    Thank you for touching on not worrying about the grade level! I have been stuck on trying to get my daughter caught up for such a long time. Some areas she's stronger in than others.

      You're welcome! Of course, there are exceptions to that "rule" but in general, it doesn't make a huge difference. Don't worry!

    This video has truly helped me . I really struggled with being afraid to buy curriculum that was lower grade then what my son is in. Thank you ! Wonderful video.

    Looking forward to the Evan Moor flip through! I have a Evan Moor loving child. I am so glad you found a way to use it in the 8th grade because my child will be heartbroken after grade 6.

    I would love to see a flip through of the ACE science! I was homeschooled growing up and that was all we used as far as curriculum goes(I was homeschooled in the 90’s and early 2000’s..awhile ago 😂)..but it looks like they have changed big time from the glimpse I saw!

    I'd love a flip through of Daily Skill Builders spelling and vocabulary. I can't find a word list anywhere to know where to place my child as far as levels go. I use many of the same brands of curriculum as you, so I'm always interested in what you're using☺

    Yes! Please do a video on the ACE Science curriculum. My daughter is going into 8th next year, and we have had a hard time finding a Science curriculum that we liked.

    I also think it’s important for us to study our own country’s history. I don’t understand why, as Americans, we look down upon that. Every other country studies their own history first and as the most important. In fact, most countries barely study American history - I mean, can you see China or North Korea or Iran or Russia studying American history in depth??? No. We don’t need to look down on ourselves for doing that - how else will we learn from past mistakes and move forward?!?
    I’m really interested in looking into the Critical Thinking LA books that you showed. We really enjoy the Critical Thinking company!

    Thanks for the video, I’m surprised you stepped away from BJU English and Science, I decided to try Evan Moor GP and separate writing program. Any particular reason why? especially after your promoting it for years and using it with your oldest daughter.

    • @aplacetonest
      @aplacetonest  Рік тому +2

      My oldest never used BJU Press for english or science. She did use it for history, but she used Apologia for science and TGATB for high school english. Our youngest did use BJU Press for english and science and we did love it! The main reason why boils down to independence. I'm trying to "work myself out of a job" and have my daughter do more work independently and BJU Press, while incredible, doesn't really lend to that unless you do their online courses. I still highly recommend it to younger ages or parents who still want/need to teach a lesson each day. I hope that helps!

    What level of teaching textbooks are you doing with your daughter for 8th? I am homeschooling my children again after having to put them into public school for 3 years! I was going to do Math Mammoth - but I think TT might be just as effective. My oldest will be doing TT 6 along with Life of Fred... Do you think TT is a fit for a "mathy" post secondary degree?

  • @svetiksky7553

    Hello Becky. Thank you for the video. I have a question. For the BJU press history curriculum you have only 2 books, is it student textbook and activities? I just don’t want to buy teacher textbook, is it possible?

    I just absolutely love your videos. Is there a specific thing that your daughter uses for literature? My middle son does not love language arts and we have tried quite a few curriculums, trying to find one he despises the least.

    This is a huge help! I’ll be looking into each of these resources, since I’m planning to branch out from the good and the beautiful. I’m so glad to see someone else who uses resources from various grade levels. That’s always stressed me out a little but we started homeschooling halfway through middle school and it’s been a challenge to find the right level for each subject 😂 Thank you for sharing!
