This guy is incredible, I've seen him twice and I'm kinda glad he's not all that well known that way I can keep going to see him live and sit about 10 feet from the stage.
I moved to Amsterdam 4 months ago to follow my dream of becoming a writer. This is the soundtrack of my life; listening to it while walking through the canals is a precious gift from life.
"Amsterdam" All inside our Amsterdam she hides Watery-eyed That howling wind, she's waving hi Her other hand's in mine Oh silhouette She's growing tall and fine She's got my back She'll follow me down every street No matter what my crime All inside our Amsterdam she flies Hoarding the kites That howling wind, she'll take everything But she's easy on the eyes Churches and trains They all look the same to me now They shoot you some place While we ache to come home somehow
@@princeosars3298 My interpretation is that it's a weary traveller, who's travelled a lot in search of something and is yearning to go back home to their loved ones. The train takes or "shoots" the traveller to different places, the "churches" are seen as a symbol of hope in the traveller's trying times, a place where he gets his strength. But at a point of time, churches and trains start looking same, it's an endless cycle the traveller wants to break out of and go back home.
Utterly spellbinding. Sadly I find myself hoping they don't become better known and polluted by the music industry ending up in the dead end of highly paying gigs like The Dave Mathews Band.
All the carnage and graves well they all look the same to me now and the rockets and flames are all that remains and we ache to go home somehow. Ukraine version.
I'm so grateful I somehow discovered his brilliant music and writing. It has been an unbelievable journey throughout my relatively young life.

Sounds selfish though. But i get
Right there with you. Here's hoping he has all the success he needs without becoming so big he's inaccessible.
Not now! 😂 Selling out everywhere!!
"Churches and trains..." So good.
Gets me every time

"Amsterdam"

All inside our Amsterdam she flies

They shoot you some place
While we ache to come home somehow
Thank you!

Also my favourite part of the song. Sends shivers down my spine even though I can't place the metaphor

@@sarceexplores This is a really good interpretation!! I love it
@@merin9357 Thanks 😊
I hope someone will sing this masterpiece in the voice Philippines. 💚
This guy should've been up there with Mumford and the likes of those.. Not fair.
No way, dude. Mumford became so stale after their big success. I feel like this guy's doing great where he is, making this beautiful heady Americana.
when they get big they stop being organic. he can stay right where he is
True that
Agree
Beautiful song about Alblasserdam .....
Amazing!
ahhh---sweet music-------

One of my favourite songs although I’m really not feeling this version. I’ll take the studio album version.
