It turned out great! I really like that you show your errors. It just shows that you are a normal guy like me that makes mistakes. You always recover well from your errors and this demo hammer is a testament to that. The bluing turned out awesome and it inspires me to try some bluing myself.
@@djstoolrestorations i picked up an old Plomb 5249 3/8" drive ratchet today at the flea market for $1.50. Maybe I'll give it a try on that. Where do you get your bluing from?
I was worried you were going to cut into your nice Sterrett vise, and I can tell you are a vise guy. Cold bluing can be tricky. My best friend is a lifelong gunsmith and at any time he has a drawer full of different bluing solutions for different metallurgy. You can also try pre heating the metal as it might help. Cold bluing a polished tool gives a very different look, and is something you might want to try on a nicer tool. Think hi end firearm. Your demolition hatchet turned out nice. I always enjoy your videos.
Thank you, sir, I will try different things like you said, and if I screw up then someone can learn from my mistake!!! I think metals have a different working life, not sure how to explain it, like cutting or welding every piece of metal is different, same way with polishing some metal polishes better than others!!!!!!!!!!

Try the cold bluing you will not be disappointed, some things I blue and somethings I polish, kind of depends on the damage!

@djstoolrestorations I'm with you. If I mess up and someone can learn from it I did my part. We should all be constantly learning.
I know what you're saying about those walls. Did stuff like that at my hospital. Thanks
I think people do not realize how many building materials there are out there!
