I hope everyone reading these comments, realize how hard of a decision it was to sell that bike!! But I knew that Kaplan cycles would finish it proper!! Way to go guys, nice work!! I can only hope that whoever buys it,appreciates it as much as I did.btw, that's all original paint on that bike!!

    Good evening peeps,
With a heavy heart I need to pass on info that a family member has passed away. Mike (too tall) Bell. He had a heart attack yesterday while mountain bike riding. So sad. He was a hell of a human being. He was one that pushed that envelope always. Hell of a fisherman also.
Please raise your drinks in remembrance to a true legend in the moto world. He'll be missed for sure. Love you Mike.

I'll disagree with you about the CB900F... it was an awesome machine, one of the best handling machine of the time period if not the best handling... as a 900 it was down on HP compared to other 1100's but that's a given. The CB1100F was a "stroked" 900 and it didn't rev as freely as the 900. On the 1100 the front wheel was larger and there was a slight change to the front end geometry which meant it didn't handle nearly as nimble as the 900.... I owned both machines. Loved both of these machines.

I bought a Nighthawk 700s in Blue in 1984. It was the smoothest, best sounding new bike of it's day. I would ride it 6 hours from camp Lejeune NC to Baltimore on the weekends to see my girl, I'd put my feet up on the front blinkers to stretch out my legs cruzin up i95 110 mph, no cops at 2-3 am. Great memories

I had a cb1100fd in Sydney when they came out, same duco as this one. I knew all the cb1100r's very well. Mine (the Australian spec) was specd with all the gold stuff, & light stuff from the cb1100rd - you didnt see them like that overseas. The cb1100fd was much more refined than the cb1100rd and had a better electrical system, amongst other things. The fairings on the R's rattled, flexed and banged your knees. My D was the fastest production motorcycle, and I always seemed to out-accelerate my friends on the R's, and they me when we swapped. I ownd a gpz1100b2 as well. I have known or owned most of the flagship Honda's and Kawi's from 1979 until the early 2000's and always felt the cb1100fd and the first model (carburated) cbr1100xx met my broad needs beautifully, day after day in Sydney, touring/dicing with friends to motorcycle camping rallies, and visiting farms in the outback. I think the current touring specd Ninja H2 would be the easy choice now if I needed to do it all again. In summary, I reckon the cb1100fd was the premier sport-tourer of it's day, and it was much easier to live with and just as fast as the cb1100rd.

beautiful bike. I used to have one when i was stationed in Alaska (1995). Paid $300 not running... sold it not running for $600. perfect condition except that it didn't run, 11k miles. Cam Chain tensioner broke and i didn't have the money for rebuilding at that time. Thanks for the history lesson also. awesome bike.

speaking as a 70s guy that sold motorcycles in four different dealerships in the 70s through 90s. I’ve owned a few dozen motorcycles. And I can tell you that these in-line air cooled four-cylinder bikes, Sound and feel pretty much exactly the same. They all have that high frequency buzz caused by the Pistons stopping at the end of their strokes together..Have you ever heard the saying, if you tried one, you’ve tried them all, that pretty much applies here. Like women, they all look slightly different but they all feel the same

That's a sweet bike. Sounds great, looks great and nothing else could touch Hondas in those years for build quality, IMO. I had a 84 VF1000F.in the 90s, and that was a bad ass machine, the same color scheme as the one in the video. Magnificent machine, and very fast and fun, comfortable, and a fairing that did something. I have a ZX-14R now, and I love it, it's also furiously fast and fun my only dislike is the windscreen (looks awesome, but basically useless)

Oh the memories! My first bike was the Honda MB5. After about a year, I developed better skills and graduated to the Honda FT500 Ascot. Then feeling even more honed after about another year, took a ride to the dealer where I bought it and rode home on a CB1100F. About 2 weeks later, a Kerker 4 into 1 was installed. From that point my neighborhood was treated to a well orchestrated sonic symphony with me as the conductor....whew...those were the days!!

In 1983, here In Canada, Honda made available 3 ridiculously low priced bikes. My beloved CX650E, which had a similar shaped, steering mounted fairing.
Another one was this bike. Totally naked (no fairing), and some gold plated engine covers.
    Both esthetic masterpieces.
    Neither had really good trannies.

Spoken like a True Patriot Jr. This country, with such low morale these days, with a bumbling idiot as a President, that has to be babysat by his handlers 24/7, needs more people like the Kaplan Family, to raise the morale, and bring back Patriotism. Gotta love the Kaplan Family. It would be a privilege to be a member of your family. If I ever win the powerball, I will be buying more bikes from y'all. Much love and respect, from your biggest fan in New Orleans, La...Now, sadly, the Murder Capital of The World.
