@Izaak Cabacungan I wont deny that the Metaverse and TV World are very similar so I won't deny they could use their Persona's and its possible maybe Yu might realize things are different like Joker did but at the same time, The IT wouldn't have any reason to know exactly whats happening or whats the cause. They'd have less then a day to realize something's wrong, find out its coming from Shibuya, find out its from Maruki's palace, infiltrate the palace, and then fight and defeat him. If they can't do that in that one day, Maruki would fully merge the worlds and as Lavenza said, it would be near impossible to stop him at that point. This is all would especially be hard because considering P5 takes place several years later, the IT likely wouldn't be anywhere near as strong as when they fought Izanami because they hadn't fought for years.
@Izaak Cabacungan That is a fair point that they'd get a bit refreshed thanks to getting the palace to wear off the rust but there is still one big problem mainly being if they had to fight through the palace they'd likely be incredibly exhausted by the time they reached Maruki. This is especially true because while the IT are experienced, palaces are still super different then anywhere they been in the TV world so not only do they not know all the mechanics of it but they're also not a very stealthy group so by having to get through the palace AND fight Maruki they have even more of a disadvantage then the thieves because they'd be exhausted. Ngl the second form was one of the easiest fights in the game although after the last phase, I’m definitely not complaining. Overall this is the best boss fight in the game
I'll have to disagree with you, I think the music and fight is not really fitting of a final boss. Maruki's fight (before the glorified cutscene part) is just based on chain attacks and that's it, you literally cannot fail unless you do it on purpose, it's way too damn easy. Yalbadaoth had a stronger more menacing music and was a bit more of a challenge (as he should be since he's a god). And finally, this fight doesn't have the powerful feeling Satanael's summoning gave to the fight against the god of control... Overall, not a bad fight, just not as good as all the creshendo from the Holy Grail to Yalbadaoth.
@@yaldabaoth4807 The music is not fitting for a final boss but it IS fitting for Marukis character imo. Throw away your mask is basically Maruki persuading the thieves to give up and enjoy his reality. Also the first phase was easy for me, second phase was bit of a challenge, third I almost died once, and the fourth phase with Adom is literally impossible to die on.
Yeah lots of people dont like that about it but for me I'm kinda more into games like this for the story, more than the gameplay (i love the gameplay though lol)
Even after most of us wanted a happy ending like in the original Persona 5, Maruki's last line to the Joker encloses the result of the catharsis in which everything you carried just went away. "If you find yourself struggling in life... you can start over, like me." Gosh... what an indulgent moment. I'm so grateful that this piece of art exists. I do think this game is a therapeutic experience and I'm glad it has a large fan community. Phantom Thieves exist while we follow their example. Hugs to all of you Phantom Legacy.
Maruki had the right idea, though. Yes, overcoming hardships makes people stronger, but some people legitimately do not have the strength to carry on. Maruki could keep his secondary reality, but just let the original exist as normal. His Palace could just be the gateway to his reality, an escape for those who don't have the strength. After having lost my special someone indirectly to Covid almost a year ago, I'd gladly take that escape if it meant I could see her again. On another note, I like how some people have headcanoned that, in the aftermath of 5R, Maruki did get Rumi back. The best thing is that nothing can really contradict this. With Azathoth gone, all the changes he made went with him, which meant Rumi would be back to her original self. I imagine that once she was emotionally stable again, she likely contacted Maruki to make sure he was alright.
Still miffed by Azathoth, since in Lovecraft lore he's the father of Nyarlathotep and several other beings, and despite Nyarly being the big bad of the first two Persona games, here Azzy is just a rogue Persona. Not the first time something like that happens (the Persona 4 Arena comes to mind), but i still think it kinda sucks. At least they brought back Adam Kadmon, who's only other appearance was on the Japanese Xbox only Shin Megani Tensei NINE.
Azathtoth is oblivious of the reality he created, since Maruki wishes to make a world were everyone is unware of tragedy and oblivious to death, its realy fitting. And for what its worth Maruki essentialy becomes Nyarlethotep, he almost becomes a god and even looks pharaoh like when in battle
I do find it interesting that his persona has kinda gone rampant to a degree though - But i wonder if that's simply because he let his ideals consume him? Like Joker and co. Worked towards what they believe so the persona's changed in response to them - But Maruki seems to have changed in response to his persona, so i wonder if that's any indication as to why its so... weird?
@@brimstonesulfur5013 I would say that he did succeed in becoming a God, but Jokers rebellion was too strong, and same with Akechi's. He just made the mistake of bringing back Futaba's mom, which triggered Akechi, and Joker. He very much was probably the most powerful, or second my most powerful boss in Persona, in his reality Nyx would be so utterly weak that it isn't even funny, and not even Philemon is present if I recall.
Story-wise: Absolutely phenomenal!! Gameplay at the very end: Kinda lacking... I was kinda hoping for a Satanael Reappearance to finish this one last job, or have JOKER fuse with Satanael like how Maruki fused with Adam Kadmon. Am I asking too much? Overall though Im SUPER satisfied with the ending either way!! Story outweighs the gameplay on this ending.
Glad they didn’t as it he would’ve been a bit over played and thematically inconsistent. Maruki is simple man, not a misbehaving god. Besides, the one on one fist fight more the than makes up for it.

@@destroyerblackdragon it was a god behind the events of the first game but you don't fight him, however, that god is also behind the events of the 2 duology and you do get to fight him there

Well it might be, Kandori also let himself be controlled by his persona for the sake of power, it's cool to see this kind of stuff happening in modern persona games as well I missed it
I'm glad this boss sequence was all in at the first fight. Everything else was just surviving. Started realizing it around Adam Kadmon glow up that I could actually breath. If they made every single one of those encounters including the manly slugfest a full fight, that would have been a real drag.

The emotion for these final battles drives it to heights thats whats persona is about 💟
Even after most of us wanted a happy ending like in the original Persona 5, Maruki's last line to the Joker encloses the result of the catharsis in which everything you carried just went away.
I imagine that once she was emotionally stable again, she likely contacted Maruki to make sure he was alright.

wait wrong game
Man when joker said begone I was almost dead but now hearing checkmate I am dead
Joker and Maruki just hitting each other kinda reminds me of Yosuke's social link when he asks Yu to hit him
Still miffed by Azathoth, since in Lovecraft lore he's the father of Nyarlathotep and several other beings, and despite Nyarly being the big bad of the first two Persona games, here Azzy is just a rogue Persona.
Not the first time something like that happens (the Persona 4 Arena comes to mind), but i still think it kinda sucks. At least they brought back Adam Kadmon, who's only other appearance was on the Japanese Xbox only Shin Megani Tensei NINE.
still thematically fitting imo
isn't Azathoth's whole gist that he's where everything in reality begins and ends?
Azathtoth is oblivious of the reality he created, since Maruki wishes to make a world were everyone is unware of tragedy and oblivious to death, its realy fitting. And for what its worth Maruki essentialy becomes Nyarlethotep, he almost becomes a god and even looks pharaoh like when in battle
I do find it interesting that his persona has kinda gone rampant to a degree though - But i wonder if that's simply because he let his ideals consume him? Like Joker and co. Worked towards what they believe so the persona's changed in response to them - But Maruki seems to have changed in response to his persona, so i wonder if that's any indication as to why its so... weird?
I was wondering why those tentacles were giving me nyarlathotep vibes then he reveals his persona and it just clicks.
The power of friendship always gets me.
Unpopular opinion but I don’t like satanael that much
It's like asmr
Gameplay was actually cool with exploiting weakness and baton passes. And also not Satanael, Raoul would be the one.
I see what your saying but at the same time how would joker be able to summon Satanael, he only summons it in the original with the public’s support
Glad they didn’t as it he would’ve been a bit over played and thematically inconsistent. Maruki is simple man, not a misbehaving god. Besides, the one on one fist fight more the than makes up for it.
I was wondering why the voice was familiar Dr. Maruki's Voice Actor Billy Kametz also voices Naofumi Iwatani(Tate no Yuusha no Nariagari) and (I remember correctly) Josuke Higashikata(JJBA)
Adam Kadmon looks like a Terminator in armor
Terminator over heaven
I like how even tho the finale boss in Persona 5 was god and in P5R it's a human, P5R's finale boss is way better in everyway
Cuz it's not a godly being that looks down on humans and is some human who just wants to help but in a big forceful way?
It usually is a god behind everything in Persona games. Atleast for the last 3 that is. It always starts off as some douchebag kicking off the plot only to reveal some god was the whole reason for it all.
To be fair this guy kinda becomes a god doesn't he?
@@destroyerblackdragon it was a god behind the events of the first game but you don't fight him, however, that god is also behind the events of the 2 duology and you do get to fight him there

Bruv just get insta-heal
It was so annoying I had a round where my entire team was paralysed with fear.
and then there's that insta death skill
*laughs in Amrita Shower*
The first time I played this I swore this part was gonna play out in a similar aspect to Persona 3 where the persona 5 main character was about to sacrifice himself for his pals… I know maybe it sounds silly in hind site but with how the whole game played out and how that scene played out, it was an in the moment thing
So basically: azathoth is p1 thanatos while adam kadmon is god kandori
Is it intentional, atlus?
More like Azathoth is P1 Nyarlathotep. You're right about Adam though.
Well it might be, Kandori also let himself be controlled by his persona for the sake of power, it's cool to see this kind of stuff happening in modern persona games as well I missed it
52:41 "CHRIIIIIIIIIIIISSSSSSSS!!!"
Blitzeo Arts lol I thought the same thing
Maruki with Azathoth: Please reconsider, I don’t want to hurt you!
Maruki with Adam Kadmon: *doom music starts to play*
In the memory of Billy Kametz
I'm glad this boss sequence was all in at the first fight. Everything else was just surviving. Started realizing it around Adam Kadmon glow up that I could actually breath. If they made every single one of those encounters including the manly slugfest a full fight, that would have been a real drag.
Umm, Dr. Maruki. Elton John, just called, he wants his outfit back. ;)
Imagine that final shot was a little off, either missing Maruki entirely or killing him

The Phantom Thieves. A group of teenagers but pretty intimidating when you put into mind these “kids” took down a olympic athlete corrupting a school, a whole art money scandal, a mob boss, a corrupt lawyer, The CEO of a corrupt organization, the to be prime minister, and a personification of a god, and traversed the entirety of the cognitive underground, now you Maruki stand here with knowledge of the cognitive world in hopes of beating this team of Tricksters. Anyone else think Adam Kadmon looks like an Ultraman?
I’m kinda surprised you didn’t make use of Haru’s life wall skill. It costs zero sp if you do a full baton pass. And the attacks Maruki sends at you gets reflected and deals good damage to Azatoth. But you’re still impressive though!
Doesn't Maruki usually do almighty attacks with only one bless and physical

It radiates the same aura as Nyx Avatar!
Very yin and yang if you ask me. Nyx the power to kill/destroy and Adam Kadmon the power to create/Alter. Both have the powers to end life.
@@anonymousgeek8633 well. This guy is more powerful than Nyx, and "the will to die."
He likely revived Minato (because he didnt sent hardships and stuff like that, and the p3 group was basically devastated when Door-kun died.) And either defeated Nyx, killed Nyx, or sealed Nyx with a fraction of his power. He had complete domain, and mastery over reality, and people, more absolutely than Yaldabaoth did.
@@KraNisOG And Maruki did all that with Azathoth. Imagine what he is capable of now that Azathoth evolved to Adam Kadmon.
@@KraNisOG I wouldn't say that. Since don't forget all Shadows/Personas come from Nyx, including Adam Kadmon/Azathoth. There are no Persona stronger than Nyx because they originally are apart of her psyche. What's far more likely to have happen is that The events of Persona 3 simply never happened, if people never wished for the fall, Nyx never awakens amd Erebus is never formed.
@@thatoneguyintheback5095 as described in game he has the ABSOLUTE ability to rewrite reality to his will, and does so.
