I know this is way late, but for anyone watching this now, USE GLOVES! There are warnings all over the product that it is corrosive and not to let it contact your skin...bro was rubbing that shit in with his finger, ugh! FWIW, it also says to use eye protection...can't imagine what a drop would do to your eyeball.
Mew favorite channel. Your videos are so clean and to the point. Every 5 min I learn a good tip while others are still begging for a like or sub. We thank you for that.
In the military, we could fix scratches and shiny spots on the upper, but we couldn't do it on the lower. Though we had dry film lubricant spray that was the perfect shade for the Colt M16A1. The spray was from Plasti Kote. It's like spray on Parkerizing. Great stuff!
thank you, I was using a brass pick with a brand new AR, later noticed in some bright light what I thought were scratches, which confused me. Nope. After reading your comment, just brass marks.
WOW! I've been searching for something like this, I always leave a nick somewhere on my lower builds or when adding a new accessory no matter how careful I 'am or how much painters tape I use. that stuff was like magic, I usually use a sharpie but it only last for a few days, this is gonna help my OCD! 🤣🤣👍
I personally love seeing scratches on my gun. Regardless of how much it cost to build. Means it's getting love and gives it character. Still good to know though.
Good stuff guys, enjoy....I have no clue when mine is supposed to be coming they didn't give me a tracking number with the receipt or anything, so I've been patiently checking everyday for it like a kid waiting for a Christmas gift to arrive lol....From what I read online, I guess waiting times are a few weeks out xu2e to the volume of people ordering guns these days
Keep your non-firing good looking safe queens. My $25k rifle has scratches and sports a rattle can finish. Yes it’s an actual MK-22 Barrett. Complete deployment kit with night vision. Get out and train….
I just scratched top of the slide of a new pistol installing rear sight, the tool bit a tiny corner of the sight ramp but it shines like a sun because the aluminum was exposed; would this fix that or at least would make it look not so obvious; i was royally pissed off, used that tool before and no issues but this time miscalculated and damaged the slide and the tool which is the P500 Pro Universal Sight Tool; GARBAGE, hard to work with and I ended up scratching the firearm, cant remember how much I paid for it but will sell it ASAP.
@@paullam5047 I just used it yesterday on a black Alum handguard. Not sure about durability, but I have a whole bottle to cover it again if needed. You would have to look pretty close to see the difference in finish.
This was a question I have as well. I have used this and the directions say to rinse with cold water, but every time I rinse it takes it right off. If I don't rinse like the guy in the video, it works a lot better. It's supposed to cure over night and oiling it. My guess is the directions say to rinse to make sure excess is off, but I don't know. In my experience this stuff works best for more noticeable scratches like the ones in the video. if there are scratches that you can only really see when the lights hit is just right, then they seem to be more difficult to get rid of using Aluminum Black...might have to use it multiple times. If you oil it after wiping off the Aluminum Black it shouldn't rust, but I still wish I knew why the directions say to rinse with cold water.
Apparently you haven’t had a cerakoted upper with shell deflector. Perfect way to ruin a beautiful finish in minutes. Chipped cerakote is ugly and not easily fixed
@@johngreen2510 Yes I have. My Daniel Defense has a factory Cerakote finish. I belive they have moved to the Cerkote Pro formulation, or at least the Deep Woods green is. I have a few thousand rounds through it and looking at it right now......... no chipping. There are some marks from copper deposits but that's it. I could provide you with pics if you wished.
People are strange! 😅 It's a tool; it gets used and it gets dinged! I've rucked mine up and down mountains and across deserts and she's beat to hell. The only thing I did was sew in a velcro flap to cover the metal magazines in my chest rig as I was getting so much wear on the upper I was worried it'd start punching through lol
Before u touch up with alim blueing u need to use rubbing alcohol first to remove oils yes there u do this some say u heat it it a bit with a hairdryer makes it do even better but yes that cool I used dab tooth paste it slsome works lite scratch s to😊
I bought an ar from a local gunshop. They etched their shop name into the lower. Its shiny i dont like it. Will this make the shiny black? I dont care about removing it..just make it black
Interesting note about touching up scratches during servicing; do you get owner permission prior? I only ask this because I was a professional luthier for many years and it is fairly common in the industry to clean fingerboards, fretboards, and the instrument body while servicing. Over the course of 40 years servicing instruments the master luthier stopped this practice as some people will actually get very upset if you wipe away their years of grime buildup 🤮 If I wasn't training as a gunsmith and I sent my rifle to someone for servicing, I would actually be sad if they touched up the scratches I have on my rifle. Each scratch is the culmination of years of 90lb 7+ mile rucks over mountains and across deserts 😅

It’s funny this popped up. I just replaced my trigger guard and the 2nd to last hammer scratched tf out of the ear and it really bummed me out
Did it work? If so how well did it blend and how durable has it been?

It's a type of acid *uses finger to rub it in....
It works better if you degrease it first in my experience. Also, to remove brass marks...iso-propyl alcohol (IPA) is your friend.
thank you, I was using a brass pick with a brand new AR, later noticed in some bright light what I thought were scratches, which confused me. Nope. After reading your comment, just brass marks.
Put a piece of self-stick Velcro on the shell deflector and never have to service it and your brass won't get dented.
the question is what looks worse, the velcro or the marks?
I feel like brass deflector marks should be proudly displayed as a symbol of a well loved firearm

Use duck tape instead, offers quite a bit more protection than painters tape

Would this work on a steel suppressor? Specifically asking about an Aero Lahar-30. I dropped it in gravel and that one drop scratched it to hell. lol

Anyone has experience with the aluminium black on anodized titanium? Works?
Where do I go for Cerakote touch ups?
If you mark up your bolt catch area, you a need a flat punch, Brownells has them for $6, or use electrical tape to protect the area
so that is how I went wrong? I needed to use a flat punch and not the rounded punch? good to kno for next time.
Wish I saw this before buying thr paint pen. How would I remove the paint from the scratch in order to apply this instead?
How can i buy

I've been meaning to order some of this. Just did!
