- This week I'm taking a look at the versatile water-brush - one of the most often used tools in my sketching kit. There are various brands to choose from. How do they work and which is best?

Holbein Water Brushes are good, they have a breather hole so the air does not contaminate when it suck air in when you use it. But they are hard to get hold of. They hold a lot of water and have a good point.

That’s probably a good choice as a taster. The Pentel ones are nice but most are very small - I think I only ever use the big one :)

Thanks so much - very glad you found it useful. The flat brushes could be quite interesting filled with ink or wash. Though you will find they are not as good quality as an average paint brush - which has much finer bristles. Probably better suited to big and bold calligraphy rather than finer work.
