I have figured out why Dream took off his armor while following Cpt. Puffy...
It’s because Dream wanted to show respect, and by taking off his armor it is showing Puffy that he had no intentions on bringing harm to her. Like wolves Dream is showing submission to Puffy, wolves will commonly lie on their back or raise their head to expose their throat to show submission to the dominant wolf because those spots are sensitive.
