@Carlton Carter On a (probably too) serious note, that's what happened in a former relationship. In the beginning, I was very vocal (I felt) whenever I felt I wasn't being treated right. If a 'friend' of my ex's made a joke about me being an ugly whore, or shoved me on the floor, I'd get upset and demand an apology. My ex told me that their behaviour was normal and that I was being a dramaqueen. It was just 'the boys being boys.' And because I wanted to be accepted into the group of friends, I accepted that and kept my mouth shut for the next 4,5 years, whenever I was being called degrading names, pushed or touched. I'm not going to tell you how this ended, but I can tell you it was quite gruesome. Turns out that if your ex's friends have ignored your wishes for years, it's even easier for them to ignore your wishes when drunk. Ofcourse my ex said that all of this was normal drunk behaviour and that maybe I should've called for help a little louder. He vaguely remembered hearing me cry in the livingroom, and so "I couldn't blame him for not helping me. I should've been more vocal." So now, I'm very vocal and I don't care how much people think I overreact. People that think I overreact and are unwilling to respect my boundaries, are not people I want to be around.

It's also a matter of picking the right place and time and knowing when to walk off (a.k.a. don't blow up in someone's face over a very small incident that was unintentional ánd unimportant for me as well.) But I recently stood my ground when someone shortened an important deadline from 3 days to 2 hours. I kept calm, refused to give in and one hour later (with the risk of only having one hour worktime left on the project) they saw I was serious and said they understood. The project became a huge success and it even got a headline in a big newspaper (it was a painted violin for a famous musician, the newspaper printed the pictures of the violin and covered the story.) I mean, she’s right, I mean for what happens in the real world, some parents don’t do hardly anything to prevent their children from becoming murderers, I mean my cousin was in high school and her school got shot up and it made the front page of The Denver Post, it’s a horrifying feeling that no parent should have to go through. But Sharon is right, although schools have been closed down this year, school need to take better action to prevent stuff like this.

This episode really just mirrored how it feels in real life. The tragedy of school shopping’s happening so often is that they’re “normal” and people no longer care and precautions aren’t being taken. And Sharon, the only sane one in the town gets convinced it’s not a big deal, even when her biggest fear, her kid getting hurt, happens. A beautiful episode altogether really.
I feel really bad for Sharon, she's the only one to take this seriously while everyone else just doesn't care. Hell, people even think she's just on her period for still seeing School shootings as something to worry about.
All the other shit she's done and overlooked? I can't. She sent her son to a concentration camp for intolerance and gave him chickenpox and along with the rest of the town at one poi t kicked out all the children in town because of child abductions
