- This morning hunt from our 2021 November duck hunting season was one I had been looking forward to! Drew had scouted this spot a couple times before season and seen a good mix of mallards, black ducks, woodies, and teal so our hopes were high going in. We took the kayaks back to a hole in the willows and come first light we were covered up in ducks. The morning had some lulls but the action was fast when it came and we ended with mixed bag limits. Ducks will eat American lotus seeds. Also known as duck acorns. Its a nice native plant, but it can create heavy monotypic stands which isn't really ideal. That hole looks nice and appears to have a decent mix of other vegetation. Cool hunt!
I appreciate the info! It definitely has crowded out some other moist soil plants in this spot but lucky there's still some solid patches of smartweed and lots of duckweed which seems to be able to grow even in the areas that the American lotus is thick

It's funny cause when I shoot woodies by me half of them have like 5-7 Acorns shoved in their lol how they fit all those in their is crazy. Good video

@@HokeOutdoors I didn't hunt at all Thomas. Our boat hide blind got washed away in one of those coastal storms. So between other coastal storms, other bad weather and the death of a very close family member we've been rebuilding the blind. It'll be a much more comfortable hunt in this blind if we can make it happen. I'll pm you some pics on Facebook.

@@HokeOutdoors It's been pretty tough lately. Just had a lot of snow move in and all lakes are almost froze up. Time to get to the rivers for some mallards!!

It is pretty surprising how much it can change with just a few hundred miles. How was your first split down in SC??
@@HokeOutdoors rough for me but only hunted a few days due to work, we have a huge lack of water down here right now. Hopefully 2nd split is a little better and the weather stays cold

We had out 11 floaters plus the two rippler butts, only think I would’ve added was a spinner for the teal

@@shaynezasimowich2394 wow, very different mallard and wood duck limits then in pacific flyway. In Washington, we can shoot 7 ducks a day- no more than 2 hen mallards, but could be all mallards. No limit on woodies
