Beautiful building and nice outside seating. The food looked good but it did seem like a lot of up charges. I like when a restaurant will list the prices and not do the up charges. That’s just my preference on a menu. Excellent review!
@vafunseekers Yes, I agree. I want a menu to show everything. I think the $3.50 upcharge for the ribs and brisket was on the menu, under the "Mr Jim's Combo Plate" section. I did think that was a bit of a steep upcharge, but I knew when I ordered both of them together, that I was going to pay that. Those are just my two favorite items to get at a BBQ place. I will say the food was really good, and it was an overall great experience. To avoid the upcharge, I might get pulled pork and the sausage next time. Neither one of those are extra. Or, I might go ahead and get the ribs and just pay one upcharge, and get something else that isn't extra with it. But I definitely want to go back. By the way, congratulations on the 10,000 subscribers. We had actually just come out of this restaurant from eating, when we discovered that y'all were on live. That's what I made a comment.
@ I’ve been to plenty places that do the up charge and it’s on the menu. I just sometimes find it actually comical because everything but one or two items will be an up charge. I’m not even disagreeing with the price, I ‘d just rather see the actual price on the menu. A seafood restaurant we went to did a combination plate and once you chose your actual entrees it was quite a bit higher than the base price and only one item was at the base price. I know that you know all that goes into making it to 10K. Glad you were able to come in last night to the Live. Hope y’all have a great weekend.

Since you're going to Highlands, you might want to check out our video from last year's tree lighting in Highlands, which will be released on the 25th. It is called "Blue Ridge Mountain Christmas". I’m glad you ate there. When you went to Sonny’s in concord NC there’s a Jim n Nicks across the street, across Bruton smith blvd. We eat there every 2 weeks. My wife gets the potato. It’s the largest potato you’ve ever seen. They actually put 2 potatoes together and fill it with pulled pork bbq and cheese. She can’t eat but half of it so she has the rest for breakfast next day. Those cheese muffins are delicious. Everything is good except the chicken. We don’t like the chicken at all. Turkey is great and sometimes they’re out of it. I get their sweet tea, it’s very good.
We saw when we looked up the locations, that there was one in Concord. We didn't realize it was so close to Sonny's. I enjoyed the peach tea, as far as flavor. It was just tough getting those bits of peaches up through the straw sometimes. We really, really enjoyed the food, although I will get another side besides the beans, next time. I will have to tell my wife about the pulled pork potato. She likes to get that sometimes at BBQ places...especially Corky's in Pigeon Forge. They have a really huge one like that, as well.
@footprintsinthepines8004 Oh, wow. That's neat. We were just in your neck of the woods last week. Were y'all just passing through, or were you here for a couple of days?

Love y’all’s channel. The wife and I were there last night as well. One thing to dispute not all South Carolina barbecue is mustard based. I was born and raised in SC and I grew up eating vinegar based barbecue. I’ve encountered the mustard based around the Columbia area. Either way I got the pulled pork with the vinegar sauce and the wife got the Carolina style pulled pork. The macaroni and cheese was amazing but not crazy about the baked beans. Love y’all’s food reviews.
Thank you so much for watching and for your kind words. Yes, I'm sure that South Carolina is probably split into different types, like North Carolina is. Where I first encountered the mustard-based in South Carolina, was around Columbia. It was a chain called Maurice's.

I went to Chili's a couple weeks ago. The Smasher burger is really good but their fries were excellent. But the showstopper were the Nashville hot cheese sticks. Not all that spicy but very flavorful and that breading is so crunchy. I have always liked Chili's so not sure why they didn't do well in my area. They had the best bleu cheese burger.
