I love how the front end is sharply angled to ensure pedestrians I hit get sheared in half. Elon thinks of every detail.
Well, he did say that this was a truck that was built to survive the zombie apocalypse. Sharpened corners would help with that.
Weapon of mass destruction 😂
That's why this monstrosity is not street-legal in the EU.
Which is why it will never go on sale in the EU and UK.
@@MatthewParksSr I think that the designers misunderstood the 'zombie apocalypse' bit. The zombies were supposed to be on the outside, the way it appears only zombies to be found will be driving this thing...
I wonder at what point this entire project went from “this is such a cool idea” to “we have to make it work somehow because you know who insists on it” amongst the engineers.
"this is an idea of you know who"!
Hahahaha thats exactly the vibes I get
Honestly imagine being the people who put all the time and effort into this, just to hear all the hate. I mean, I think its well deserved, they likely did the absolute best they could as far as design and engineering, and then Musk...
And the list they received from him on features that only make it harder to produce just so he could then go to podcasts pretending he did everything.
This project is part of a broader project for developing transport vehicles for Astronauts in Mars and the Moon. Of course it will need to be heavily adapted for such conditions (temperature, radiation, etc), but they are exploring concepts like the crazy steering that have in mind such "space" applications.
I love Marques kinda chill energy. Even way from the beginning to now, he has never tried to be anything he isn't. Admirable, man
I don't understand the rush to get away from physical items, like a door handle is just something that doesn't need changing.
Exactly, with this button you need two moves to do what you always did in one
its not rush, its just felon musk, the biggest thief of our century that feeds on novelty
That’s a good point. If the truck completely died, would it just lock up? I don’t know much about EVs
@@nathanielreichert4638if I recall correctly that's something people have been complaining about, that the board computer can throw a hissy fit and lock you in, especially if it crashes or something... Y'know, when you'd really wanna be getting out
@@alertedcoyote7892 i live near Baltimore county. I drove for an hour and a half, but only saw two Teslas today. One driving well and one on the side of the road with its hazards on. Not good odds XD
There are some things the Cybertruck does that I hope catches on with other manufacturers. Specifically, the headlight placement. It's nice and low, which is great because every truck has their headlights at EXACTLY FUCKING EYE LEVEL with every other driver on the road that's not also in a truck.
Idk if truck people will like the fact that it doesn’t blind other drivers, because that’s part of the fun for them
@@LukeIngels no it's not. I like bright lights so I can see but I hate blinding drivers because it's scary driving at night and not knowing if they are going to crash into you going on a opposite 2 lane. For that reason I keep the normal low and fog lights high to minimize blinding but also letting me see the road. The cybertruck is great that it has brights but facing downward.
Yes there are some jerks on the road that tailgate and blind people but that's not limited to trucks. Plenty of sedans and SUVs do that as well however it's not the majority of people.
@@LukeIngels You're projecting your weird fantasy, the average driver isn't like that.
I was literally frustrated by this last night in the rain because the F-150 kept tailing and blinding my side mirrors in my low Camry
More and more 2024 and 2025 models from BMW, Audi, Hyundai and other are showing lowered headlights already.
I doubt you’ll see this but… if you do the same kind of turning radius comparisons in the future, it might be easier to compare if you draw the path of each vehicle in different colors. Just a thought! Thanks!
that along with having both move at the same time
I thought of the same thing. It wasn't clear where the advantage in turning radius was, but really cool review nonetheless.
I thought the same thing, draw the outer most point on bumper making the true circle
The team did that on purpose to not offend the Ford people too much.
I didn't see much of a difference in the turn radius.

I never comment reviews videos but I like the way he doesn’t hold back on highlighting the negatives sides of some features
This is the rare MKBHD L.
The downside list should probably contain aspects of the design like the doors being razor sharp, the panels rusting, poor visibility, and having missed so many of the design promises that were originally made.
Disappointed to see such a focus on the limited upside of this vehicle after calling the Fisker Ocean the worst car you've ever reviewed.
30:06 I feel like this scene would’ve been so much better if the f150 lightning and the cyber truck both stopped where they started the turn, would’ve shown how much of a difference there is between both of them
You can see the difference when the Lightning is turning off camera and the CT stays within frame.
Thank God it wasn’t just me. I watched it like five times to make sure i was not crazy. It’s extremely hard to tell any difference in that visual
what difference? There is barely any difference
I was expecting that, and then when it didnt happen, I was thinking to myself, wait, wtf..
Ackshually if both cars just do 360 and stop where they started, they would be in the same position and there would be no difference.
The main difference is visible on the 180 degree point, on the other side of the turn.
I just imagine how lethal this car would be in a car accident

As someone who has driven full-sized pickups most of their adult life, I can completely understand the "Where is my nose" concern. We used to just put an antenna with a bright orange tip to indicate, but you can't do that here. I would recommend taking the truck to a parking lot and practice parking using the front-facing camera to help build that muscle memory.
I'm very curious to see how this car handles brutal winter weather. If your rear view relies on a camera, what happens when it’s covered in salty road spray? What happens if the rolling bed cover is caked in ice and you need to open it? Is the massive wiper blade heated?
I wonder how efficency of the batteries will look like after two or three years in this particular car.

MKHD, thank you for your review of the Cybertruck at this point. It was most informational, and it will be interesting to see the continued development of this truck in the future. As the world moves further into electric vehicles, I also believe it will be more important that the automotive industry look at its pricing and the ability of the average person to invest in future vehicles of this type. The Cybertruck would not be my first choice and I have enjoyed driving the Ford F150. I must say I still love my gas power and the ability of myself being able to get under the hood and work on my vehicles but the future of automotive is changing daily and its most important people get a full understanding of what they are getting ready to invest their money and you do an excellent job of pointing this out. You do the best reviews of tech on UA-cam today. I truly appreciate that in your videos.
Thanks,
So... the first thing that came to mind when you looked at how sharp those edges are on it... Being made of stainless steel, if you accidently hit someone, even going relatively slow, on the corner... That's gonna cause some pretty serious bodily harm compared to a rounded/plastic headlight.... Like, that's sharp enough to just outright split a person open instead of them bouncing off and flying.
this will be (probably) the reason why in EU it wont get aproved.
Also the big windshild - how expensive it must be to get this shit repaired. In EU you cant drive with a windshild who has a crack inside, so you gotta swap fast. idk seem srsly not good practice to have something that big to be replaced if you drive often on highways etc where small stones all time flip up
Hitting anyone with your vehicle is pretty serious
@@hollow7981 It's not a passenger car. You Can register even full-size trucks in EU and they all have much taller front-ends than this. Hell, most new cars sold are crazy tall right now and many SUVs have completely vertical front ends, so passenger cars regulations have little to do with actual pedestrian safety in this reality of exploiting the legal loopholes.
The windshield is huge, but truck windshields are huge anyway and this is at least not too upright. Owners of big windshields (like big RVs) put transparent PPF foil on them. And I doubt anyone will use this car as a highway daily... or at least anyone sane ;)
@@pdcichoszthere are pedestrian safety regulations here in the eu, believe it or not. If you can register some of the "american" trucks that means that they passed the safety tests, we'll see about this one being sharp and with way more rigid panels.
Speaking of trucks there is a single RAM something truck in my city, I have no idea how big pickups are so common in the US it's so obnoxious lol. There obviously are other pickup trucks but they're much more reasonable, and being used to do actual work
@@pdcichosz - It's not the height of the front end. Cars have to have crumple zones and so forth. You cannot have a vehicle which is basically a stainless steel wedge. You can easily Google better information but it is also the weight which means you cannot drive it on a normal driving licence. The EU doesn't want 3.5 tons of stainless steel with no crumple zone smashing into the back of little family cars.
As far as I heard it is already known it won't pass EU standards of safety.
On a personal note, I'm not sure it is going to live up to the standards of an actual truck and he's been beaten to market with an electric truck. I think Tesla might be in trouble. Twitter is draining money and time out of the company and the semi-truck will never come to market and everything else like the robot is BS.
If this fails, which I think it will they are in serious trouble.

@@georgetrice then what? the police don't care about your hubcaps.
As a person who has done a bit of repair work on older trucks I can assure you no mechanic in existence could ever work on this thing.
Which is exactly what Musk and Tesla want, you're forced to visit their mechanics and pay them directly.
It's such a piss take of a truck haha
Yet! My first goal (when I get mine) will be to learn it inside and out. Like every other piece of hardware I own, it'll be fully custom. People doing the same will inevitably be in high demand as Cybertrucks start to roll (or limp) into shops. I can tell you I'm particularly excited that it can not only run my welder, but is _literally made of blank stainless panels!_ I think people are vastly underestimating the versatility of that, and the degree of customizability this will bring. *You can magnet/weld things to the truck!* Cybertruck might accidentally become a Maker fad!
While I can only imagine in anticipation of the Artist's visions it'll enable, for me it's going to be a utility workhorse. Winches, boxes, benches, etc... This thing was built to be a Mars rover, and I'll probably end up using it much like they will, there.

Regarding the door I don't really personally care about fingerprints but it looks like a good way to smash or even lose a finger if you try to open it on a slope and get a bit careless.
Dam might be right lol
The seal is gonna age very quickly if that's where people pull the door from.
If it's like the Mustang Mach-e, which does the same button trickery, then it's physically impossible to close the door again until it's been opened a couple of degrees. There's a mechanical thing that extends when you press the button, and stays extended until the door is opened further.
Good catch

23:00 Satisfying sound right there
My aunt's BMW X1 (forgot what year) has this speed meter that's only visible to the driver. So the real display is hidden right around the dashboard behind steering wheel. It is projecting the numbers vertically up and then being reflected ninety degrees on the windshield straight into the driver's eyes. Really cool stuff. I am more shock that Tesla didn't do something like this with their speed display.

Be interesting to see how it performs in crash tests with what seems to be a very rigid body and crumple zones that don't look like they would crumple easily

We are a 6 figure income couple and had very little saved and not much cash lying around the preverbal".
'...don't have $500 for an
emergency" that was us. The big thing was debt all kinds of it, cars mortgage (although our home isn't a high price one), student loans for our kids, and of course credit cards.
One day we just got sick of being broke and went total scorched earth and became frugal overnight. Paid it all off, it took almost 5 years but now we have no debt and this year our savings rate is 50% on basically the same income that had us perpetually broke. So for us it is mainly staying out of debt and watching our spending, at first it was a real effort to save in our HISA and 401Ks but now it's actually fun watching our money grow. No car or vacation or neighborhood is worth being broke or financially unstable.

One of these was driving from Phoenix to Vegas when I saw it. It appeared insane.
I bought one last week and i'm waiting for the moment to drive it
All these years later and the spirit of the Pontiac Aztek lives on. Good work Tesla.

Pontiac walked so cyberbeast could run
I kinda liked the Aztek lol
My mom had an Aztec when I was younger took my driving test with it, passed it. But visibility in that thing and turn radius made me almost hit the cones.
@@dillardc81 the Aztec was cool bruh, 😂 the Cybertruck is just weird
I don’t know how you do it Marques. You’re just as good reviewing cars as you are with phones and tech. You were born to do this bro. Major props.
This is tech....wtf.
Marques is definitely not as good at reviewing cars as he is tech lol. But that's fine!

Solid. Good Job!
Funniest thing about this is when he gets in and says! So much going on!!! just looks at a screen 😂😂
Watching "the back seat trick" had me rollin. Trucks have always had foldable rear seats
Right 😂 it’s very common in trucks
you can fit an entire miniature horse back there!
don't ask me how i know this
most cars do, not just trucks. they just usually fold forward to increase trunk space, which is arguably more practical. But then again you're unlikely to buy a truck for practical reasons anyway.
It’s awesome for dogs, that way they aren’t clawing up your seats. 😂
Was between the rivian and this before, now leaning into CT camp, just love the form follows function approach, and the fact that it's slightly smaller than the f150. Might not arrive to Europe though because of regulations, bummer. Still got a couple of years before I can consider either for a reasonable price over here. Great vid.
Also concerned about that door opening in the winter. My Model 3 freezes shut in the winter all the time and it actually has a handle 😅
Nice 😂
That’s actually a big deal
I live in socal so this wouldn’t be an issue for me but I remember seeing somewhere that there’s a function somewhere in the app to force open the door? Not just unlock but actually push out the door.
Oh also this is potentially dangerous and risky because opening this way doesn’t adjust the window to open properly so the window may get damaged. So only for emergencies
Just use Vaseline on the door rubbers and on your handles. It make sure it will not get stuck😂
really smooth how u did the ridge wallet....now i want one
I'm 68 and probably over the hill as a driver, but I'll be damned if I'm going to get a car that doesn't have an *analog* speedometer I can glance at through my steering wheel. Not to mention one with virtually no convenient knobs and buttons. Tesla didn't get rid of them to make its cars look sleek and futuristic; it got rid of them to lower its production costs. And there's no doubt in my mind that burying basic car controls like AC and music in a touch screen makes solo driving more dangerous.
This 70 year old AGREES…
If the wheels were rectangular it would match the aethetics

A real Homer Simpson car. Well, Musk seems to have taken some inspirations anyways.
how much uglier do you want this truck to be
Crazy how almost every imported new car used to have extra bumpers for pedestrian safety and now you get this block of steel
Stainless steel* its more expensive and you can hear the bonk better when you smack pedestrians with it
It's frustrating how everyone is ignoring the fact that these larger vehicles are far more dangerous to pedestrians. When hit by a car people get pushed under the car instead of over the hood.
Those sharp corners on the front should be illegal. It's incredibly immoral to make a dangerous car like that just to suit Musk's vanity. It doesn't improve the car's performance or add new features.
I just don't want to get run over by a massive useless vehicle.

The thing I think is a missed opportunity with the large windshield is an HUD where they could have put the speedometer and a simplified navigation picture.
Plenty of 3rd party options exist, but it isn't needed
Yep but Tesla will never do a HUD unfortunately
@thomasreese2816 you don't get get to decide whats necessary or not. Having a hud is always better. The option to disable it should depend on the customer
@@thomasreese2816what's needed and what isn't is the question. A heads up display would have been great especially since it only has one screen. All that space is just wasted
@@thomasreese2816 The whole car isn't needed, but we do not buy only the things we strictly need.
Really wish you'd just put the standard units for measurement for distance etc for the rest of the world in a bracket or something.

Diese Arbeit ist ein wahres Kunstwerk. Bravo!
Wonderfull!Thank you.
Pointy corners and high blocky front combined with a rigid exoskeleton. I guess we're not going to see this in Europe anytime soon, and honestly, I'm glad it won't be hitting pedestrians here, for all that some of the other features are cool. I can imagine every dog owner I know cheering those tip-up theatre-style rear seats, for a start! And the rear wheel steering is very nifty.
It's too heavy for Europe anyway.
@@_Dimon_ Could license it as a 7,5 tons truck. Just need different drivers license then.
@@axell964 truck driving license is expensive, and some countries also special road tax that applies to all trucks over 3000 kg. Hopefully that stops Cybertruck from reaching EU.

I find it hilarious that all these creators don’t have a thing to say about the racism that’s being peddled by the maker of this truck…..Not a word just crickets😂This just shows that they’re so afraid to lose early access to the tech and other things they review and get paid for they’re willing to stay silent🙂I wonder if Marques would say anything if it was aimed towards the black community🤔I get it…. it’s a not my race not my problem thing.
The right side sit folds up!!!! Like a normal truck wow!!!
You have to turn the power on to open the glovebox?
One thing that no one seems to notice is the limited access to the front of the bed. Because of the shape of the back, the height of the sides at the front of the bed is nearly shoulder height (Marques seems pretty tall), so there is no way to reach over the side and into the bed. Since there doesn't seem to be any step at the side, the only way to access the front of the bed is from the back. Say you put something in the bed at the back and it slides to the front during driving, You'd have to open the tailgate and climb into the bed to retrieve it. This makes me question the CT's practicality as a real day to day work truck
Exactly how does everyone miss that?
No argument about the difficulty of reaching over the front of the bed but you have a lot to learn if you put an unsecured item in the back of the bed. Touch your brakes at anything over five mph and it will come flying forward. Ask me how I know.
why not just put the item in the back seat? The bed is for longer items.
@@AldoVanucci1966 you can simply lower the backend as seen in the original 2019 announcement event🎉
I'd say most modern 1/2T trucks have the same issue (unless they have a step there). I have a 22 F150, I'm 6'1, and I still have challenge reaching anything in front of the bed from the side.
Would've loved to have seen a camera angle shot from the drivers perspective regarding visibility. The super long A pillars look like they would create troublesome blind spots. It was mentioned that visibility is good, but show us that too.
that is impossible to actually express with a camera. You can get a view, but cameras see VASTLY differently than our 2 eyes, in 3d, in the real world, with a tilting head.
@@jf8138We could've gotten at least a better idea by him doing what Matt suggested.

That thing is hideous
Yes. Weird architecture, plus the fact that the wiper only goes so far across the windshield, makes it look potentially bad with regard to visibility.
The windshield just reminds me of Citroen C4 Picasso 2016

Hahaha! Helll yeeaah! I caught that too 😆
No door handles and the fact u have to put your fingers in the door just seem like a great way to break your fingers if you get bumped into or something. Frozen door is a good point too
It does seem like there is a LOT to re-learn about driving when it comes to this truck. As far as the frozen door goes I don't think there will be much to be concerned about. If the door is frozen on a traditional vehicle, you're still facing the same problem.
No doubt. Pinched fingers was my first thought too
Other electric opening doors have a pin that holds the door open until the door has been manually opened and then closed again. It makes pinching hard to impossible. No idea if Tesla did this though
Tesla have a app so if you are smart in the winter just turn on warming from the app and then the is will smelt
Doubt it and didn't look like it@@Zachary55

I wasn’t feeling the shape and design of the cyber truck at first but now I feel like I’m totally digging it. I think it just took time to adjust, but now I really do love it! Excited to see all upcoming mods! 🎉
I’d be very interested to hear about safety testing, all those sharp corners feel like they might add to the impact of an accident.
not sure what sharp corners have to do with anything..its the weight and force behind the impact that matters the most
