I just tried it to unlock my Sony Xperia Z1 that has been locked for 3 years and it works! Doesnt matter if you remember your google account or not, just agree to it because its not required after the software repair is done.
Worthy to note that i attempted this about 3 times, there was some software error pop up but i just restarted the whole process as per the above video. Thank you!!!
