In district Okara, Pakpattan, and for similar agro-climatic zones; T3, T5, T6 give maximum production while sowing during first two weeks of May. Last year just for experiment, we sowed TIL on 25th June after harvesting of Maize, but it was complete failure. Pest attack was very high, and very few number of flowers could convert into capsules and yield was less than 2 maunds per acre in comparison of 13 manunds per acre of the crop sown in early May. Punjab government should revise sesame crop technology with respect to the sowing dates of different regions in line with the farmers experience of those regions.
@@khalidwattoo3479But in case of sowing in first or second week of May the crop will be ready for harvest in August, when the moon soon will be on its peak... shouldn't we delay sowing till the first week of June?
For improving germination, Plough field in the evening/night (jab ronit watar aa jahay), then keep it open whole night, and early in the morning give chatta and sohaga before sun rise. Ploughing and Chatta in hot dayt/heat decreases germination. To improve germination, use 2 Kilogram per acre seed for branched varieties (like T3 T5), because Til seed size of these are larger than single stem T6 seed. In case of 2 kilogram seed you may need thinning of plants after germination. But spending Rs. 2500-3000 labour charges per acre for thinning is better than having poor germination and less number of plants
