  • We cut open the plenum of the Skunk2 Pro Series Intake Manifold and give us access to porting the runner entry better and also infuse more taper along the runner
    Measuring the runner length and calculating the 3rd harmonic to your benefit on your build and possibly give lotsa good ideas for your project and more
    we talk about the port texture and the solution we did to let us port match better in the future
    we mention the p08/d15b/esi intake manifold we ported and discussed and the video is here
    Also the p73 TypeR intake because both video discussed runner length in relation to harmonics and how we correlate it to the dynosheet of the motor
    the video of that one is here
    After hitting the like button to help the video gain more traction and gets promoted more
    You can check our shop page here for more good stuff and projects we do

    • @SRDmotorsports
      @SRDmotorsports  2 роки тому +1

      @@vince.r yeah but it’s such a waste of time kinda debate….
      It’s like at most 1-3whp difference
      But each manifold can be build with a suitable cam, head and compression to beat the other…
      So it’s such a waste people will choose a “better” one then don’t do the rest that compliments it? Then it’s not better
      Locally it’s prolly as fast as stock lol
      Seen a pm7 pistoned crower cammed skunk2 IM 4door pull 15.4sec hahahahahahaha
      It’s why when local ask me what is better? My answer is always “the one that u can squeeze the best power from”

    • @vince.r
      @vince.r 2 роки тому +2

      @@SRDmotorsports Oh wow. The debates you read sometimes is like you make power with one and you don't with the other lol.
      Also, I added to findtherightbeat's comment that I have a brand new skunk2 intake here in my room, and it doesn't have the horizontal ridges in between the runners. It is much smoother. Could it be a different casting?

    Curious as to what the horizontal ridges right in the middle of the casting in between each runner does

    • @SRDmotorsports
      @SRDmotorsports  2 роки тому +1

      Wait the casting marks u mean? If on the divider then prolly no good as is or unported as it has stark corners as you can see so I tried to round it off
      But couldn’t do it as much unless I’d punch a hole under lol

    • @findtherightbeat
      @findtherightbeat 2 роки тому +1

      @@SRDmotorsports The casting where you placed the wire side of your measuring hose in 3:47 of the video, I'm just curious why Skunk2 casted it that way.

    • @SRDmotorsports
      @SRDmotorsports  2 роки тому +4

      @@findtherightbeat it’s prolly the casting molds I mean yep if that was welded up to allow us to smooth it woulda been better
      That’s also why my skunk2 has been rewelded 3-4times for punching a hole 😅
      But oddly enough the runner length improvement and plenum volume is still enough to significantly outperform the oem
      (Gotta say this for skunk2 but it’s a fact)
      But this shows us that even “aftermarket” can and could improve ftw

    • @SRDmotorsports
      @SRDmotorsports  2 роки тому +2

      I think the casting mold is a “top and bottom” half hence that ridge

    • @SRDmotorsports
      @SRDmotorsports  2 роки тому +3

      Also have a skunk2 ITR style manifold that hopefully the owner sends soon… and cuz I still have all the photos and video of the oem ITR manifold that we ported?
