That is exactly how I was thinking of building flat roof carport. Have a 18.6 wide driveway, so was going to do a 20' x 30' Carport. Using 3 1/2 by 1/2 wall drilling pipe, 4/poles @ 10" ctr's, on each side and doubling the 6" C Purlins at the poles ( one on each side kinda like a I beam) with one in the middle span of each pole set so I could walk on the roof if needed. Something like Receiver channel or 10" C Purlin for 3 sides, that way it will look flat but I can build a small slope for rain off the back side. Will have 6" panels on the long sides for Sun block. And all welded together. You did a great job with yours, we are up to deciding paint colors now, will start soon.

Looks good. I been debating on what size to build so I can store my 2 trucks, trailer and tractor. I was thinking on a 20x30 using 6" purlin but due to max span of 18 means I would need 6 poles versus 4.

Can you elaborate on the size and thickness of the purlins ( c channel) used ? What is the span you are overcoming ( width ) and also what pitch have you used on the roof ? What is the clearance on the highest and lowest points in the roof ? Finally can you let me know what kind of metal paint you used ? ( the black one ) . You built the carport that I have drawn out on paper , I have a 28' width to overcome and by the looks of it you are in the same size range ? Thanks in advance for any info you can pass along.

They are 2x8” 14guage 25’ C receivers and C purlins. The purlins are probably spaces 4-5 feet apart in the receivers. All bolted together with 1/2” thick bolts. Long ones for going into the posts 5” and 1/2” for receiver to purlin.
The description says their diagonals are both 30’ so you can calculate the sides.

Hey man I got a question about the carport how exactly do you go about to apply for a permit to be able to build the structure?
