He shut down his feeling for Beer because what happened with their other friend. The fact is their group means the most for Wan and even if he liked Tan, he never wanted things changes. And then he tried to show his feeling and everything changes. He blames himself for 3 years because of that. And now, even if he clearly like Beer, and all the misunderstanding with Tan was solved, the fear is still here. I can't blame him honestly
But I can understand Wan... he's hurting because Tan left and all this while he's been blaming himself for Tan's disappearance just because in a spur of the moment, he tried to kiss him. Confess that he might love him more than a friend. So now he's scared that beer might leave too or worse if they never pull that rltnship stuff then he might loose beer even as a friend let alone bieng an ex....his comfort zone is he'd rather have em all as friends then, than loose any just because of his feelings I have been in a similar situation and trust me, it's not a cup of coffee you'd prefer. If you choose you afraid it might not work and you'll end up losing your best friend but if you don't choose you still lose them anyway coz he might back off and even back track the best friend part because it'll be hard to be best friends with still those feelings. So if you choose it better work out.
