yeah 99 is even sus. 99.9 99.8 maybe a few bad reviews, bit you can look at the negative comments and their dates and figure out pretty quick if legit. I havnt sold in years and have a 99.8 or 99.9 with almost 1000 feedback, granted some were purchases.
You should do a video where you buy the same console from every version of star levels from ebay. Like 0-5 and compare.
why tf would u actually trust a seller using photos pulled straight from google
As an eBay seller those boxes are huge and the amount of postage you need to pay is insane that I will construct a new box just once 12 dollars.
Oh, and UPS paid the seller for losing the package. eBay is total garbage compared to what it used to be.
eBay in many cases will provide stock photos when you create the listing.
@ZachAttackIsBack okay. If that's the case then sellers should be taking their own pictures.
Never buy from people on ebay who have a terrible review especially when they have a rating below 100%
I never buy anything on eBay for over £20, so it doesn't really matter to me if I get it or not. But it is hit or miss.
Stock photos are a violation of eBay policy. Taking a screenshot of a stock photo, cropping it and putting it on eBay is perfectly fine. 😂
Who would pay almost $500 for a PS4 Pro when a brand new ps5 is like the same price
*proceeds to buy products from eBay with piss poor feedback/or none*
*receives pourly packed item and isn't what was listed*
*insert "Who Killed Hannibal" meme*
Jacob: Why would they do this?
Check if a credit card is stored on the PS Store page😂
Perhaps it was opened so it could be photographed, then resealed? Just a thought!
He'd be lost without that phone eh 😂
glad i take care of both my ps4 and ps5...i would prob get screwed by ebay scammers lol
The guy probably left for work and his girlfriend probably sold it on him
I got a strange ebay story that happened last week, possibly was trying to scam me.
About the bug, did you not notice the flap open, they don't need a lot of room to get in.
Dude, bugs can literally get in ANYWHERE.
How the hell is a ps4 pro still worth $500+ when the ps5 is the same price? I dont get it.
Does your store ship worldwide?

Brand new. Taken out of box never used. Selling due to new kid and no time to play video games anymore.
The seller might have done a reset that dosent delete any data that’s probably why
For that last console you opened, you mentioned scams, conspiracy theories, but got a brand new, unopened console... what was the scam there?
You should ask the seller for pics of the actual item or atleast ask them if it's sealed in box or not.
To be fair. The seller has 4 days to ship an item not quite sure how long you waited but. Basically they have a notification at the app all the time to ship the item
The main question is: why are you buying consoles from sellers with shady sales and no feedback?
So that we don’t have to lol
Isnt there an anti scam policy on Ebay?
Ebay also allows fake gba pokemon games and similar games to be sold. And they won't take them down and I can't figure out why.
My ps4 pro came with the neat stickers
Dude scored gold with that ps4 pro
That seller of the new ps4 in box is like I got him
Back in July i bought a wii u listed as working, but when i got it it overheated. Seller was very responsive tried to help with the problem and sent me another that worked.
wowie jacob! dont have some kind of yardsaledale situation on your hands!
As far as the bug in the box..... Those bastards can get just about anywhere.
Ps4 with old firmware are sort after - hope you never updated and you could have resold it no probs.
I had a ebay scammer buy 30 something sealed switch game in a lot I had bought all the games from wallmart or Amazon ,Target over years and decided to sell as a sealed lot when he got the games he opened each game and said all.the games where missing and accused me of re sealing them and scamming him I sold on Ebay for 6 years never a issue he complained to Ebay and they sided with him and screwed me for 1600$ I never sold on Ebay again
I sold exactly two items on Ebay, and got scammed on the second sale. Ebay closed the case without resolving it. I never sold on Ebay again. Apparently you have to sell in volume and be willing to take a few Ls for Ebay to be a reliable revenue stream.
YOU KNOW WHAT ELSE IS MASSIVE???? LOWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWW TAPER FADE
Jacob R= stay away from gamestop used and refurbished consoles they're garbage.....next video...Jacob R= I just bought 10 used/refurbished consoles from gamestop, let's unbox it and see what we got(😂😂)
Are these PS4's yardsaledale certified bangers?
i hope so
was the suit about yardsaledale?
somehow got a legit sealed unused PS4 Pro for a steal
my father is having the opposite side of the same experience he is very careful in his item descriptions to make sure they are accurate and has had so many people buying things and then trying to bullshit about the condition of the item in one case he sold someone a psvita and luckily for him kept extensive photo evidence of its condition and even a video of it booting and working because the arsehole who bought tried coming back saying it had this damage that damage and wasnt even working , he was trying to passoff his broken machine for a refund , like buy a working machine then try and say the broken one he had was the one from ebay .... scumbag
you could jailbreak that ps4 pro with it being on 5.55
I buy from eBay quite a bit. Everything from games to consoles and I've had very little problems... The biggest problem I've had lately is fighting some Japanese Seller's to give me a tracking number... But other than that, it's been all good.👍
I got scammed on Ali express.. phones if its too good to be true it is.
I paid $150 for a newer version pro with 8 physical games. After tax and shipping it was about 180. It came with 2 controllers. A Slim should be about 100 or lower.
No they sell it for around 199 on playstation the one you bought had a mechanical issue
@@Ghostsofpast837 No issues at all. It played everything like it's new. I did open it up to clean the dusts off though. Not that much. The Newer Pro versions run a lot quieter than the others.
Hey what happened to Yard sale Dale 😭
