프로 가수들 앞에서 당당하게 노래 부르는 자세가 멋있다.
보통 원곡의 노래의 멜로디가 익숙해서 다른 장르로 편곡하면 어색해지는데.. 이분은 그런 느낌이 없다. 정말 잘 부르시네
가수라도 극찬할텐데 일반인이 이정도면 어쩔 ㅠㅠㅠ 감동이다 정말

No he's not. You have no clue about the Korean voices. Stop diminishing Korean singers by always saying it's a song that's R&B or Soul. This is Korean voices that's been around for centuries with deep soul. Korean traditions, and songs from past have deep feelings from the soul. Some of you ignorant Westerners who don't know anything about the deep history of Korea always want to give credit to Western singers whenever you hear something that maybe reminiscent of a Western artist voice. Korean tune, music, rhythm and beats going back hundreds of years have always had "Soul" in their vocals that come from deep pain, trials and hardships that Korea has had to endure throughout history due to all the foregin invasion. Some of you need to just stop with this nonsense whenever you hear a Korean voice and start saying things like "oh he's copying R&B" or "oh it sounds like Pop," etc, etc. Just because a Korean man has his own so called "soul" like voice doesn't mean it's African American. This type of deep raspy voice among Korean singers has been around forever, long before any "Soul & R&B."

If we're talking about the modern iteration of that expression, then It's found in Korean Ballads and the style of singing in it. But that's not how this guy is singing it. Supposed what you say about the Korean melancholy influencing how Korean singers sound, then sure, I hear it. One can rarely sing with soul like this guy without having cultural/community/generational trauma. The thing is, many among RnB singers were also traumatized and were living in pain.
Continuing on the influence of RnB on this guy, I still believe it. Long and high sustained notes, and stable vibrato, those are the signature patterns in Korean Ballads singing. This guy's singing on the other hand, is improvised-like, which is a signature of Blues, which is another influence of RnB. His vibrato is also wide, emotional, but unsustained. That's commonly found in Soul: another style that inspired RnB.
Hell, his singing practically similar to John Legend's and you're denying that he wasn't influenced by 90s RnB? Are you deaf? I know you're not.
I don't hear other Korean influences in him like Lee Moon Sae, Jo sung mo, Lee Sung Chul, or Lee Sun Hee.
Stop projecting your sh*t. It's the time of globalization of music. It's not unusual to find korean singers being influenced by music from other cultures.
If the guy sounded like Park Hyo Shin, and I made the same comment 6 years ago, then you have the right to correct me.
