5 gallon tank is small for multiple fishes, but still you can try. Make it planted so that there will be multiple hiding place. Female Betta 's are not aggressive, so it should be fine. If you find guppies are torturing you Betta, remove her.

As far as getting along years ago I went into a lady friends office and she had a Beta with a bunch of other fish and found out as long as their not fin nippers they get along perfectly. I've had mine with Cardinal Tetras for many years. My oldest Cardinal was well over 9 years when it passed, most around 6 to 7.
Actually I have two bettas that get along well with guppies. One I happen to find and a small Taiwanese fish store it's a double tail comb tail crowntail. He's very docile and gets along with guppies no problem. To get male guppies because they can't get pregnant

That tank is going to look different and tomorrow I'd like to make a video on something that I saw which was quite sad I'm seeing a lot of videos lately of people just putting bettas and vases with ivies and it's sad because they're getting like a gazillion likes and their channels really successful and mine's just somewhat pathetic Actually I never planned on having a channel I actually made that because I couldn't figure out what was killing my fish Turns out the water in Taiwan is toxic to not only tropical fish but plants. It's pretty much volcanic and so I've got to let it sit for 3 days which allows the chemicals to rise to the surface and then the water is dispensed through a drinking dispenser long story short the water is nice and soft.
i kept a betta with 4 guppies sadly my guppies died cuz they got sucked to the filter thats why i only have 1 female my betta is black n blue hes aggresive when somebody try to steal hes food

You have to observe first your Betta behaviour for few days, if Betta shows excessive aggression, then remove your other fishes..
