- I decided to spend 100 hours in Pokémon Scarlet doing nothing but Shiny Hunting! This is such a ridiculous project and undertaking and took a total of 11 streams averaging 9 hours each. Hopefully all the work was worth it and you guys enjoy the video!
Clarifications: Getting the Shiny Charm was not included in the time, Herba Mystica and other items were grinded prior to the challenge and not included in the time. This is because I wanted to focus on the shiny hunts themselves and not optimal raid grinding or Pokedex Completion. Finally, since people keep asking, the Beast Balls were gotten from the dupe glitch before it was patched.
Shoutout to all the incredible channels like @AustinJohnPlays @n9kai @BLAINES @Osirus and @sukurutogames for making great shiny hunting content that I referenced for this challenge.

I like the idea that Fir ended up like a shiny version of Ash Ketchum, where there's a bunch of different shinies in his box and then there's like 30 tauros randomly.
Except Fir still managed to catch more shiny pokemon in 100 hours than Ash did normal ones over 25 years. I think Ash's final count was around 80 pokemon which ain't great on the "gotta catch em all" scale.
@@lunarazure9969 To be fair, that catchphrase kinda fell to the wayside around halfway through the series when Satoshi/Ash started focusing on a singular team at a time instead of swapping around (though I still think he was at his best when he would mix and match old and new pokémon).

Sudowoodo with red "leaves" actually fits so well with the autumn area. Definitely not one of the worse shines.

I caught a full odds shiny Sudowoodo in the autumn area, and also PokéMen7 caught the same shiny in the same area.
I am convinced that Sudowoodo's shiny odds are higher in the Autumn area.

I absolutely love shiny hunting in this game, compare to the others in the franchise. It’s a lot easier, but rewards the keen eye for a lot of similar looking ones. My current favorite I have is Dondozo.

PLA is probably best, yeah, mostly because you *work* to get those increased odds.
Perfecting the pokedex entry being tied to shiny odds just makes sense from a gameplay perspective.

agreed! i was there for a good 30-40 hours of the hunts and they were so fun
I do feel bad that there's not a lot of fun activities for Post Game(comp battling and janky raids aren't my thing), but with how much easier they made shiny hunting, I guess that's considered "post game" now. And it's actually pretty addicting and fun. Never in my life did I think I would casually want to hunt a shinies till Arceus and ScVi(and this is considering I played and loved every gen before it)!!!

I watched the first few streams on twitch, but i missed a few streams so i decided I would just watch the video for the last bit of the 100 hours, and it was worth the wait. good luck to everyone trying to get one of the dupes!
It's hard to believe how simple shiny hunting has gotten. Back in my day, we only really had the Masuda method. Now, one can easily just stack multiple effects to not only raise your chances of finding a shiny Pokemon, but finding the shiny Pokemon of your choosing en masse!
I think it has to be something between old shiny hunting and this. Old shiny hunting is way to tedious and new way to easy .
@@nabuko434honestly, I think sword/shield is the perfect balance. Multiple methods for convenience but still reasonable odds

For the charcadet afk method, it helps in you use your in game camera to look for the blue eyes. If you set it to fish eye mode, the middle will zoom a little bit more. Made it super easy and I got one in 15 mins.
Is the fish eye mode under the camera or the zoom settings?
@@ZeroFate643 I don’t have my switch on me rn to check, but I’m pretty sure you just press right on the d pad one time while in the camera. The zoom is pretty small tho.
This game is the luckiest I’ve ever been for shinies. Not only did I find my first mainline shiny ever, I found THREE other full-odds shinies playing through the game. Puddlejump the Rockruff was on my main team.
I saw Whelkan the Cetoddle in a shadowy place so I had to look REALLY closely for his orange accents. I passed a Raichu in Area Zero that looked a little TOO orange and thought “Wouldn’t it be funny if it were shiny?” (She was. Her name is Sammy) Lastly, I found a Glimmora also in area zero. I felt SO lucky.
literally same for me. My first was a random outbreak I walked by for gyrados (named her red lobster)
The second was a Gargancl I found in area zero (cinnamon)
And lastly a white toedscool running into me (squidward)
Yeah it gets easier and easier to find shinies with each game. Unfortunately I, who have been playing for over 10 years, still haven’t found any shinies, except in Y where I caught some via the fishing method.
Hoping Violet will give me enough luck so that I don’t even need the shiny charm before getting my first shiny, so many people are finding shinies during their playthroughs it can’t be that hard right 😭 I just need to beat Nemona, Cassiopeia and Arven then I can go to Area Zero and finally be in post game. Kind of hoping to find a shiny before post game but my sister didn’t so I probably won’t either lol.
HOW???? Sword: supposed 1/100 adventures odds. Nothing
Sandwiches: absolute pain to gather herbs which I’m already exhausted from gathering and default to ultra moon for the rest of the day, only to have to reset several times to get maybe one shiny I’m not looking for(and this is a good day 😂 and yes, I got the charm) so it’s safe to say I’ll be exclusively sticking to the absolute amazing gen 7 methods until bank is shut down
@@poppyseed799 When you get to Area Zero(if you haven't already) make sure you got a Damp ability pokemon or at least have the mind to save whenever you see a shiny in SV. Me and seemingly many others got our first full-odd shiny in the game to be Garganacl, and that big guy learns Explosion at level 60.
i recommend picking up Arceus, its even better and for your own peace of mind theres even a noise. (and yes its mainline)

Same. Was looking for *one* in SP while using both eggs *and* hunting in the mansion with the radar. Got zero after hours of hunting.

I've hunted fluttermane a few times and doing it during the day doesnt seem to increase the odds. It is easier to see though but you're not missing out much.

So the interesting thing is "100 days" videos usually go off of 100 in game days, so 100 days in Pokemon Scarlet would actually only be 120 hours since the in game days are 72 minutes.

I think shiny hunting in SV is great because if you put in effort and resources you get results
Shinies in mainline games is something that, prior to SV, had only happened ONCE before. Most of my shinies were relegated to Go. In SV, I've been finding shinies at a rampant rate, getting 3 within my casual playthrough.

i caught over 15 shiny rockruffs trying to get own tempo to find out there's a place lycanroc with encounter power 2+ 😭😭it took me two resets like you did for dusk lycanroc

I have a weird story about Tatsugiri, I decided to just try my luck with a water sandwich and roam the lake in search of a Dondozo, 6 minutes later I caught a shiny Tatsugiri (curly), 13 minutes in and I got another Tatsugiri (droopy), 15 minutes and I got the last one (Stretchy)
34 minutes passed* and I pretty much gave up on finding a Dondozo, then another shiny Tatsugiri (droopy) spawned and used memento immediately, I didn't care much since I already had one so I just let it happen, there's 26 seconds left on the clock and while I was still on the notification screen a shiny Dondozo emerged from the water, I got the whole squad within 30 minutes on my 1st sandwich, I ran out of luck for the rest of my life
*The lag made the sandwich last a little over 35 minutes
I think some clarification are needed when you said only red Basculin outbreaks can happen: Blue Basculin outbreaks exist (I had one today actually) but they all spawn in "non-area", these are water Pokemon that ends up with outbreak inside a wall, a beach, or a field area, so the game doesn't even bother spawning them
Blue-stripe Basculin outbreaks can spawn Basculin, but they still only ever spawn red-stripe ones. There are also some outbreaks that aren't in good locations, and you just happened to get both in one, but not all are like that. The same goes for any pokemon which has a different box sprite (Oinkalogne, which only spawns male, is the only example I can think of not mentioned in the video though).
Honestly I love how Rockruff and it's evaluations are Classic Sonic, Modern Sonic, and Werehog Sonic

While trying to find a 0 Speed IV Pawniard, I found a shiny Kriketune and a shiny Kriketot within 5 minutes of each other, no modifiers.
Comedy comes in threes and apparently also many of unwanted shinies.

I had so much luck with the masuda method in this game.
Tried to get all 3 shiny starters and got Quaxly after 82 eggs, Sprigatito 5 eggs after Quaxly, Fuecoco after 98 eggs and a second shiny Fuecoco after 50 from the rest of the eggs.
AND THAT WITHOUT THE SHINY CHARM!
At this point, fir just go for the shiny living dex.

My shiny luck in this game involves, creating a sandwich, searching for 25 minutes, finding the shiny, and that's it, I have only encountered 2 random shinies, being a Mareep and a Pawmi, and I really want more
