This ridiculous zonal marking that they implemented in the last 15 years to make it easier to score more goals nowadays fails a lot and gives the player a lot of space to receive the ball freely to do whatever he wants. Anyone who saw the individual marking stuck man to man a few years ago thinks it's easy to play today.

Italian teams like Atalanta play man to man marking.... Se what happened when played against Madrid.... Also there's a thing a called rest defense where player jump on opposing player with ball immediately, so no there's free spaces within the lines.... This is the reason that poacher strikers are more then full package striker these days...

I will explain it to you: in the individual marking, the marking is also by zones, the difference it is closer and the players giving real combat, and there is always one man behind in case the foward pass one defender. If you watched or ever played football like I did here in Brazil, you would easily see how ridiculous it is, and easy to get the ball freely, with space because it fails all the time. The objective of implementing it by the industry is to make it easier produce more goals and "records"..
@emerson3853 i also play football and it si my experience... Man marking system can easily turn into disaster .. specially if opponent have good chemistry and control.... Our local team uses to manmark high up the pitch.... We uses to dominate but whenever we met teams with better control over ball we got exposed...... As playing as full back or centerback sometimes, i personally experienced that we can defend better if we defended zones instead of defending the man... Cz man gonna attack the space in the zone... Hes gonna get there by just one clever turn... But if we mark zone .. then it not just becomes harder to get dribbled, but forward passing lanes also get blocked automatically... This is specially true when we used to have the ball... If we are attacking deep in opponent half.... We can just defend the most vulnerable space behind .. so other then 2 or 3 players all other players can aggressively attack... If we lose the ball... We carefully slow down the transition.. till all zones get filled back... People hate total football saying it makes football boring... Players become systematic.... Bro positional play is supposed to give players maximum space and time so they can use they creative best while being statistically favourably 1v1 instead of 1 vs 2 or multiple defenders... Manmarking was left almost obsolete not because they wanted more goals .... Only because zonal marking teams began to destroy man marking teams and dominanted like never before
