The snare at 3:08 is amazing :o
Wow! Sounds incredible
DW makes the best drums in the game. Best sounding drums.
Matt Rose everyone has personal opinions and preferences. I’ve own DW performance series and collectors series maple mahogany in the past and sold them both after I got a 5 piece tama starclassic BB hyperdrive kit with the new updated hardware brought down from the star series drums and it blows the dws away in every single way imo. Better build quality, wayyyy better hardware, better feel and rebound, better sound, better aesthetics, easier to tune, louder yet more dynamic. Sold the two DW kits and got another tama starclassic but a full Bubinga kit as my main kit and use the BB’s as a gigging kit and couldn’t be happier. Like I said everyone has their own preferences but for me Tama Drums is the sound and company for me.
@@andyham6094 not gonna lie, I have the performance and the Starclassic BB. I love them both. I love my performance for rock and just heavy hitting music but my Starclassic for dynamics and etc
Low key, I love my birch bubinga more but just wish I could get a matching 24 kick
@@andyham6094 lol thats truly debatable
@@Johnfromaustraliayeah TAMA drums sound so dead to me lol same with pearl 😅 dw’s sound so lovely to me I love how much than can actually sing even at low tunings..
Everything sounds dead compared to DW.
Pearl and tama are the worst.
Only gretsch comes close to DW. The only 2 pure drum sounds every other brand is chasing
I went back and forth for months between these and the Mapex Saturn V's. Finally decided to go with the performance series after I found a great deal on Reverb, and let me tell you, I couldn't be happier. The toms sing like no other kit I've played before, the hardware is incredibly sturdy, and the finish (particularly the black diamond shown here), has a really cool 3D effect. This will most likely be the only kit I will ever own, as there are tons of options when it comes to sizes, mounting, etc. Plus, it sounds and feels just like a collector's kit. Best money I've ever spent!
I am no shit looking at the exact same drums and cannot decide. I have heard the DW bass drum is somewhat disappointing compared to the Mapex. Can I ask you what made you go with DW over the Mapex shells?
@@camerons3331 So funny story, I actually only bought these because I got a really good deal at the time,. I then sold them and got a Saturn V, then sold the Saturn for an SJC Tour series, and then someone else sold me this exact kit again for cheap. You are correct in that the bass drum is a little bit disappointing, but the issues I had were fixed with a port hole being cut in the resonant head. The only issue is that you'll have to get another resonant head from the stock performance series head, as the tiny resonant holes make it difficult to put in a port hole.
Honestly, both are great options. DW has a better build quality, but the Mapex resonance with the walnut/maple shells is also fantastic. I personally would not go with the birch/walnut in the new Evolution series. It really just boils down to what kind of deals you can find.
If you're deciding between these and the Saturn V, they're about the same in terms of value, but if you're deciding between these and the Saturn Evolution, DW is the clear winner in terms of style and sound.
Hope this helps!
That snare is sweet!
Just subscribed, Mark, great fills you demonstrated, the mics, everything sounds full and very satisfying. ive just bought a DW Perfformance in Diamond Nebula 7pce (3xrack toms, two floors, snare, and kick with hardware and cymbals) and had the kick 22x18 thru a WW bins, sounded like thunder.
Awesome drums !!!
Id like to see the pearl roadshow rock kit. the one with only floor toms. also, i would like to see some oilskin heads
If you ever come to America, I’d like to get together and jam, you do some interesting chops I’d like to learn!! , very seriously!
Virginia, I have a collectors oak hard satin, love them
A little bit more money than a performance kit, but love love love the sound of Oak.
Thanks for the video, it was great!
Listen you guys are fucking incredible, I really want to see a "how to sound like Cliff Burton without Busting The Bank"
They've already done a sounds like 'tallica without busting the bank. But they didn't cover bass. But yeah I totally agree, Cliff would be epic. His rig isn't that complicated, a compression pedal, overdrive/fuzz and a wah pedal. Cliff had an Aria bass and a Rickenbacker, not sure if they have those though
how about an episode on travel kits.
🙂👍
This guy sounds like Andrew Hammond 100%.
way to play the toms with the snares on.....nah jk great review
This room gives me anxiety
It's England...space is a premium!
@@planetdog1641 My sister went to Paris not too long ago.
First?
please hire some one who knows how to mix. Its painful
what's wrong?
maybe try listening on some halfway decent speakers or headphones. if it still sounds bad, i'd recommend getting your ears checked out.
