had mine 18 months now and I've done 10,000 kms (share my mileage with a DR650 also). I find this bike probably suits me better than anything else I've owned since returning to riding 11 years ago. BMW always impress with the quality of seat foam. It's very comfortable and I'm talking 600km days. Fuel consumption is the best of all my bikes at 4litres/100km (70 mpg imperial) cruising. No superbike but 0-160 in 8 seconds and 11.4 quarter miles is very adequate and acceleration and response great
I purchased one of these secondand with 44,000 kilometres on it just under two years ago. It now has just over 99,000 kilometres on it. So far, minus needing to replace the usual things such as tyres, brake pads, chain and sprockets etc. It's been super reliable. I ride 29,000÷ kilometres a year just riding to work and home again. Roughly 4.8ish litres per 100 kilometres, I do mostly highway kilometres, with a fair whack of city riding as well. I'll probably keep it until it either dies on me or I'll buy a new bike in 5 or so years time.
I seen one yesterday for the first time and had to look it up. Sweetest looking lines on a bmw so far
Did you buy it?
sounds great, German flair from the exhaust, looks futuristic in a naked way.
I recognize those streets! Summers spent jumping out of planes, landing in fields fending off cows with a pilot chute. Happy days.
It works like an standard tank. The only difference is that the position changed. You dont need to remove the seat. The main advantage is (for me) that is not need to remove a tank-bag while refilling.
Good video and scenery too. I'm leaning to this over a used R1200R.
Me too. Did you get one?
I ride the same bike. Verry fuel efficient. I currently drove 500 km and the averrage is currently at 4.2 liters/100 km. There were mentioned some ABS issues.....Today it was my first day where I tested it on a wet surface.....no probs at all....it works fine...It's my first bike and I felt in love with it when I first saw it 2 month ago for a first test drive. In Germany it's currently the 3rd popular bike...I needed to wait for 2 months for it....now I'm happy that it's mine
@noirjour yes. i saw one of these last week. the rear seat isnt huge but you can take a passenger.
I really like these bikes
you are driving on the wrong side of the road my friend, thats dangerous ;-)
The Street Triple is considerably more powerful, about 105 bhp compared to 78 for the BMW. This affects fuel consumption and insurance so could be a serious consideration for someone who doesn't need the extra power. It may also be worth looking at residual values.
now THAT is a great bike. : )
uh, why would it be considered "stuck-up" to ignore someone who waves at you? maybe the individual is trying to focus on the road and not to be distracted or just uninterested in any confrontation with a stranger.
just because you are feeling happy and want to wave to strangers it does not mean every one must play up to your happiness and wave back or they will be "stuck-up".
no hostility intended in my comment :P
@spaghettikid1 You'll never have as much fun as what you would on a Cub. Only down sides of them are, fuel tank is only about 3L big, so fuel stations dont like it when you pay by card lol other than that, 170-190 mpg, cant go wrong. Oh, there not much good for passing your final test on. If you go in for it on a Cub, they will put you in on an A1 light license (I think its called A1 light) which means you'll be limited to a 125 until 21, then you'll have to retake your test.
what was wrong with the belt drive anyway? the swing arm on the 800s was a thing of beauty too.
@DeBalaguer well in the UK you cant ride a bike under 125cc on a motorway unless you have a full license, which is annoying, as i dont..... but you can drive on every other road on any license =]
i have the same bike and the same helmet :D
it is my first bigger bike and i'am realy happy i bought this one. it's absolutely easy to drive and the quality is perfect
i think it's the most beautiful naked bike available although there are some little details that i didn't like at first
Do u still have it?
cool beans =]
you are officially knighted sir dictionary of motobikes
wow, BMW actually made a bike that looks cool
I love the power of my F800GS, and I also own a Yamaha FZ1, so I know what power is. At low revs the sound is "cartoon motorcycle," (I like it) until I snick it down a couple of gears and blast past you. This bike looks like fun.
Witam co miałeś na myśli
bmw riders we do have a sense of chilled outness about us. But I would say the HD riders who are wierd are the young ones. Old school dudes are very cool.
i love everything but the headlights. i would love to have one.
Fuel tank is under the seat. The aria that would be a fuel tank on a normal bike houses the air filter and electrics
Its amazing!
yep cool bike
So how does it stack up to the street triple?
I`m thinking of getting a new bike and so far I`m considering the Aprilia Shiver, Street Triple and this.
what did you get?
BMW offer Low mid High seats from 785mm to 830 mm seat high.
its in every country they do that, and bmw drivers are usually stuck up because a lot of non-real moto drivers ride that brand of bike
I love my bike, since I bought never had a problem, very pleased with my BMW!!!!
zeca muniz is your bike a new 2015 f800r cause i was thinking about buying one and i was wondering how it fairs as a hooligan bike so does it power wheelie and accelerate well since ive heard alot that it has bad low end
i want a honda cub..... im thinking of getting one as my first bike.... cos im about to start riding..... but cool im liking you =]
ok so nothing a slip on exhaust wouldnt fix, but it definitely needs one, other than that the looks are great and i'm sure would be able to keep up with a ducati monster!!! :D
The looks are good, but is the engine the same as the original F800 ,because if it is it is fairly gutless and I struggled to keep up my bike pals ,it felt like it would break if I did so had to back off....Similarly the GS800 love the looks ,weight handling etc but that engine!! Has any one else felt the same? Initially really good but soon becomming limited.
0:34, there's a bit of road loving there. Ouch. Not a bad looking bike, needs a better can though.
would like to see a couple more turns, otherwise, great vid!
As Plato said (the greek not Jason): "Beauty is known solely to those that have neared knowledge and are themselves blessed by her.."
If you think the Monster 1100 S in pearl white, with Termis, is ugly and the Street Triple isn't, well... I mercifully respect your opinion...
I would've like to heard the engine note more clearly without the overlapping music
is the so called tank (between the legs) metallic? can a tankbag equipped with magnetic straps be attached to it?
@HazeGreyAndUnderway go check out the rockster
@DeBalaguer i was just driving one earlier this month on a holiday to asia, it was in luang prabang in Laos =] really fun but scary driving a bike for the third time with my dad on the back and on mountain roads in monsoon rain with many other motorbikes around =[ scary but fun, and probably a useful experience as i wont experience anything like that in england, hopefully =]
it is original, that is all standard parts on the bike and nothing will have been swapped
I say get one used and with lower power. New bikes are made all the time, and when you'll be allowed to ride a more powerful one, you'll get one.
Cheers, stay safe.
not to sound noobish but under what category do bikes like these fall under example u have dirt bikes or touring bikes ?
@alexskylarking yes but I didn't give enough info..is this a good beginner bike for someone who is limited to max 25kw..and thus for someone who has never ever ridden a motorbike before.
The guy indeed says it's good for a first 'big' bike and to improve your skills on so I suppose it's only for the more advanced riders?
holy shit i want one
That's not the problem. I think the problem is the exhaust. A stronger, deeper note seems more appropriate.
BMW, first compandy to produce ABS as standard for 2013
@alexskylarking so if I understand your explanation this bike is perfect for the more advanced persons and I should first learn on a 500 cc bike like they do in the driving schools?
Thanks for all your info
Gutless? It has 87 hp, which is very decent for a 2 cylinder 800cc standard. That's more than enough to keep up with your friends and is right up there with comprable bikes like the Ducati Monster.
Don't be afraid to twist your throttle, these aren't Harleys, they are made to do high RPMs.
so theres a mock tank then?? where there is usually one?
I'm quite the beginner and i cant decide wether i should buy a new F800R or not. I would have to ride it on 24KW due to laws and regulations in my country.
So... rather buy a new f800r or something used with less power?
Is cutting down power even healthy for the engine? from 60-70KW to 24 for 2 WHOLE YEARS???
what did u choose after all ? I'll get my licence soon and i'm very interested with the f800r but i have the same concern u had 4 years ago !
Sounds totally different to what I had imagined.
can someone explain the fuel tank cos how does the filler cap by the seat work??
Well perhaps its delivery just isnt sharp! As for not being afraid to rev a BMW ,when your K1200r has had to have a new engine, plus every thing else ,too right I was afraid , particularly as it wasnt my bike!!
I still love riding the K tho and I do like the looks of the F800 but for me the engine feel ,noise and delivery are disappointing.
did you guys really needa show us 20 clips of you riding up and down the same straight road?
is this a good beginner bike?
I hope MV builds its tri-cylinder Street Triple-beater. Til then:
1. Monster 1100 S
2. Brutale 989
3. Monster 696
4. Z750
5. Street Triple (pitty it's soooo ugly)
6. Gladius
7. Old ER-6n
8. Shiver
9. Mana
10. Hornet
Only if none of the above were available i would buy the, otherwise, apparently very passable F800R
@spaghettikid1 I only know this cause I have one. I dont know anything about any other bikes... Except a Honda CBF 125 and a Honda C90, which I also have (who wouldn't have a Honda Cub?)
too bad they repaced the belt drive for a chain. otherwise great bike
Nothing a slip on can wouldnt fix
whats the price
Wish it was a V-Twin... :/
Why do u keep saying the hornet the bmw is nothing like the hornet completely different bikes
anyone noticed the corrosion?
thats just dirt lol. its 6k standard :P if you want extra's its a bit more painful, iv had a look
I am considering this compared to the k1200r I come from a gsxr. And don't need the speed that much more. Afraid iam gonna kill myself hehe. And this is lighter than the k1200. What you think? :-)
lol the bike had the slide already
Good grief... that bike looks like it went through hell right before the video test. I would have at least carried a rag around and wiped most of the crap off the bike before videoing it!
So now at the gas station I have to fill from a certain side? Nooooooooo
@skbkaz can?
Oo Bmw F800R's eyes xD
This bike looks a bit small. im 6'1 will i be cramped on it ?
Can someone please tell me why anybody would buy this over a Triumph Street Triple R or a Yamaha FZ8? I'm not trying to be a smartass. Just a noob trying to figure out why BMW would price an inferior(in my eyes) bike so much higher than the rest of the competition.
What sensible growth max is for person that no look stupidly on this motrobike?
do i get a prize mcn?
please gimme a prize
ugly headlights. they look good on the GS but not on a streetbike...
@hackneo64
Lucky :)
he speaks like he had mouth full of food
Damnit, speak more clearly please...
Hei rewrite that list the street triple is on top, the Monster is uglier than the st.
1. MV BRUTALE
2. STREET TRIPLE
3. SHIVER
4. HORNET
the rest is for the ladies
sounds week.............
hahahaha....nice scratch
first!
yay
your prize it gtfo...
sounds like a scooter haha
hahahaha this engine has only 87 hp.
And then you call a Yamaha fz6 a beginners bike ???
I drive a Yamaha fz6n myself and it has 98 hp.👍
