My favorite by far is the NetZero Fire E-One, but that 40" width needs to be stretched to 60". I know Kalfire was working on larger units, but I don't know if they have any plans for bringing them to the USA market. Pity, because despite the outrageous price-points, a 60" option would get my wife onboard!

Thanks for your reviews-much appreciated as we switch from gorgeous but sadly stinky/messy wood burning to an electric.. gas isn't an option due to location.. Does the modern flame update with new "scenes" as they film more? I'm hesitant because there are so many options.. but what if the technology just keeps getting better..am I stuck with old technology? Thanks again!

Random question: do you think Dimplex will come out with a new Revillusion? Or is it mow considered “old” technology? It’s absolutely the one that looks most real when OFF. pretty good when ON. A few updates and it would probably blow the competition out of the water..

What do you think of the MagikFlame electric fireplaces? We have been trying to decide between gas and electric and I think electric is the way to go so that I can enjoy visuals all year and of course I’m sure the inevitable regulations on gas.

I have a question, I have a client asking me about Touchstone Sideline Elite , is this a quality fireplace that pushes out good heat w/o running electricity bill up ? I know 1st hand Dimplex is great with heating a room up w/o running your bill up
Def not touchstone. They are a price point big box model. I would say Orion #2

Great video! On the Modern Flames Orion, how's the reflectivity while it is off? I've seen some other pictures/videos and it looked like basically a mirror while off. For sure it looks the most realistic and stunning but not sure how it would look having basically a mirror in the fireplace while off.
Yeah its essentailly a mirror. We always have it on. Depending on the angle of the install you mgiht not see any refelction.

Hey brother... Thanks for the Vid.. Were in the Springs and I just recently started digging into artificial fireplaces. We bought a
Crawford 47" by Real Flame (WayFair). Not happy with the fake thin logs and the lack of a real clock to schedule on/off, and does not select temp below 72Deg. It's actually to hot. Are all the RealFlames brand like this?

I hate the linear fireplaces. I guess I’m a traditionalist. But a linear fireplace would never be mistaken for real.

Quick question - we are planning to build a house with a den that is only 13 x 16. It will have a 6-foot-wide opening with French doors that open to our kitchen/breakfast area. Is this space too small for a direct vent gas fireplace? Would an electric fireplace be more appropriate? We would much prefer an actual flame but want something that is safe. A low BTU output direct vent fireplace would be ideal. Ventless isn't an option but we would love your feedback.

yup i agree. it’s almost like the newest digital style flames are TOO detailed, especially the Orion. i would buy the Revillusion now if Dimplex would friggin modernize the controls (bluetooth, wifi, phone app, etc). Sound would be nice too. Dimplex seems like a good company but they’ve been really resting on their laurels

I think you are on to something with cracking the code for a nice heat electric. How about a gas/electric hybrid. A contained/concealed gas burner and a blower, with an electric display just for the visual. Cheaper/better heat, high performance, no safety or cleaning concern, adjustable visuals.

Ootimyst is probably one of the most expensive. I would say for a traditional going napoleon or amantii.
Just not there yet. Still look super fake unfortunately.

My biggest complaint is that the flames aren’t bright enough.
Sorry but imo an electric fireplace is horrid.
It’s ridiculously inefficient, especially considering if the electricity you’re using was generated via natural gas or coal… you’d be 5x better off using actual gas and not suffering the inefficiency of converting to electricity in the middle. Especially since the generation of electricity byproduct literally is heat.
