Elvis, The top selling solo artist of all time
A great reaction! Elvis has many great songs, and another powerful, heartfelt performance is... If I Can Dream(white suit)! 👍
Elvis lived in the ghetto growing up. He lived in poverty!!! This was in the 70's. Yes he's the one who says thank you, thank you very much. All of his songs are great. He's speaking facts.
I went seen Elvis Presley three times in the seventies even the last date last concert he put on in Omaha Nebraska in 1977 before he passed away of August 18th it was on Father's Day in June so I went seen him it was awesome and that's what he look like he was a greatest performer that could ever be on this Earth and God Rest his soul he was terrific
Anita, you were so lucky to have seen him live.
May I correct you on a couple if things? After 45 years, it's understandable that memories may fade a bit.
The concert in Omaha (June 19th) was not his last (unless you mean it was the last time you saw him, or the last one in Omaha). That was Indianapolis (June 26th). He passed away on August 16th. August 18th was the funeral.
Father's day was indeed June 19th (I had to look this up). 😅
I am a huge fan of the later years, but still think Omaha was a low key performance with the exception of How Great Thou Art. Did that give you chills?
I was 9 when he died and it left me feeling crushed. The dude was THE definition of "bigger than life".
If you get into elvis you won't regret it. There's has been so .much garbage written about him after his death its great to see utube reactions finally getting to know the truth about him .
Check out Elvis a generous heart or elvis in the black community. Elvis grew up dirt poor with black friends .
He is he said it lol . Check out If I can dream .. suspicious minds 1970 polk salad Annie 1970 .
He started in 1954
Elvis' background singers you mentioned "the Sweet Inspirations" founding member was Cissy Houston (Whitney Houston's mother). Cissy sang with Elvis the previous year, but left the group by this time to be a stay-at-home mom raising Whitney and her siblings.
But they all sang with Aretha Franklin, and many other greats back in the day, and obviously here with Elvis also.
As you said, they were a great vocal Edition to a song like this.
Elvis would agree with you as he himself said they helped compliment his voice and put the same feeling in their vocals that he had for a song.
Nice reaction
did cissy sing on this?
Only one clown zappa
Yes, Cissy sang on this preformance, she was with him in 1970. The sweet inspirations were with Elvis from 1969 to 1977.
@@WoodsWoman822 Cissy did not perform on this performance, nor any time with Elvis in 1970. I mentioned it in my original comment above, pointing out she was the founding member but she was with him only the previous year in the Summer of 69. I pointed that out because so many people mistakenly say she was with the Sweet Inspirations at this time in 1970.
For some reason some people like to keep saying she was with Sweets here in 1970, but Cissy herself has been very clear on this in her own interviews that she left after the 1969 season. If you look around on the internet you will find interviews from both her and other members of Sweet Inspirations all verifying this
Attention for zappa fan ladies and Gentleman, hahahaha
Elvis was born into extreme poverty and he never forgot where he came from. Please do a reaction to Elvis and the black community . When i saw you were reacting to Elvis i subbed. thank you
I wouldn't call it 'EXTREME' poverty. He claimed himself that he was never hungry.
@@walterhale gee let’s split hairs
@@christopherjon1245 Do you like it when people say that Elvis weighed around 300lbs? Or that he was racist? Well, I don't. Why should we spread lies or exagerrations? It goes both ways.
@@walterhale I disagree. The Presleys were so poor that they couldn't afford a coffin, so his stillborn twin Jesse had to be buried in a shoebox. He was laid to rest in Priceville Memorial Gardens in Tupelo. A SHOE BOX! He lived in a one room shotgun house (shack) with a porch, and without electricity. How many people do you know that live in a shack they built without electricity? AND ---- they lost it because they couldnt pay back the $150 they borrowed to build it.
@@depper as crude as it may sound, a sensible family on the brink of poverty living through the great depression would use the little money they had for their basic needs and not 'waste' it on a coffin for a stillborn, a very common occurence. You have to do what you have to do.
I will say again, they were on the brink of poverty, but calling someone who never suffered hunger and always had a roof on theur head EXTREMELY poor to me is a gross exagerration, especially during the 1930s/40s.
That, by no means, makes claims that Elvis knew poverty any less true.
"All my life, I've always had a nice time. We never had any money or nothin', but we never were hungry, you know. That's something to be thankful for.”
Yes Elvis did the thank you very very much thing. If you want to see part of why he was sweating so much during a set that lasted at least an hour, check out Suspicious Minds 1970 in Vegas.
He also does the thank you. Thank you very much after that song.
"If I Can Dream" by Elvis is a must react to. A tribute to MLK.
The man is beyond a legend
Great reaction! You should RELLY do a reaction for (Elvis Presley & the Black community) 👍
Elvis was singing from experience. Tupelo Mississippi ghetto was his home until he was 14 when his entire family moved to Memphis in hopes of finding work. Elvis lived in multiple projects until he made it. Memphis was a step up for him. In Tupelo he had no electricity nor indoor plumbing. Sometimes no food. He was a kind and talented man. He has never stolen music from anyone. He was brought up with black families and black
Church. Yes, you are right...it was Elvis who always said Thank
You, Thank you very much.
he might not have stolen music from black artists himself
but the colonel who pulled all the strings that made Elvis move certainly did!
I don't ever seem to have read nor seen any where where Elvis wouldn't sing a song given to him to sing that the colonel told him to sing.
@@bwana-ma-coo-bah425 Full of shit and you know it. Always starting racist arguments on every Elvis thread its amazing you arent banned by now. I recommend this reactor ban you from commenting before you fill up walls of racist accusations and BS.
@@depper I second that.
Zappa should have learned to sing, this clown
@@bwana-ma-coo-bah425 What's your point? A young kid is given music to sing. Why wouldn't he sing it. You listen to Big Momma Thorton doing "hound Dog' then listen to Elvis's version you would almost think they're two different songs.
My man Elvis beautiful inside and out
People forget, Elvis also grew up in that Ghetto, that's why he was singing in black churches. His family was broke also and he lived in a mixed area
1969. This was the height of Elvis' career. If you want to explore some of his earlier stuff: Jail House Rock, Trying to Get to You, A Little Less Conversation
Elvis grew up very poor in Mississippi, then Tennessee. He lived in interracial neighborhoods & attended predominately black churches. There were a few minor things he did to state where he stood when racial tensions started in the later 1960s/early 1970s. Some of his song choices were one of them. The other was switching to black backup singers.
Great from the greatest!!!❤❤❤🇫🇮
CHECK OUT EVERYTHING!! ANYTHING!! YOU CAN'T LOSE WITH ELVIS........
Elvis had the best female backup singers male backup singers best band and a orchestra too and the most versatile singer ever he can sing gospel country rythum and blues pop rock and roll if you want to see who Elvis really was watch Elvis and the black community that echo will never die 1 and 2
He exploded when he was 19 and he died at the age of 42 and so there is so many different eras of Elvis. But it's all good. If you want another meaningful one which they all really are but anyway, his finale to his 1968 Comeback Special where they wanted them to do a Christmas song but he did a tribute to dr. King oh, his friend, that is pretty powerful. The white suit version with a red tie. You can hear the pain in his voice but he still manages to sing it somehow. And he's exhausted at the end of it. If I can dream.
you have no ideal what you are missing ! the more of ELVIS you hear and see you will love him too ! please do much more reactions on ELVIS ! thank you !
Welcome to Elvis! You ain't seen nothin' yet!! lol Much love, Elvis!!
I love Elvis reactions! He is the BEST. Great job. Don’t stop! Lol. 🤴🏻
THANK YOU...................THANK YOU VERY MUCH.... for a great reaction
The song was written by Mac Davis, a singer in his own right. But at the time Mac could not produce this song, it needed a more established singer to bring it out. Elvis did it, and it actually took some courage. For another brave song from the same era, check out "Society's Child" by Janis Ian, on the topic of interracial relationships. They are not a problem any more, they are common. But at the time of the song we had not evolved to where we are now.
Love that you mentioned Lilo and Stitch. I have been playing that movie for my little granddaughters to introduce them to Elvis 🙂 enjoyed your reaction
Elvis always said thank you! Thank you very much. Lots of times Also " you're a fantastic audience "
And that cycle goes on.
Oh my God how old are you yeah it’s awesome that your younger generation is wearing about Elvis because your music now came from him and his music came from gospel soul country and rock that’s when music was real music
You have the right person. He used to say "Thank you, thank you very much" and it became a meme. So many people copied it.
Elvis grew up in a Tupelo, Mississippi ghetto; Dad, Vern, was in jail for bad checks. He sang in church...Gospel was his first love...he sang "That's All Right, Mama" in 1954, when a teenager for his Mother's birthday, at Sun Records. He was a Spec 4 in the Army, got out in 2 years. Released "Heartbreak Hotel" in 1956 to a massive amount of controversy from religious groups because of his movements. He made a string of musical romance movies, that he didn't want to do. Finally got a decent script for "King Creole", his only b&w movie. He just wanted to make music. His singing career took a dip when his wife left him, and the Beatles arrived, his "Comeback Tour" helped immensely. When he sang "In the Ghetto", which his manager thought would kill his career, he fought to sing it, (it was written by Mac Davis, who originally titled it "The Vicious Circle") and here we are...as relevent, and often played, today, 57 years later, as it was in 1969, when it was released. His backup singers were the Sweet Inspirations, which included Cissy Houston, mother of Whitney Houston. Thank you for your great reaction.
Interesting fact. Whitney Houstons mum was a backing singer on this track! Cheers from London 🇬🇧! Elvis was the king of rock and roll. A legend.
if you believe what you just wrote
then you believe in the invisible army too.
no she was not!
Wow thanks for the laugh, hahahaha
Always the same shit,
Have you ever seen blood, zappa fan
There is a movie coming out about Elvis in June. You need to react to the trailer and see the movie.
What you need to know about Elvis….Coolest Cat to ever step on a Stage
How long has he been performing?
Let's just say that his vegas stints lasted around a month with 2 shows a night i.e. averaging 56 shows in 28 days.
and in the whole time he has been performing
why did it take him until 1969 to use any black artist?
@@bwana-ma-coo-bah425 still haven't found peace have you? I will not bother answering your provocative question. I will just say that if you knew what you were talking about, you'd know you're completely off track. Keep hating, cause it's the only thing you can do well.
He sounds like a brocken record, he always write the same nonsense, hahahaha
Zappa fan, hahahaha now I have to laugh, hahahaha hahahaha
I am telling you, the circus is waiting for you, hahahaha
Thank you
I was born and raised in Chicago the song that he’s singing about is Cabrini Green projects which series good Times was the setting but yeah a lot of my friends here at the prison or died the song is for real man is still relevant to this day
Candyman
He was raised in the ghetto
In the ghettoooo...
Just subscribed because this was your first time experiencing Elvis, and hoping you will continue on that journey. Elvis recorded over 700 songs. He changed music and culture. His voice is so unique it can't be auto tuned. It's all Elvis!! Next performance must be If I Can Dream (the white suit version) from his 1968 TV Special, Performed just months after Martin Luther King's murder. Then young Elvis doing Jailhouse Rock, ( you want the clip from his movie Jailhouse Rock). He choreographed the scene.
tell me,
1. how did he change music?
2. how did he change culture?
this will be interesting
Zappa can not hold a candle to elvis, this clown
50 % of zappa songs were Bullshit, nonsense
Did you shed tears when your Frank zappa die zappa fan?hahahaha, hahahaha
If you want to see more of him I can dream, trying to get to you from 1968, and Bridge Over Troubled Water from 1970 live are all fantastic
Right person, it keeps happening still
In total number of songs in the top 100 sales charts of the day, Elvis Presley (The King of Rock & Roll) more than doubled the number of songs The Beatles put on the charts. Between 1956-77, Presley put 134 songs in the Top 100 charts. That’s an average of what, 6 per year ... For 22 years. His first was “Heartbreak Hotel,” in March of 1956. He's 'The King of Rock & Roll' for a reason. & Presley saw both sides of his 45 singles reach the Top 100 at the same time as individual hits 39 times! No other artist in history ever came close. Like him don't like him, that's ok. But Elvis is special & you need to know that. He is the King.
Elvis was dirt poor when he was young. If I can Dream from his 68 comeback special is a great song. Anything Elvis sings is fine with me
FYI ... Elvis's daughter Lisa Marie was married to Michael Jackson. Yes, the Michael Jackson.
SALUDOS DESDE ARGENTINA, MUCHAS GRACIAS POR REACCIONAR AL REY, TE RECOMIENDO TRILOGÍA AMERICANA Y MENTES SOSPECHOSAS Y TODAS DE REY DEL ROCK 🙋
This is from a 1970 Vegas concert, the song was released by him in 1969. Elvis recorded over 700 songs and acted in 31 movies. He is called the King of Rock and Roll and yes, he is know for thank you, thank you very much. He preformed in Vegas from 1969 til his death at age 42 in 1977. He could sing all genres of music including gospel. He is the most famous performer of the 20th century. Numerous books, documentaries and movies about him have been The King. A new Elvis movie is coming out in June. His TV appearances at age 21 in 1956, caused quite a stir and controversy among many adults and on some shows he was only shown from the waste up. They called him Elvis the Pelvis, and some DJs in the Deep South refused to play his records. I hope you explore some of his performances. His 68 Comeback Special Tv show is a good place to start, as well as his 1956, black and white TV performances on The Ed Sullivan show, or Milton Berle show. He was also a pretty good dancer. I’m sure if you continue to cover him, people will give you song and performance suggestions. His Jailhouse Rock performance from his 1957 movie titled Jailhouse Rock, is considered the first music video. I wish you success whatever you choose.
Love your reactions please keep them coming. Your new to Elvis so You should check out ( Elvis and the black community That echo will never die) it will answer a lot of questions and you’ll learn Elvis’s background and what he went through. You won’t regret it!!!! Ty
No, Elvis said that at the end of his concerts :)
Have you reacted to Elvis's movie trailer???
You haven't reacted to Pink Floyd on your channel?!! Wow, I'm shocked. I highly recommend Time (studio version) ASAP, even if it's not a reaction video. 🌈💗
your listening to the king
You could wear sideburns with distinction.
one of the three black women his back up singers is whitney houstens mom, and back in those days elvis wouldnd stay at hotels os play venues that wouldnt have blacks. he was ahead of his time
If l can dream for MLK n R Kennedy song✌️
😎👍
Elvis grew up in the ghetto so this was not a song to show off his charitable side. Elvis experienced together the ghetto..
about 1968 elvis died in 1977
no it was elvis who said that
You should listen to if I can dream from the 1968 comeback he's wearing a white suit so you know you have the right video it's a special one it was his tribute to Martin Luther King and John f Kennedy and Robert Kennedy all who were assassinated John Kennedy in 1963 and Martin Luther King and Bobby Kennedy in 1968
1969 I believe
Elvis was not from the Ghetto, but he was sharecropper poor, country poor, he grew up in abject poverty. He di$ so much during his lifetime to help people, because he knew how it felt to be hungry.
Yes Elvis was dirt poor living in the south in the black community "Ghetto" Johnny Bravo LOL Yes He did that I remember watching that with my youngest son now 26 I love Johnny Bravo and that came from Elvis LOL
Elvis is actually VERY MUCH talking from experience. Elvis was different, and his perspective was different than 99% of the white people of his era. Elvis grew up in the poorest parts of the South during the Great Depression and Segregation. And he lived in and understood the lowest depths of poverty. Only 4 white families on his block, he lived and played with black children while living in a one room shotgun house (shack) with a porch, and without electricity. How poor was Elvis? His twin, Jesse Garon Presley was born about 30 minutes before Elvis. Sadly, he was still born. The Presleys were so poor that they couldn't afford a coffin, so Jesse had to be buried in a shoebox. He was laid to rest in Priceville Memorial Gardens in Tupelo. A SHOE BOX! Elvis was showing love and looking towards God for answers to the crazy world he lived in..... while we live in a world where we can go to a website and ask for money to help bury our loved ones... We are living in tough times for many today, but back then it was actually worse for many people.
That is a statement I can fully agree on and this proves to me we are in line, much more than our replies on another comment would make one think.
Elvis has seen more of the Ghetto than you. Look it up.
@@bwana-ma-coo-bah425 No. He Lived with blacks and a few Whites in the neighborhood. Do your research.
Watch out he wants to teach you something, hahahaha
@@bonimcnatt4844 he grew up as a white boy maybe in the ghetto, he did not grow up as a black boy in the ghetto. you do your research Elvis was not black!
Please watch community black eccept eccept Elvis part 1n2,dedecated the song to MLK n R Kennedy after assassination✌️🇺🇲🇺🇲🇺🇲🇺🇲🇺🇲🇺🇲
I agree with Angela I think you should look into Pink Floyd I think one of their best was wish you were here but I really enjoyed office thank you
Elvis Presley
if i cant see the video im not gonna watch you
why the video hasn't changed
True elvis expert, hahahaha
But the circus is waiting
That was about the time he was getting ill. Too many pills the same old story. He even took a med to stop him sweating so much. He had a ten pound suit on and under those hot lights didn't help. Such a sad way to go.;
he started using drugs in the army.
pills is what he took because no one would write new songs for him
same song night after night.
drugs were his only way out.
@@bwana-ma-coo-bah425 do you even realise you make no sense?
1. No one wanting to write songs for Elvis - that's hilarious juat the way it is!
2. Taking drugs because of that - equally ridiculous
3. Same songs night after night? - look up how many different songs he performed on stage in 8 years and compare them to other artists.
4. So according to you, he had no songs to release post 1960? 🤣🤣🤣
Why am I even wasting time with such a troll?!
@@walterhale listen here you overly under educated fool!
pay close attention.
it is well documented that song writers stopped writing songs for Elvis because the colonel wanted 50% of the rites to any song Elvis sang. Where did I write 1960?
That is you and your tiny brain clasping at straws!
He knew his career was over.
Vegas shows night after night same song night after night no new material. Drugs were his only way out. Any real Elvis fan knows all about that. You are just delusional! Look it up on the dictionary, it will have a picture of you!
The zappa Fan wants attention, hahahaha
The troll is almost in every elvis Video and always write the same one_sided rubbish about elvis, he probably write down the questions and answers to present them here, to get attention, always the same Procedure 😂 😂 😂 😂
Okayyyy....this Song didn't even affect you...no depth in your reaction at all...geeez....maybe look at others having reactions
