I Edited Netflix's Cowboy Bebop Again

- This was the original edit I made that gathered a positive reception and I felt I needed to share it. Netflix's Cowboy Bebop has a lot of problems from an action standpoint, so my goal was to make things flow naturally. To keep it in line more with the anime version.

My Edit 1:00
#cowboybebop #netflix #netflixcowboybebop
Hey everyone! I was away from this account for a while but wow, these two videos have just taken off! Thank you so much for the kind words and I'm happy you all enjoyed it. I'd like to answer a few things real quick:
1. Some people have asked whether I am going to do this for the whole show or maybe just an episode. I have thought about it but that would require me going through the entire series over and over to see what would work. So I'll think about it 😌
2. I am aware the editing is pretty frantic and "Taken" like, so rest assured that I am also not a fan of that style. However, without the original roll, I can't exactly extend moments or use additional takes, haha.
3. I am not trying to say my work is better. I am not a professional editor, I'm just some self taught buffoon but I did want to see an alternate version. One that felt more in tune with the energy from the anime.
Hope that explains a few things! 🥰
Really good use of shaving off frames to focus on the impacts rather than the motions of attack. Really paces it up.
It makes it blah
#hotgarbage ... never shouldve seen the light of day - hopefully Netflix has LEARNED FROM THIS.
@@SuperOmnicronsj44 The One Piece series is still in production, so they haven't.
I heard the show was bad, I didn't think it was this bad. Props to the editing, it was like watching Liam Neeson's fight scenes before and after editing.
Cowboy Bebop show was horrible and deserved the criticism it got so glad they pulled the plug... I only wish they dont do this same dumbs*t with One Piece, but they will unfortunately.
@@SuperOmnicronsj44They didn't
Damn, this isn't Faye at all, she'd completely abandon Spike for the money in a heartbeat not throw it away for a petty murder. Also, great editing because you fixed that problem completely by taking that part out.
But she has to be what Hollywood writers think a badass woman is instead of realizing that she was already kind of a badass.
Lupin the 3rd fujiko mine
Yeah, finishing up my run through the original anime and noticed that Faye was ENTIRELY different. She's actually got depth. Faye is good at conning people but has terrible luck herself. She's highly capable but portrays a very feminine character. Netflix? Geez man, she's a juvenile teen boy who spews dick and balls one-liners.
Try telling that to the actress. She takes no criticism whatsoever
Damn this show was HOT GARBAGE from the start ... fortunately this abomination was pulled. Enjoy the anime.
Good editing. Trimming away frames makes the scene less sloppy and natural. Poor John Cho, i can see the efforts he put for this in order to really look the part. I can almost see Spike on him at times.
John was not young enough for tall enough for this role imho.. a fan favourite, and I luv the guy but
Apparently he researched the Anime for the show and fell in love with it.
So much so he started making complaints whenever he felt the production team was starying too far away from the source material (which must have been numerous and mostly falling on deaf ears).
It kinda hurts to watch him, as you can tell he's trying to give it his all while at the same time knowing the people in charge are screwing things up.
Like making chicken salad out of chicken sh*t. No amount of editing is saving that actress piss poor attitude with attacking the fans. Good riddance!!!!
Really, they shouldn't have tried to force so many martial art scenes. Sure, Spike used it at points (this wasn't even Jeet Kune Doe) but they should have kept it gun play because Spike did that a lot more and honestly wouldn't have to make John Cho do so many martial arts that he clearly wasn't trained for.
Good edit, turned a boring fight scene into something faster and more interesting.
Glad you liked it!
And today we learnt the problem was directing and editing
And acting. And writing.
One thing I could say about Bepop anime is that it sort of reminded me of old jackie chan fight scenes. This reminds me of watching Taken.
That was a great edit! too bad the show has ex-member of a syndicate with a high body count struggling to fight somebody that was just thawed out with no prior combat experience.
Good job. Edit cuts the fluff and gets things going.
So much better
I wish someone could go back and give us a proper Spike vs Asimov fight. But this will have do to
Your edit was so satisfying to watch
Yay :3
Great job on the editing, really, but nothing can save this horrible abomination.
Excellent work with these edited scenes of Live Action Bebop.
Yeah that first version was weird . She pulls out the knife while he's pinned then pushes him out of range to do a spin move? What ??
why was she focused on his knees when trying to stab him? any actual fight I've ever seen you keep your eyes on the target's core even while attacking other targets on their body
Yeah, it's like the creators were more focused on making each individual scene "look cool" instead of actually creating a cohesive and realistic fight. Maybe it would have worked if Faye had been knocked to the ground THEN pulled her knife out and attacked Spike's legs because they were the closest thing in range. But watching her randomly duck down and scoot across the ground for no reason just...makes no sense. Not only because she isn't aiming for Spikes core, but also because she's slowing herself down by dropping to her knees and scooting across the ground...and she's given her knees a nasty case of road-rash for no reason!
omg this is so much better. my biggest issue was the editing on this show & this change sums it up. theres so much wasted time that makes it all feel slow & cheesy. thank you for doing it some justice.
This is the real problem of the series, bad action scene due of bad cut, the editing make this watchable and cool, sure the are many other atrocious mistake but this is a good starting point.
It looks more dinamic, well done!
Glad you think so!
Omfg its all real characters but the moves are so weightless and CG. Props to you my guy
Yeah, I really tried to make them seem a bit more energetic than they initially were :)
I want to make an edited version of the series to see if my theory would hold up you definitely proved there is a chance of improvement
I do genuinely think you could make something fun by keeping it to just the crew. I think their biggest mistake was trying to be a 1:1 recreation.
@@Xanshil yeah definitely, I didn’t honestly think about the fight scenes how clunky they were until you made these lol.
They completely missed the point with Faye
It's like night and day the difference that edit made
I was going to fall asleep watching the first one lol
I LOVE HOW THE FIGHT SCENES DONT EVEN PLAY BEBOP
that's definitely an impressive bow tied around a turd.
nice edit
Edgar Wright should have directed this live action series.
yeah that flows way better
It’s the fact they took an anime and made it unanime…
Why?
Why in God’s name would you change a good thing?!?
Money
Greed and pride
So they can make their own character ?
because """WE""" can make it better :^)
This is perfect to show how slow af the fights are in this show.
If I have edited the show the reaction would be "Isn't this the anime version?" Yep!
the pace is way better in your edit version it feels more natural and less clunky/amateur than the actual version...
I dont know why she took out the knife and doing 360°
É tão ruim que um cara comum consegue fazer melhor, incrível.
I think I noticed too when seeing the show was just how bad the editing is. It is clear to me that they never had someone who was an editor that could do martial art scenes or action scenes. I'm guessing they hired an editor who thought it is easy? It is why I laughed with Iron Fist first season (putting aside the clear ignorance of terms for masters and other cultural elements) because RZA directed episode was the only one that felt like a martial art film in the first season and filmed properly with the fights. One of the best things with the animation is just how well edited the fighting is as well as framed and choreographed, especially with the music.
If only they had someone like you on their team..... It would have still been bad, because you know, everything in this was bad, but at least the fight scenes would have looked much much better
You this without being paid a dime.
I dont get these teams. They are under the care of a billion dollar corporation, given a chance of a lifetime to adapt a CLASSIC...and give not a mediocre product but genuine garbash plenty high schoolers could outcompete.
How, but most importantly...why
i didnt want to watch this show because i knew it was gunna be shit but holy fuck. the fight choreography is so slow. and they didnt give him a p99 pistol like he had in the show. like thats not hard
Cool!
spike fard
Nicely done 👍
yesss
Good job. I wonder why creators decided to film/edit this fight in so narrow frame and add lot of cuts, why not old school 1 shot in wide angle like Jackie Chan movies... oh, right, you gotta prep choreografy and train actors...
If only Andrew Koji became Spike.
Adios cowboy...
whats is this blade runner sax thing they did at the end
the only bad thing about the show is that shallow Julia character
0:38 well done cutting this out, by far the worst pause of the fight, he looks so limp wristed like he shouldn't be able to take her at all, that and dumb dialogue which is needless
Do one with Ed edd n eddy sfx
What's the song at the end?
Cowboy isn't ment to be a live action
Really great edit your version was way better than the original. But unfortunately not even your impressive editing skills can save this garbage of a show
Much better. Can't fix the the aweful choreography, though. It's the best that could be done, I think!
bruh
Cambian muuuchooo, buenos cortes
you improved the scene, the original editing of Live Action Serie is lousy even substandard...
power rangers
Netflix shouldve hired your ass
This short clip made me thank the lord Jesus I did not watch this abomination.
You removed the thread on Kat, and lost Spikes compassion to boot. The original makes more sense.
And again
Nice job... but I'm afraid no amount of editing will make this crap any better.
Fae isn't a fighter...
Well that's one thing that might have made it less unbearable.
I've commented before how shitty the choreography looked in this show. Doesn't save Faye from her obsession with balls though. I swear do women really think that is a guys only vital spot? It's bad comedy.
Your edit is no doubt better, but i am still not interested in seeing this trash series. Nothing can save it. Team America got more emotion out of wood dolls.
Unreal, every second seems amateur and halfthought out. It's not even fanfiction level.
I think you lose the personality of the original and the conflict between the two characters. Besides, it just becomes a generic action sequence with fewer inserts, the pacing is too fast and the cut-off point arrives too early. The comedy aspect they tried to create here disappears, and with it the interest in watching the scene. This is a completely different scene now, the set-up/build-up used in conjunction with the pacing is off. This comparison also doesn't work since you'd need to show us other sequences too. Focusing on the impacts and repeating movements for emphasis and ellipse is nice and all but it's something that should be brought out over the entire show, if you're doing that. The edit involves the director's vision in it. As a stand-alone show, the Cowboy Bebop live-action is not bad. People are whining too much. Why don't you try editing an entire episode to see how your vision would pan out? Btw, you kind of re-directed it, if that wasn't clear.
This is some of the worse fight scenes on t
oh god, this looks cheap as fuck, like I've seen better fights in youtube fan films
Damn this show sucked
UA-cam recommendations anyone else?
Good job with this, way better
good job, this is less cringey
Oof
