Fun story: When I was a kid and I played Adventure Island 3, I had the most amazing thing happen. It never happened again and I have no photos or videos to prove it, but I distinctly remember it, and I can swear in everything I hold dear that it is not a case of the infamous Mandela Effect. I was playing the game on a knockoff console with a pirated cartridge. It was the first time I had reached the second boss. However, for an inexplicable reason, the boss stage was...well, underwater. Higgins was swimming (By the time I had reached the level's end, my dinosaur buddy had died, but I reckon that if I had started the boss stage with it, it would have died instantly) and everything was in blue. Even Higgins himself. The stage had a very creepy look, going from light blue to dark blue, left to right. It looked as if Higgins had jumped into a watery shaft of some kind, in order to fight the plant, and the deeper he went into it, the darker it looked. Because I was unaware of the boss's pattern, I was under the middle flower when it released its petals, killing me. Yes, I got killed by the easiest boss in the game. Feel free to laugh at me. Ha-ha-ha-ha-ha. Okay. Though, if I had actually kept hitting the boss, one of two things would've happened: 1. The boss would flash but not actually take damage. That's actually the reason why I never managed to beat the game on that knockoff console I had. There was a bug (that happened every time) that made the game unpassable. The penultimate boss, the moth, was invincible. It flashed when I hit it, but it never changed color. You could keep hammering for a good 20 minutes and it would just flash and make the sound, but nothing more than that. If you can't it, you can't progress, and there's no option to skip the boss with the giant pterodactyl. 2. I reckon that the stage was all blue because the starting color of the flower was...well, blue. If I had kept damaging the boss and it DID take damage and change color, the color would most likely turn into red. Yes, the whole stage would be in red. Just imagine that for a split second. The second boss level, underwater, with a red tint, looking like you're swimming in blood. That would've been SCARY, even if I had managed to defeat the boss. Not that it wasn't scary as it was. The next day, in daycare, I was almost catatonic. And, to make matters worse, our bathroom had blue tiles and a tub in front of the door, with one corner looking slightly darker, because that's where the shower curtain was. Thankfully, we actually moved a couple years from then, because I was always scared to take a bath in there, even with my parents' supervision. I even had nightmares about being older and taking a bath in there, with the plant spontaneously appearing above my head and knocking out the lights, with the boss theme playing as it wraps its vines around me and opens its jaws to devour me. This game's bosses have scared me more than stuff I've seen in horror movies. There's something extra creepy about things that are for kids and are not meant to be frightening. Everyone who's seen the "Snow White And The Seven Dwarfs" (1937) as a kid probably remembered how the spirit of the magic mirror, that theatrical mask face, scared the living hell out of them. I was one of those people. Yeah, when I was a kid, I had a severe case of nyctophobia and was basically scared of my own shadow. A big contrast to now, when strangers clutch their purses in elevators and cross the sidewalks at night because I give off serial killer vibes. Oh, how the turntables...
I always thought the third game's overall difficult level is higher than the second one. Now I see why: Hudson was more creative with the bosses' attack patterns and the layouts of their respective stages. If only they composed a different theme, lol
Not sure about it. I spend way more time beating 2 then I did 3. Though I didn't even know there was 3 until I was 27-28 years old and then played it on an emulator. It didn't take me that long to beat.
@@cristianplaza1466 I think you didn't encounter it because you took a shortcut in one of the levels that allows you to skip that island's boss. I've played Adventure Island 3 today and I got that boss.
Never played this game as a kid unfortunately. Now I did learn about it much later so I did play it on an emulator however for some reason it took me way less time to beat than AV2 probably because I had played AV2 so much when I was a kid it was not that hard also THANK GOD there is an option to skip the ice crab. The octopus in AV2 gave me so many issues I am so happy I didn't have to go through that shit again.
I had nintendo but this game has't in it, so I need to borrow my cousin nintendo to home since his adaptor and stick was broken. I am playing with it almost broken nintendo too. It was my favorite but I never know the end of it since I am only able to finished it after the butterfly boss which is the volcano. Ahahaha, it was a great memmories

So there was a glitch in the second boss? Swimming would make it a lot harder indeed
Rom Hack maybe?

The colorful graphics for for this game aged well, and even rival _Super Mario Bros 3!_
All the boss Ideas came with a fire lizard 🔥

If only they composed a different theme, lol
Actually the second was inferior. The final boss is a freaking *FLY,* inside of a dinosaur's stomach! 3 had the better final villain: Aliens!
Edward Gaines it was Belzebub. But yeah, the aliens were better.
theme is perfectly fit with tense of fights no need to change it

@@endefisto123 are you played it on Android phone?
damn. i didnt know the skeletor boss had that blindspot. Would have made my life a lot easier if i had known.
Skeletor and ice crab were the toughest bosses of them all for me
I think the ufo is the tuffest
in my case, skeletor and croco fish, then, when I practiced the video game I already beat Croco swimming and Skeletor with the pterodactyl
For me adventure island 2 and 3 are better than any of the futer adventure island games. Dinosaur concept is simply and the best.
Ypu ve noticed Hudson got a mania with placing sea creatures as bosses in sea stages?? A octopus in AI 2 and a crab in AI 3.
The boss theme is cool
It's the same as 2.
Man i wish they would come out with a collection for this series,I absolutely loved these games

bruuhh I remember the Croco fish boss giving me so may nightmares I was terrified of that boss XD
NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
Of all skull boss so badass i literally took shortcut every time to avoid that boss in childhood .
I don’t remember that boss.where you confront him?
@@cristianplaza1466 I think he means the fifth boss, Skeletor, that appears in this video at 03:04
@@mikejunior3076 yeah I know but this boss is ion asecret stage because I never encounter it
